Bono unfairly slammed for restaurant behavior

Sometimes you have to admit the gossip writers really stretch to makeup a story.

Such was the one that Bono had made "diva demands" at a New York restaurant called "Butter" while dining there last week with The Edge.

According to the Daily News Bono demanded Perrier water. What could be wrong with that? Isn't he entitled to ask for his favorite brand?

OK so the waiter didn't have it and they sent out for it. Big deal. That's a reflection on the restaurant not Bono.

Then the Daily News says he had the gall to ask that his salad be chopped up. Heavens to Betsy -- what a request.

And guess what, he checked that they had chopped it up when it arrived. How dare he!

Give me a break here, folks. Bono is one of the least Diva type celebrities on this planet. He made a few simple requests which any diner could make, and he has been lampooned over it.

Bet he never goes back to 'Butter' again.

Irish 'Avatar' special effects genius favored for Oscar

The Irishman who is the special effects genius behind Avatar is looking forward to this week's Oscars.

Richard Baneham says he's embarrassed by all the attention and says Colin Farrell even bows to him .

"I was at party in New York last week when I heard this Dublin accent. It was Colin Farrell. I had never met him before but he looked over and said: 'Jesus, you're in the papers more than me.' It was a very humbling experience," he told the Irish Independent.

Baneham won a BAFTA last weekend , accepting his award with a wonderful dedication to his wife Aisling.

"That was an accident. There were four of us on stage and each was supposed to thank different people. The last guy had the job of individually thanking our wives but when he just did a general thing I stepped in.

He also thanked his parents for their support "From when I was young, dad taught me to stand up for myself. Because of that, I've had some very loud stand-offs with some key directors in this industry. I can tell you James Cameron is not a man to avoid an argument," he joked..

As for the Oscars "There's a great big crowd of Irish going over. I heard that the Irish Film Board have booked Dylan's pub up the road as the central hub of Irish support. Win, lose or draw, I'll be swinging by there on the night for a pint."

Robert Pattinson spotted kissing Kristen Stewart at London pub

Rob Pattinson and his leading lady Kristen Stewart have been spotted kissing and hugging in a London pub the Marquis of Granby. OK magazine quotes an insider who said“He had his arm around her, holding her close to him and she was leaning into him,” .

The couple made a stop at the Westminster bar but stayed outside with a group of friends for most of the evening.

“They were outside, sharing each other’s cigarettes, talking and kissing,” the witness said.

"They were not wanting to make a big show of kissing in public,” the source said and added that Rob and Kristen definitely seemed pretty cozy together.

“They seemed really into each other, there was definite chemistry between them,” The couple left in separate cars at 11.30

The witness said they were “So cute… They were definitely enjoying each other’s company.”

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in secret getaway from Heathrow Airport

Look carefully 'Twilight' fans!

This picture allegedly shows Kristen Stewart flying out of Heathrow Airport Friday with rumored boyfriend and 'Twilight' co-star Robert Pattinson.

Kristen was in England earlier this week and revealed that she was mortified at having to give a speech at the tony Bafta awards which are sorta like our Oscars.

“I would never get used to something like that,” she said. “A room full of people that you are so overwhelmingly… admiration isn’t even a word that’s enough.

“It’s like there’s such an overwhelming respect for everyone in the room and you feel so small, not in a bad way, it puts such an extreme dose of perspective to stand up there and speak to these people.”

Robert Pattinson hits New York with Pierce Brosnan

We understand that Robert Pattinson will definitely be on the the red carpet for the premiere of ‘Remember Me’ with costars Emilie de Ravin and Irishman Pierce Brosnan at the Paris Theater on 58th Street close to the Plaza Hotel next week.

It should be a great night out for the fans. The Paris is a beautiful old theater, surrounded on all sides by wonderful new York scenery, the Plaza, Central Park, Fifth Avenue etc.

Also included will be appearances on The Today Show, already recorded, The View. and Jon Stewart. Brosnan will likely appear on The View with his co-star.

While in New York he will also feature on the Jimmy Fallon show on NBC where he will no doubt have fun with the Irish American comedian about his Robert Pattinson spoof series.

