Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana 'totally dating'

Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana (Google Images)

Bradley Cooper appears to have found yet another woman to love in his life. The serial dater and People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man of the Year’ is reportedly “totally dating” ‘The Words’ co-star Zoe Saldana.

After photos leaked in June of Cooper locking lips with the beautiful Saldana for scenes in their upcoming movie, Cooper’s fans went into a tizzy with jealousy. Will Saldana be able to cope with her beau’s fanatic admirers?

Art is mimicking life for these two co-stars. The Daily Mail reports that following their on-screen hookup in June, rumors started to fly that the two were an item. Now, the couple has begun to tell family and friends of their blossoming romance, and reportedly will be spending the holidays in the Rockies together.

The rumors of the romance comes just a month after Saldana broke it off with fiance Keith Briton whom she had been with for eleven years. The split was amicable, according to the Daily Mail.

What do you think about Bradley and Zoe - are they a couple made to last?

Beyonce Knowles' birthing suite is being prepared in New York

Beyonce and her baby bump (Google Images)
The 'Best Thing I Never Had' singer - who is expecting her first baby with husband Jay-Z - is thought to be at the nine month mark of her pregnancy and staff at St Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in the city, the same where Alicia Keys had her baby,  are being prepared for her to give birth.

The hospital is said to be "buzzing" about the preparation and half of one floor has been set aside for her, according to MediaTakeOut.com.

In September the 30-year-old beauty admitted she was six months pregnant while she shot the video for her song 'Countdown'.

Beyonce recently confessed she was hoping to have plenty more children to add to her family before she turns 40.

She said: "I have always said that I want to have all my children by the time I am 40, so there's still a lot of time left. There is an attraction for sure about having a large family, but we will just have to see what we are blessed with."

Both her mother Tina and sister Solange were recently spotted shopping for baby clothes in Dallas, Texas.

Coldplay paid $1.5 million to perform in Abu Dhabi on New Year's Eve

Coldplay (Google Images)
The band - made up of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland - were persuaded to perform at the Volvo Ocean Race venue in Abu Dhabi by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed.

Table tickets for the exclusive event cost $6,630 (£4,300), which includes car parking passes, champagne and spirits.

Jonny is particularly excited to be performing at the venue because he loved his visit the last time he went.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I've never stayed anywhere like the hotel they put me in and probably never will again. It made Buckingham Palace look like a two-bed semi."

However, the performance will be an unusual one for Chris - who raises children Apple, seven and Moses, five, with Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow - because he usually does not seem them over the festive period.

He said: "We're best friends who never hang out with each other except for 10 hours a day when we're working."

Lady Gaga to lead the New Year’s Eve countdown in New York’s Times Square

Lady Gaga at the EMAs (Celebuzz.com)
The pop superstar – who is a proud New Yorker - has been personally chosen by Major Michael Bloomberg to push a Waterford Crystal button and drop the ball into the crowd at 11.59pm on Saturday night.

Every year the major picks a special guest to lead the countdown and previous choices have included former US President Bill Clinton and his wife Hilary Clinton, boxing legend Muhammad Ali and Rudy Giuliani.

Over one million people are expected to join the celebrations in the ‘Big Apple’.

Gaga will also be performing on the annual ABC TV show ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012’ to see in the New Year.

The ‘Marry the Night’ singer will also appear on Japanese broadcaster Nhk's New Year's Eve TV spectacular ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen’ as part of a live satellite link-up from New York.

Because of the time difference Gaga will ‘celebrate’ New Year’s twice as she will appear on the Japanese TV show before the big countdown happens in the US.

Colin Farrell plays Santa Claus at Dublin’s children’s hospital

Merry Christmas, little man: Colin Farrell cradles a baby during an impromptu visit to a children's hospital in Dublin on Christmas Day
Colin Farrell coddling a child in Crumlin (Twitter / dailymail.co.uk)
Well, if there was any shred of a doubt that the once party-boy Colin Farrell has changed his ways, this should shatter it. The Dublin born and bred actor paid an unannounced visit to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Dublin on Christmas Day.

With hundreds of presents in tow for the sick children of the hospital, Farrell brought  a much needed dose of Christmas cheer to the patients, their families and staff alike. Making a point to not make his visit a media attraction, apparently Farrell’s publicist didn’t even know about his visit.