It will be the one year anniversary of the Fallon show debuting and it is kind of telling that Pattinson is the person who will help him celebrate. Is there a bigger star on the planet right now?

"The View" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" will happen March 2nd.
Expect the ladies to fawn on The View but Stewart and RPatz should be fun.

Colin Farrell says Heath Ledger death scared him

Colin Farrell has admitted hecould have died like Heath Ledger if he has not changed his wild ways. He sasy he was overcome with emotion at Ledger's funeral when he realized how lucky he was to escape Ledger's fate. The Australian actor died of an overdose.

Farrell recalls, "(I felt) this could've been me. I wouldn't describe it as survivor's guilt, but yes, that came into it a little bit. It makes you ask some questions about yourself."

Farrell was drafted in as one of three replacements for Ledger to finish the movie 'The Imaganinarium of Doctor Parnassus' which Ledger was filming when he died of a drug overdose in Janury 2008.

Farrell says the death of Ledger forced him to re-examine his own life and he believes he has become a better person because of it.

Were Robert Pattinson quotes about Kristen Stewart made up?

Did the London Sun make up the quotes about Robert Pattinson being an item with Kristen Stewart?

The Internet is buzzing with speculation that they did, and that Rob may not have made the comments at all.

The reason for the delay is that Pattinson's press agents are neither denying nor confirming that he made the quotes, which is unusual for them.

Some believe he did so purely to paper over an interview he did with Details magazine, where he made some very strange comments about women and their private parts.

That has caused a slew of comments that Pattinson is secretly gay, which hardly seems the case given his man about town reputation.

It would not be the first time a tabloid reported fiction as fact, but would the Sun be that brazen?

Let's watch this space.

Colin Farrell 'fesses up to 'Miami Vice' turkey

Colin Farrell said he "didn't like it (Miami Vice) so much."

Neither did we Colin. It was awful.

The Dublin actor, who reprised Don Johnson's role as James "Sonny" Crocket in the 2008 movie, said "'Miami Vice'? I didn't like it so much - I thought it was style over substance and I accept a good bit of the responsibility."

Colin (above with Jamie Foxx in the movie poster) said "It was never going to be Lethal Weapon, but I think we missed an opportunity to have a friendship that also had some elements of fun."

The movie was a flop at the box office, losing about $60 million.

"Miami Vice," was Farrell's last big blockbuster movie role. He has done several smaller movies since but one can't help thinking that the Irish Don Johnson didn't appeal too much to "Vice" fans.

Anjelica Huston to star in 'I'm With Cancer'

Irish American actress Anjelica Huston has signed on to star in Anna Kendrick's follow up movie from her Oscar Nominated "Up in the Air."

Huston will join cast, Philip Baker Hall, James McAvoy and Seth Rogen in filming the quirky movie in Vancouver in the next few months.

The movie, directed by "The Wackness's" Johathan Levine, is a comedy about a twentysomething (McAvoy) who discovers he has cancer and his ensuing battle to fight it.

It’s based on the real story of Will Reiser, (he writes the script) who also successfully battled cancer.

It is unclear what part Huston will be playing.

Cillian Murphy goes drag in 'Peacock'

Irish actor Cillian Murphy is set to hit the big screens later this year in a one role that has him playing two people; John, a quiet bank clerk and Emma, who takes care of him.

Murphy, who reveals his multiple personalities early in the movies, stars in Michael Lander's psychological thriller, "Peacock," set in the town of Peacock, Nebraska.

The movie is said to be reminiscent of the 60s classic "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock.

After a train crashes into John Skillpa's (Murphy) back yard, he can no longer hide his other personality, Emma.

In an effort to keep the townsfolk from talking, Skillpa needs to convince everyone that John and Emma are husband and wife.

And while accomplishing that, other strange things begin to happen, like murder!

Murphy, dressed as Emma, as can be seen above with Susan Sarandon. Others joining the pair in the movie are Ellen Page, Bill Pulman and Josh Lucas.

Sarah Jessica Parker says she oh-so-bad at doing her own make-up

She's gorgeous, talented, flawless and yet the perfectly toned Sarah Jessica Parker is not good at applying make-up.

Well girl, I guess that's what happens when you have dozens of make-up artists doing it for you day in and day out. Pick up a brush and give it a go, it's ain't rocket science!

Sarah Jess, 44, told People.com she doesn't wear make-up when she is not filming because she does not know how to apply it.

"I am, I confess, very bad at make-up. I don’t wear any in my real life, my personal life. There’s no time for it and I’m not good at it," she told People.com.

“I don’t want to have to do it to myself - I wouldn’t know where to begin,” she added.

Don't worry "Sex and the City" fans, it's almost a guarantee that Sarah Jessica, who plays the glam doll journalist, Carrie Bradshaw on the show and in the movies, will be made-up to the last when she hits our big screens this coming May.

George Clooney pledges his heart to Italy

George Clooney, the so-called sexiest man alive, has shunned reports that he is going to sell up his mansion villa in Lake Como in Italy because of paparazzi stalking him while his is in town trying to enjoy his vacation.

It has been widely reported by various media outlets that Clooney planned to sell his Lake Como villa in exchange for a new, less obvious, home in Lake Loreto Island.

However, Clooney said there is no truth in such reports.

In a statement released this week, Clooney said, "To complete the news cycle: I am not buying an island and am not selling my house in Italy. The story was made up, then picked up and now denied. End of another riveting day of false news."

Kathy Griffin: 'It's so much fun to get in Chris Meloni's face in SVU'

Kathy Griffin, who is to star on an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" next week said she is getting serious for her role.

Griffin told E! Entertainment that the character she plays on the upcoming episode, (a militant lesbian activist) "is definitely more serious than I usually do."

Griffin, who works side by side with Mariska Hargitay on this episode, is initially a suspect to her partner's murder but as soon as the SVU team realize she too is in danger they provide her with protection.

Said Griffin, "First of all, let me apologize to the other ladies who are going to lose the Emmy to me this year because they probably worked very hard. But you know what? It's my time," she jokes.

"It's so much fun to get in Chris Meloni's face," says Kathy, who claims "Law & Order: SVU" is one of her favorite shows.

Hargitay, who shares a passionate kiss with Griffin on the upcoming episode says about her new colleague, "Oh yeah, that's what it's all about for her -- Emmy gold."

Christopher Meloni, Hargitay's partner on the show, said, "Oh yeah, she deserves the bling."

"She's outspoken. She's brash. She's still funny," said Meloni.

Griffin's episode airs next Wednesday on NBC and she says, "I think a lot of straight men will be pleased and I think a lot of lesbians will be pleased."

Conan O'Brien is bored

Clearly, the talented and every so funny Conan O'Brien is bored off his brains.

Four weeks after he released himself from his job as host of 'The Tonight Show' Conan sat down and had some fun with Twitter.

Conan, the lovable Irish redhead, is a virgin tweeter and made his twitter debut a good one.

He wrote, "Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me."

O'Brien has hundreds of thousands of followers and he only joined the tweeting world Wednesday.

It's clear that Conan is still a loved man.

Susan Boyle needs 24 hour care says brother John

Susan Boyle now needs 24-hour care, says her brother John in a shocking revelation in 'PEOPLE' magazine that will stun her loyal fans.

It is the first time that John has spoken out about his sister, who was catapulted to fame last year on ‘Britain's Got Talent,' but who has often struggled in public with the burden of her unexpected success.

Her other brother Gerry has often voiced concern about Susan, but the fact that he has now been joined by John is a matter of deep concern.

"The traveling and the whole [fame] thing is exhausting. She still has her anxieties and her loneliness," her brother Gerry tells PEOPLE.

Boyle acted erratically at Heathrow Airport recently and it seems nighttime is especially tough for her since her house was broken into in Blackburn in Scotland.

She makes many late night calls to friends and family, which has fueled the speculation that she is need of help.

A close friend has revealed that she often comes to stay with her. "She knows she can come up to me anytime," says Lorraine Campbell. "If she's upset, she'll stay the night. Security would bring her up to my house. I take her home in the morning. Susan stayed with me a week ago. Nighttime is a lonely time for her."

Staying sober saved Colin Farrell's career

Former Irish bad boy Colin Farrell says getting sober saved his troubled career. In recent years his lifestyle has resembled a 1960's rock and roll star's more than that of a professional actor - and his career and public image suffered mightily as a result.