Excited parents took to Twitter with the arrival of Farrell and sung his praises. The Daily Mail reports that one wrote “Just chatting with #ColinFarrell who is in with presents for the kids here in #Crumlin. No tv/media, a gentleman and genuine.”

Another tweeted “'Just met Colin Farrell he came to meet the kids in crumlin hospital really nice man. fair play to him putting a smile on the childrens faces.'

Farrell was in his hometown for the holidays, and was spotted on Christmas Eve enjoying fellow Dublin-native Bono singing for charity along with other musicians.

Fair play to Farrell indeed!

Mark Wahlberg claims 'intuition' led him to cast Justin Bieber in his upcoming film

Justin Bieber and Mark Wahlberg (Celebuzz.com)
The ‘Contraband’ star is planning to make a movie with teen heartthrob Justin about his favourite sport, and says it was an immediate and natural choice for them to work together.

Asked why he picked the ‘Baby’ singer, Mark told MTV: “Intuition. I'm pretty intuitive.

“I see the guy and spent time with him and you see what he does and how he does it, and then you actually have a conversation with him and it's there.”

Although 17-year-old Justin has had little previous big screen experience - aside from his documentary film ‘Never Say Never’ - Mark is confident he can make the project work, adding: "It's there - and if not, I will extract it."

Mark has previously likened the project to ‘The Colour of Money’, a 1986 film about an old pool player and his young protege, starring Paul Newman and a young Tom Cruise.

He added: "Wait till you see me and Bieber in the flick. Think of, like, 'The Colour of Money.”

Mark is hoping the film can go into production in 2012.

Lady Gaga's former personal assistant suing her for unpaid overtime

Jennifer O'Neill and Lady Gaga (celebritysmackblog.com)
A case of bad romance, perhaps? Lady Gaga’s former personal assistant, Jennifer O’Neill, is suing the pop star for alleged unpaid overtime, reports Hollywood.com

According to court papers, O’Neill is suing Gaga for the sum of $380,000. The papers recount O’Neill’s seemingly slave-like treatment for the 13 months she served as Gaga’s personal assistant. As her assistant, O’Neill's responsibility was “getting the artist anything she wanted at any hour of the day or night, handling her schedule, money, and food,” reports Hollywood.com.

Along with those typical tasks, O’Neill was also supposed to be "ensuring the availability of chosen outfits.” Gaga, of course, is known for her more than outlandish outfits - surely a job in itself!

O’Neill also makes claims that her job was so demanding, it sometimes left little to no time for meals “or, at times, even sleep”.

While some may jump to conclude that O’Neill is only after a piece of the Gaga money-pie, her claims are slightly validated by other former Gaga assistant Angela Ciemny. According to the book “Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga,” Ciemny was often required to sleep with the songstress because Gaga feared being alone, and that sometimes Gaga would hop in the shower with Ciemny unprovoked.

Hollywood.com goes on to say that “Unsurprisingly, a spokeswoman for Gaga denies the allegations, stating the lawsuit is ‘completely without merit.’”

Arnold Schwarzenegger &h Maria Shriver

The ‘Terminator’ star and Maria separated after 25 years together in May but put on a united front over the festive period for their four children, Katherine, 22, Christina, 20, Patrick, 18 and Christopher, 14.

A source told People.com: “They had a really nice time over the holiday.”

Arnold and Maria have spent a number of occasions together since separating, including his 64th birthday just two months after they parted in May.

However, the situation has not been easy for Maria and she has previously admitted she was left “down and confused” about the breakdown of her marriage.

Speaking about a recent experience with a friend who has intellectual disabilities, she said: "When I was going through my own challenges this year; feeling down and confused, I got an email from him. He wrote me a note saying, 'You're my best friend Maria and you will never be left out.'

“When the world is so complicated, the simple gift of friendship is within all of our hands. Thank you to everyone who came up to me this weekend and wished me well."

Matthew McConaughey proposed to Camila Alves over Christmas

Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves
‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ actor proposed to the Brazilian model and TV star on Christmas day and celebrated her accepting by posting a picture of them kissing together on his twitter account.

He wrote: “Just asked camila to marry me, #MerryChristmas (sic).”

Matthew, 42, and Camila, 29, have been together for five years, and have two children together, son Levi, three and daughter, Vida, 23 months.

The actor has previously explained how he wanted Camila to feel secure in their relationship as soon as it became serious by buying new home for them, which she could add her personal touches to.

He said: "Before this, I had a super home in the Hollywood Hills that I did by myself - landscaping, detailing pretty much everything. But that house was mine. And yeah, we coulda gone in there right away. Camila would have said, 'Fine, don't change a thing.' But I thought, I found the woman I wanna do it with, the woman I wanna make a family with, hopefully live our life out together.

"She needs to have 50 per cent of that. I mean, it's a lot easier for me to be at 100 percent. I'd always been 100 per cent. It's braver for me at 50 per cent."

Amy Adams was 'star-struck' by the Muppets

Jason Segal &Amy Adams
The actress was thrilled to be cast in the famous puppets' new movie, but admits she was overwhelmed when she got close to the characters she had loved as a child.

She said: "It's so odd to be suddenly doing a scene with a character you adored as a kid. I've been most star-struck with Fozzie. I was really into him and I do a pretty mean, 'Wacka wacka!' "

Jason Segal is responsible for bringing the popular characters back to the big screen and admits celebrating his birthday on set was one of the greatest moments of his life.

He told Empire magazine: "Let me tell you about one of the best moments of my life.

"Near the end of the shoot, we closed down Hollywood Boulevard and filled it with hundreds of extras. It was also my 31st birthday that night, and all the Muppets sang me 'Happy Birthday'.

"But what was really crazy was that on the street there just happened to be a huge banner with Jim Henson's face on it – not set dressing, but advertising an exhibit going on at the museum. He was looking down at us from the banner and it felt like … Everything felt like it was coming together."

Gwyneth Paltrow cries when she eats pancakes

Gwyneth Paltrow
The 39-year-old actress always loved the breakfast food cooked by her late father Bruce Paltrow but admits tucking in even now makes her feel emotional.

Asked which of her dad's recipes mean most to her, she said: "His barbecued salmon with ginger and thyme and his 'world-famous' pancakes.

"It is hard for me to eat them because I keep expecting him to walk into the kitchen when I do. I make them very rarely and I cry every time. They are the essence of him in a food."

Gwyneth – who has children Apple, seven, and five-year-old Moses with her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin – thinks she is a "very traditional" wife who thinks her main responsibility is to her family.

She told the Metro newspaper: "I am very traditional in a 1950s housewife way; cooking, making sure everyone's fed and everything's in order. I think that a wife has a responsibility to make a home and protect the family.

"I also believe that a wife should be able to do whatever she wants and work if she wants. My mother was a less traditional wife than me. She worked to support the family."

Dame Helen Mirren
The Oscar-winning actress has recorded lines for an episode of the musical TV show – starring Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele and Heather Morris – where she will be heard but not seen, although the part whose inner thoughts she will be voicing is not known, according to The Wrap.

The episode, titled 'Yes/No', will feature Matthew's character Mr. Schuester and Jayma May's Emma prominently.

A source told the Daily Express newspaper: "Helen recorded several long, hilarious monologues recently. She visited the kids on set – they had no idea she was coming and were stunned."

'Glee' is renowned for attracting big name stars onto the show, including Gwyneth Paltrow – who played substitute teacher Holly Holliday – and Britney Spears, who appeared as herself.

However, Britney's appearance was not easy for the regular cast members of the show as they had to have special security on the day.

Matthew said: "What was Britney like? I don't know - I didn't get to meet her. Not many people did.

"She had pretty big security around her. We actually had security bands to get onto our set that day."

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively enjoy a festive holiday in Canada

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
The 'Gossip Girl' actress and the 35-year-old hunk – who have been dating since October – were spotted in the west coast city of Vancouver where they went out for dinner with his family on Monday night.

The following day the romantic pair were spotted stopping at Benny's Bagels, where they were "really friendly" but kept to themselves.

It is not the first time Ryan and Blake – who split with Leonardo DiCaprio after five months of dating earlier this year – have been spotted out and about; in October they enjoyed an intimate dinner in Boston while he was there working on movie 'R.I.P.D'.

The pair initially met on the set of superhero movie 'Green Lantern' and were keen to try out something more serious after she split from 'Inception' star Leonardo.

A source said: "They became good friends on the set [of 'Green Lantern']. Now they're both single and trying it out. They're seeing each other casually."

Since Ryan separated from his wife Scarlett Johansson after two years of marriage in late 2010, he was linked with several famous beauties including Sandra Bullock, but he joked he couldn't have dated so many women as was claimed because he is not "potent" enough.