Directors thought twice before they cast him, even his fellow actors sometimes gave him a wide berth.

But that version of Colin Farrell is gone. The former party animal has turned into a devoted dad and reveals reveals that he gave up drinking so that he could focus on his acting career.

“I just wanted to stop. I was done with it, I was tired of it, I wanted to get off the treadmill,” Colin said yesterday. “Giving up alcohol has put more focus on my career. I’m a lot more appreciative over what I have,” he admits.

Picking up the Irish equivalent of an Oscar on Saturday night he publicly thanked his girlfriend Alicja Bachleda and he must have thanked himself for making smatter choices these days.Staying Sober Saved Colin Farrell's Career

Lindsay Lohan to move to the UK?

Troubled screen starlet Lindsay Lohan may not be with us much longer. After recently spending some time overseas in London, Lohan now sounds as if she’s contemplating a permanent move to the UK.

Lohan, who returned back to the States over the weekend after attending a few London Fashion Week events, tweeted her plans on her Twitter account.

Giving her reasons for the desired change of scenery, LiLo explained, “Better dj’s/music and Paris is just a Chunnel away!”

The talk of heading off to live in London comes after a recent interview about her past drug use and her enduring love for her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who she dubbed “the only girl for her”.

In the three ring media circus that is her life in the U.S., it's hard to blame the young star for her decision. And maybe she's figured out that croissants taste best in a French pastry shop that's actually in Paris.

Pattinson in hot water over race remarks?

It's Black History month and not the best time for screen hunk Robert Pattinson to dip a toe in the hot button racial politics of the USA. But the handsome Twilight star sat down with Details magazine this month and made a racially charged comment with surprising ease.

His interviewer, Jenny Lumet, is a black journalist and here’s the dialogue she had with Pattinson:

Details: Rob, did you know that every time you say actor or acting you lower your voice to a whisper?
Rob: (He’s genuinely startled.) “I do?”
Details: Yes, so quietly it’s like you’re saying Negro.
Rob: (He laughs, lightens up.) “What if we were "acting" like "Negroes"? Then we’d be f*cked. We couldn’t hear anything. . .”

It's hard to know what prompted Lumet to lead Pattinson down the racial path by making the Negro comparison in the first place or why Details even felt the need to run this part of the interview (that had nothing to do with the rest of the interview) in print.

But some black commentators have already confessed to being bothered by it. When did it become cool, they ask, to make these off putting jokes nowadays?

Is Lucy Lawless Broadway bound?

Lucy Lawless, 41, the Xena: Warrior Princess beauty, may be Broadway bound. In an interview this week she's admitted she'd like to return to the Times Square jamboree.

"I would love to go back to Broadway. I played Rizzo in Grease, and by golly it's time again," said the star, instantly ensuring that agents are clamoring to book her. The only question now is for which show?

Lawless is currently playing a gladiator training camp owner on the Starz' network's new ancient-Rome drama Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Prior to that her memorable turn as particularly chilling Cylon in Battlestar Galatica won her a new legion of fans.

But this week she's in the news for some racy and revealing sex scenes in her current sword and sandals epic. "Those scenes are shot very carefully, and there's never skin-on skin-contact. Everyone is wearing modesty patches, and you choreograph well in advance," says the Irish American star. "But yeah, it was pretty shocking even for me watching that."

Lawless is far from disappointed that she's not sword fighting in the new show. It means that she has time to relax a bit on her new set. Asked if she misses all the jumping around she laughs: "God, no! I always detested it. Sitting, popping grapes in my mouth and giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down is perfect."

Mickey Rourke defends Megan Fox's acting skills

Irish American actor Mickey Rourke has come to the defense of Transformers star (and fellow Irish American) Megan Fox, saying that the young star's acting skills receive undue criticism because she's beautiful.

Rourke, 57, who co-stars with Fox, 23, in new movie Passion Play, insists that she has more than enough acting chops.

“She doesn’t drink or do drugs," say Rourke "People say bad stuff about her and how she can’t act but they only say that because she’s beautiful,” he told the press this week. “She’s the most talented actress I’ve worked with. When she cries in a scene, I get emotional,” he added.

Mischa Barton's new look could mean new roles?