The Canadian star previously said: "Right now I seem to be on a speed-dating mission - at least according to those stories that are going around at the moment. Even my mom is confused. No man is potent enough to be able to go through as many women as that in such a short amount of time like I allegedly have!"

Nicolas Cage's son told Spider-Man Reeve Carney he wanted to "fly" with him in the Broadway show

Reeve Carney
The actor took his six-year-old boy Kal-El to watch the Broadway show 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' and afterwards he got to meet lead actor Reeve Carney, who plays the web-slinging superhero in the New York production.

During the behind the scenes tour, Kal-El told Reeve has was named by his dad Nicolas after fellow comic book hero Superman and insisted he would have joined him for some superpower fun if he'd brought his cape.

Speaking to the New York Post newspaper, a source revealed the schoolboy told the actor, "I’m Kal-El. This is my dad. I was named after Superman. I’d fly with you, but I don’t have my cape.”
Nicolas is a huge Superman fan and recently sold a rare comic book for over $2.1 million.

The 'Trespass' actor put 'Action Comics No. 1' up for sale in an online auction and it eventually was bought for $2,161,000.

The comic – which Nicolas purchased in 1997 for around $150,000 -features the debut of Superman in popular culture and is believed to be one of only 100 left in existence.
It was graded at 9.0, making it the best condition of an 'Action No. 1' that has ever been graded by the leading comic book grading company, Certified Guaranty Company.

Matt Damon slams Barack Obama for not having enough 'balls'

Matt Damon & Barack Obama ((Courtesy of NY DailyNews/Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images; Bloomberg)
The 'We Bought The 'We Bought The 'We Bought A Zoo' actor was a huge supporter of Obama in the run-up to him winning the US presidency election in November 2008 but says he's been disappointed in how he has run the country.

He told America's ELLE magazine: "I've talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, 'Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician.' You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better."

However, Matt says he does have some sympathy with Obama because he has a lot to deal with, including ongoing negotiations over the country's debt ceiling.

He said. "I don't know what you do in the face of that kind of intransigence. So, my heart does go out to the president. He is dealing with a lot."

This is not the first time Matt has criticised Obama and the decisions he has made over the past three years.

He recently said: "I really think he misinterpreted his mandate. A friend of mine said to me the other day, I thought it was a great line, 'I no longer hope for audacity.' He's doubled down on a lot of things, going back to education ... the idea that we're testing kids and we're tying teachers' salaries to how kids are performing on tests, that kind of mechanized thinking has nothing to do with higher order. We're training them, not teaching them."

Alec Baldwin won't run for mayor of New York-- says other candidates are 'so horny for their own ascension'

Alec Baldwin (Salon.com)
The '30 Rock' star had toyed with the idea of running for office but admitted he no longer wants to take on the job because he has become disenchanted with politics.

Speaking on his weekly podcast on WNYC, he said: "I've lost my appetite. Plus the people that are running for mayor - I know this is terrible - I look at them and I don't see myself in that crowd. They're like a guy on a date that you can tell he just can't wait to get his hand up your blouse before even the lights go out. They're all just so horny for it. Horny for their own ascension."

Alec revealed he plans to focus on his role as vain, television executive Jack Donaghy on '30 Rock' instead because he doesn't think he could change anything if he went into politics.

He explained: "I've got a good job. Is the most creative thing in the world? Am I doing 'The Insider' with Michael Mann? Am I doing some edgy, like finely chiseled social drama? No. Am I doing 'To Kill a Mockingbird?' No, I'm doing a sitcom.

"But we have fun, and it's a family and I love New York and I've got a life. Give this up for what? I give up money and fame and position and success, I give up this wonderful life I have now in exchange for the chance to really change things. Yeah, I'm not quite sure you can any more.

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler vacation in Mexico

Stacy Keibler & George Clooney in Mexico (justjared.buzznet.com)
The Hollywood heartthrob and the former WWE Diva are staying in Cabo San Lucas for a sun-drenched pre-Christmas break with friends including Cindy Crawford and her husband Randy Gerber.

The holiday comes less than a month after they spent Thanksgiving in Mexico with pals Alex Rodriguez, Cindy Crawford and Molly Sims and also celebrated Stacy's 32nd birthday in Cabo in October.

Although the couple are reportedly set to spend their first Christmas together with Stacy's parents, George recently revealed he is too dedicated to his career to have children and has no plans to ever marry again.

The 50-year-old star - who was married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 - said: "I've always known fatherhood wasn't for me. Raising kids is a huge commitment and has to be your top priority. For me, that priority is my work. That's why I'll never get married again."

George also revealed he has no plans to dye his greying hair and is embracing it instead.

He said: "I hear all this talk about how grey I'm becoming, but I can't imagine ever dyeing my hair. My dad has a full head of white hair and I think it looks pretty good."

Sinead O’Connor, Alec Baldwin and Charlie Sheen make FOX’s list for celebrity meltdowns

Sinead O'Connor (People.com/WENN)
It appears that some celebs have gotten their Irish up just a bit too much this year. FOX411’s PopTart column did their fifth annual Top 10 Celebrity Meltdowns recently, and this list was full of Irish and Irish American stars.

No stranger to controversy, Irish singer Sinead O’Connor rounded out the list in a three-way tie between herself, Johnny Depp and Susan Sarandon. O’Connor was added to the list for her eyebrow-raising comments earlier this year that if Pope Benedict XVI came to visit Ireland, she would incite an all-out “bloodbath.”

At number 9 is Alec Baldwin, who attempted a Twitter uprising following his removal from a American Airlines flight for refusing to shut off his mobile ‘Words with Friends’ game. The flight crew insisted Baldwin was unruly, and in turn, Baldwin wants his hit show ‘30 Rock’ removed from the in-flight entertainment.

What celeb meltdown list is complete with Lindsay Lohan? The former Disney tween queen made a mess of 2011 between shop-lifting, jail-time and failed random alcohol tests. She closed her year by doing a spread for Playboy, which ironically, was deemed rather tasteful.

And, of course, the clear-cut winner for biggest meltdown of the year is handed over to actor Charlie Sheen, who had less than a “winning!” year. His bizarre antics over the summer had people concerned for his well-being, and also led to his termination from the CBS hit ‘Two and A Half Men.’ Thankfully, Sheen seems to be in a better spot mentally, so here’s to a happy and healthy 2012 for him.

Check out the rest of those on the list here.

Sean Penn is 'exciting and difficult' to be married to

Robin Wright and ex-husband Sean Penn (EOnline/AP Photo/Chris Pizzello)
The 'Milk' actor split from actress Robin Wright after 14 years of marriage in 2010, and while they had their ups and downs within their marriage, Robin insists it never became tawdry.

She said: "I would use the words ‘definitely never boring’ to describe our marriage. It was exciting and difficult. I spent most of my life with this person.”

The couple have two children, daughter Dylan Frances, 20, and son Hopper Jack, 18, and Robin is now planning to concentrate on raising them and her movie career rather than looking for love again.

She added to The Times newspaper: "Would I Marry again? No. But never say never. Why marry? It’s a beautiful fortress, but I don’t need it.”

Robin is returning to mainstream films in 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' after a period spent tending to her family, which gave her valuable life experience.

She added: "It wasn’t a premeditated thought — ‘I’m going to stop my career in mainstream films’ — it just wasn’t a priority. The children were my world. Being a parent makes you look at your authentic self much faster than you would normally. Having children is like taking a truth serum. We all unintentionally screw up our children: it’s a learning curve.”

'The View’s’ Whoopi Goldberg is a big fan of Irish music hero Christy Moore

Whoopi Goldberg

Comic and doyenne of ABC’s gabfest The View, Whoopi Goldberg, told the Sunday World that she’s a big fan of Irish music icon Christy Moore.

Goldberg spoke to the Dublin weekly on the eve of her play, Sister Act, opening in the Irish capital.
They’ve known each other for some 30 years – who knew! – and worked together in the early eighties.

“Christy Moore is a legend to me. He’s an amazing artist,” she said.

Moore was delighted when the World told him that Whoopi had such fond memories.

“That’s gas to hear from Whoopi,” he said.  "I did a gig with her at a place called the Third Eye in Glasgow in 1982 before she became a film star. She was a stand up comedian and one of the funniest acts I ever saw. She was brilliant and I had a right bit of craic with her."

Moore has certainly had quite a year with celebrity admirers. In the summer he appeared live at the Oxegen music festival in Co. Kildare with Brit darlings Coldplay, who specifically requested his presence for the big gig.

Steven Spielberg thrilled with Daniel Day Lewis’s performance as Abraham Lincoln

Daniel Day Lewis as "Honest Abe"
Steven Spielberg is finishing the year off on a high with two new releases, War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin, but he’s got even higher hopes for 2012 when he finally unveils the biopic Lincoln, which delves into the life and times of one of our most famous and beloved chief execs, Abraham Lincoln.