It's been four years since The O.C. went off the air, but Mischa Barton is still never far from the headlines. If only she could trade her most photographed celebrity role for an actual screen one! This week Barton has devised a new plan to save her career – which let’s face it has been more or less on auto-pilot since 2007.

The gorgeous 23-year-old hogtie who currently spends her days running over curbs while smoking suspicious looking substances hopes that her recently dyed blond locks will move her in the direction of an acting payday.

As one source tells the press, “She’s convinced being blonde is the key to changing her fortunes because not only does she feel more positive but she’s found people to be more positive towards her — guys especially!”

Hopefully those guys will include an impressed film director or two. Barton's meant for better things than just the celebrity sightings file.

Olivia Wilde, feminist icon (not really)

Olivia Wilde is gorgeous, smart as a whip and - when you actually meet her - wise and witty about the Hollywood game.

That's why it's so depressing to see her still posing for glamour shots that are way more Penthouse than Park Avenue.

This week the Irish American starlet who's proud of her Irish roots and her acting training in Dublin appears in Elle magazine in a provocative spread that underlines her blistering star power.

But, seriously, can there be anyone left in the world (teenage boys included) who still doesn't know that she's a total bombshell? Getting into figure hugging lingerie in an Elle photo spread may catch people's attention, but maybe not in a way that'll land you a role in a serious film, Olivia. Besides, you've done the whole pinup thing before, countless times (the image above is from a GQ spread that makes my point).

Remember young and impressionable girls are looking at this and thinking: is that what I have to do to get some attention?

Pierce Brosnan to star in The Thomas Crown Affair sequel?

Irish actor Pierce Brosnan has revealed that he may be reprising his role as a master thief in a sequel to the dashing "The Thomas Crown Affair."

Brosnan, 56, played a high-class art thief in the fast moving and stylish 1999 thriller, all the while playing a cat and mouse game with an investigator hot on his trail played by Rene Russo. The film was a spectacular remake of a 1968 film starring Steve McQueen. Most reviewers would say that it outclassed the original by a mile.

Brosnan, the former James Bond star, revealed that a screenplay has been written for a follow-up, and he's currently weighing up a deal with studio bosses.

"We have a script and a structure that is good and I hope we can do it, but it's not a definite," Brosnan said. Here's hoping the stars align on this one, it's one of his signature films.

Robert Pattinson is not dating Kristen Stewart

Brace yourselves girls (and boys) Robert Pattinson is NOT dating his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart. The fact is he did not say he was dating his Stewart during the BAFTA Awards post-party. But a tabloid media hungry for news wants you to think he did.

The startling declaration originated from The Sun, one of the most sensational tabloids in Britain, and after an investigating into the source of the story, The Sun's reporter sounds defensive and unconvincing now.

Now some of you may be sighing with relief that Rpatz is still on the market. Would you be surprised to learn that Kristen Stewart may be at the head of that list herself? The young starlet, who in public always looks like she's about to undergo an especially challenging root canal, obviously doesn't love all the trappings that come with fame and fortune. She won't enjoying being linked to her co-star if it's not true. Hollywood's a game but some don't enjoy playing along.

Today The Sun's unnamed reporter was the one admitting now that Pattinson did not say he is dating Stewart, confirming Pattinson "didn't say 'we are a couple'" and adding "he wasn't going to spell it out in great detail."

So no scoop there, folks. Just a lot of insinuation and wishful thinking. Regarding why the reporter quoted him as saying "We are together", he said he was actually questioning "Is this a public appearance together?" As for how he led to conclusion that Pattinson "admitted" he was Stewart's boyfriend, the reporter said "That's my assumption from what he said."

Assumptions aren't facts. This whole story looks like it was just wishful thinking.

Adam Lambert disses Susan Boyle

American Idol pop sensation Adam Lambert may want to choose his words more carefully next time. In a widely circulated report this week Lambert revealed that singer Susan Boyle’s cover of the Rolling Stones’ hit Wild Horses was horrendous and made him cry with laughter.

Boyle’s mega selling album I Dreamed A Dream kept the Idol runner-up off the top of the U.S. charts after he released For Your Entertainment in November last year. So his half-serious wisecracks now have the distinct flavor of sour grapes about them.