Double Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis finally green-lighted his participation after years of back and forth – for a long time Liam Neeson was tied to the role – and Spielberg couldn’t be more thrilled. They’re currently on location in Virginia shooting the project.

“I’m so excited to work with one of the greatest actors of our time,” Spielberg told the Chicago Sun-Times last week.

“He wouldn’t say yes for years. He even turned me down seven years ago when I asked him to play Lincoln. I think he was intimidated. You think about playing Lincoln, and it’s true that he was too great a man.”

Day-Lewis, the Irish citizen and resident of Co. Wicklow who won one of his two golden statuettes portraying the Irish writer and painter Christy Brown in My Left Foot, was sold on Spielberg’s movie when he saw the script that the award-winning writer Tony Kushner crafted.

“Daniel had never read his script. When he did read it, he understood the man,” Spielberg said.
Though Lincoln was born and raised in Illinois, Spielberg chose Virginia for the shoot because the film will focus on the last year of his presidency. Some photos have leaked from the set featuring Day-Lewis as the spitting image of old Abe.

Expect to see Lincoln after next year’s race for the White House ends . . . just in time for Oscar season.
"Lincoln needs his own wide berth," he said. "And he wouldn't be given a wide berth with both sides using him as a kind of political football,” Spielberg told ABC last week.

Denver Broncos Tim Tebow has much love for U2 and Bono

Bono and Tebow
Though Tim Tebow’s Denver Broncos got their tails kicked by Tom Brady’s Patriots on Sunday, quarterback Tebow is still the hottest athlete out there given his prior game exploits of tossing miracle touchdowns in the fourth quarter to notch five wins in a row for his side.

The evangelical cutie talks of his love for God on a regular basis . . . and apparently he thinks Bono’s pretty heavenly as well!

Tebow posted this pic of himself and the U2 star on his Facebook account a few days back. Though he recently admitted that Rascal Flatts is his favorite group, U2 must rank close behind. The photo was taken in May during U2’s tour stop in Denver.

Gerard Butler rushed to hospital after cheating death by seconds in a surfing stunt

Gerard Butler

The 'Machine Gun Preacher' star got trapped underwater after he was hit by a series of waves while filming 'Of Men and Mavericks' – which tells the true life story of late surfing icon Jay Moriarty – at the infamous big-wave Northern Californian surfing spot Maverick's.

The 42-year-old actor – who plays champion surfer Ricky 'Frosty' Henson in the movie – got caught in a 12ft swell before he was pulled from the water onto a jet ski and then taken to shore and driven to Stanford Medical Center for overnight observation.

Eye witness and surfer Frank Quirarte wrote in his ESPN Action Sports Blog: “Butler was held down for a solid two-waves and took four or five more waves on the head.

“He was then washed through the rocks on the inside before he was finally able to be plucked out.

“Even on small days the inside at Maverick’s can push 10ft plus and really tear you up.

“When they brought Butler in he had that 100-yard stare that surfers get after a two-wave hold [down] or near death experience.

“After almost 20 years at Mavericks I’ve seen a lot of it, but at least he was standing on his own two legs. He was then carted away in a waiting ambulance.”

Despite the huge waves, Frank insisted Gerard – who has been training at the location throughout the summer to get in shape – and the film crew were "chomping a the bit" to get in the water.

He added: "With Maverick’s and the entire Northern Hemisphere big-wave season off to a slow start surfers and the film crew were chomping at the bit to get a few days of surfing and filming in.

“Waves were running at 12ft, but some large ones had got through.

"Butler had no business to go near the bowl."

The incident comes almost eight months after Hawaiian surfer Sion Milosky died in a near identical incident at Maverick's.

Stanford Medical Center and Gerard's representatives would not comment on his condition on Monday.

Lady Gaga has treated her chauffeur to a year's supply of nappies

Lady Gaga
The 'Marry the Night' hitmaker was so delighted to hear her UK driver was about to become a dad for the first time that she splashed out on the practical gift for him.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Gaga is very generous with her presents and makes a huge effort for those who look after her. As soon as she found out her UK driver was going to be a dad, she was on the phone, trying to sort out a gift. It had to be something quirky, too – it's part of her nature.

"Gaga has used the same driver for years since she first started performing in the UK. The poor guy has to drive her through hordes of screaming fans after gigs. Considering how often she stands up through the sunroof to salute her Little Monsters, he must know every inch of her midriff."

She said: “I got engaged six months ago, but we are only just making it public now.

“We first met four years ago and we bumped into each other last Christmas on Portobello Road in Notting Hill, London, and started dating again – and that’s also where he asked me. It was romantic. I’m really happy.

“But we don’t want to get married for a couple of years yet.”

Peaches - whose whirlwind marriage to musician Max Drummey ended in divorce after just six months in 2009 - says the couple are currently concentrating on renovating the new house they have just bought.

She told Britain's Star magazine: “We’ve just bought a house together in Whitechapel in east London. It’s a Victorian three-bed house and I’ve spent the whole of today trying to sort the mortgage – it’s strange adult territory! And it’s been a real bitch getting it, too. They nearly didn’t let me have it – maybe it’s because they recognised me. It’s the perfect place and size, and we got it pretty cheap for what it is.

“I can’t wait to start decorating! I’m obsessed with buying vintage sofas off eBay for £200. I have five! I don’t see the point of paying £300 for a new one. Thomas came round my flat today, which is tiny so you can barely move for sofas!”

Amelia Warner insists her marriage to Colin Farrell was never legal

Amelia Warner and Colin Farrell
British singer and songwriter Amelia Warner has recently admitted that her 2001 “marriage” to Colin Farrell in Tahiti was “by no means legal” or binding.

"We didn't actually get married - it's not actually true,” said Warner, now 29, to The British Sun. “I think we've been too polite to deny it. We had a ceremony on a beach in Tahiti that was by no means legal and we knew it wasn't. It was just a thing we did on holiday...We booked them both on the activities desk at the hotel.”

"It really wasn't this secret wedding that no one was invited to. It was lovely, it was silly, it was sweet but by no means was it a serious thing and I think my mum thought it was quite funny."

Although Warner thought the ceremony was “lovely” and “silly” at the time, she admits now that she was upset when the couple split only a few months later. "It was a very intense and passionate relationship. It was heartbreaking when it ended."

Now 29, Warner records under the stage-name of Slow Moving Millie. Her cover of The Smiths’ ‘Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want’ has been popular in the UK this season.

Robert Pattinson breaks away from 'Twilight' image - sexy poster for 'Cosmopolis' released

New poster - Robert Pattinson in 'Cosmopolis'
After years of playing the brooding heart-throb character of Edward Cullen in "The Twilight Saga", it really seems that Robert Pattinson is shaking off that teen idol persona with his new role in David Cronenberg's adaptation of a Don DeLillio novel, 'Cosmopolis'.

The new movie follows his character, Eric Packer, as he traipses across Manhattan in search of a decent haircut. The underlying themes of the movie discuss sex, vulnerability, and the damage inflicted by father-son conflicts.

As you can tell, there's not a Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart's character in 'Twilight') a vampire, or a pesky werewolf in sight. This was a bold move for Pattinson to make following his rise to super-stardom. By the looks of it this movie will pay off.

Cosmopolis will be in theaters in 2012. It co-stars Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, Samatha Morton, and Jay Baruchel.

Irishwoman named as one of New York’s neediest cases this Christmas

Special Irish sayings and blessings this Christmas season
----------------
She has now enlisted the services of attorney Michael Marzban to sue her former legal team for malpractice, and is seeking the amount she would have won had she pursued her previous action, plus other damages, TMZ.com reports.

Sharon has previously admitted she sometimes pretends Brittany and Simon are still alive in order to cope with the tragedy.

She said: "It's beyond strange. I don't have answers for it. Sometimes just in order to function, I pretend it didn't happen."

Brittany's mother - who keeps her daughter's bedroom exactly as it was before she died - has found her death especially difficult because they relied on each other for everything.

She explained: "I'm always remembering times with her. She would always say that we grew up together, and that's true. We were so close, and such great friends."

Robert Pattinson says seeing Kristen Stewart ill in 'Breaking Dawn' was 'disturbing'

Audience members weren't the only ones disturbed by Kristen Stewart's appearance in 'Breaking Dawn - Part I.'

Apparently, Robert Pattinson also had a hard time seeing his girlfriend looking so sick and emaciated, according to SugarScape.

“It’s definitely very strange considering we did most of the movie where she gets looking progressively worse and worse. It was actually quite moving to see her look as haggard and destroyed as she did," said Pattinson, in the film's official editorial companion.

"It’s incredibly disturbing, even on the set."