Lambert, 28, sold 200,000 copies in his first week but he couldn’t believe he was toppled off the top spot by 48-year-old Boyle’s album. “If only it weren’t for Susan Boyle!" he laughed. "I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible. Wild Horses is the one that made me laugh the hardest,” he told the press.

“I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song! Still, when my album charted, it was validating. I was feeling bit attacked, like I had to vindicate something. I thought: ‘Wow, look what I did’,” he added.

In his defense, Adam says he's been widely misquoted. He and Susan appeared on Oprah together last month and they certainly seemed to get along well. He was also clearly laughing when he said the words quoted above, but it's not hard to see why they've created such a stir. When the target is a singer who has outsold him by millions, the attack seems promptet by jealousy and pettiness.

If Lambert actually did say the things he's being quoted as saying, he'll need to keep in mind that things in print can look different from things that are said. Both have tons of talent, there's no need for them to indulge in petty squabbles in the press.

American Idol hopeful Siobhan Magnus blows 'em away with 'Wicked Game'

Irish American Idol hopeful Siobhan Magnus blew the TV critics away last night with her rendition of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game."

"The highlight of the night was undoubtedly Siobhan Magnus' performance of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game."

So says MTV's Kyle Anderson adding that she deserved extra credit for taking on such a difficult tune.

Judge Ellen also liked Siobhan's performance saying it was "good enough to forget this was a singing competition."

Lindsay Parker on Yahoo.com had this to say: "Siobhan completely floored me tonight. I was stunned by her huge voice and smoky tone.

"I personally thought "Wicked Game" really displayed her wicked stylistic range. I'm keeping my eye on this girl."

Of course crotchety judge Simon Cowell said it was a bit dark and dismissed Siobhan as "a funny little thing."

Yeah, well, he'll be the one with egg all over his face when she makes it through to the next round.

You go Siobhan!

'Two and a Half Men,' on hiatus as Charlie Sheen goes into rehab

Production on "Two and a Half Men," has halted as star Charlie Sheen has gone into rehab.

No word on what the embattled actor is doing rehab for.

Sheen's wife Brooke is also in rehab again for undisclosed reasons as the pair try to get charges dropped against Sheen over an incident two months when Sheen was arrested after a fight with his wife at their plush home in Aspen, Colo.

Sheen was later charged with felony menacing and misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and criminal mischief. Sheen potentially faces three years in jail for the most serious charge which relates to the alleged use of a deadly weapon in a threatening manner.

Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield has pleaded for Sheen to be given some privacy.

In the meantime,Sheen's bosses at CBS are being supportive - so far - but "Two and a Half Men" is the anchor for their Monday night line-up bringing in nearly 18 million viewers for recent episodes.

How to get that Snooki from 'Jersey Shore' look

Kate McKinnon, 26, an Irish American comedian from New York, has been channeling Snooki, star of "Jersey Shore," for her new act with the Upright Citizens Brigade.

"You try to be as brain-dead as possible," McKinnon told the Daily News about playing the much-mimicked and maligned Snooki (pictured). "You just try to feel so good about yourself when you have no reason to."

"She has a completely unsexy sexuality," says McKinnon, as she applies foundation in a "Deep Caramel" color. "She's a good girl — she's brazen."

She says several applications of kohl eyeliner around the entire perimeter of the eye and gobs of mascara are a must. More is the key.

"Snooki's got the soul of a princess in the body of an orange garden gnome," says McKinnon. To get orange, she applied more foundation. As in, she poured it all over herself. Then she applied lip gloss for pout-perfect lips. It took her three days to get all the foundation off.

To achieve Snooki's infamous "poof," McKinnon uses two wigs. "You really just need to put on a wig," says McKinnon of adopting the "Shore" persona. "She's already such a huge, crazy character."

"There's a quiet dignity to Snooki that I think people don't really appreciate," adds McKinnon with a wink.

Lady GaGa gets her goods out for Q magazine

Shrinking violet Lady GaGa has gone topless for a Q photo shoot. The “Poker Face” star did the spread in December just before she was diagnosed with exhaustion, and it seems that the shoot was a bit of an ordeal.

That said, during the emotional interview she did reveal that she is not all crazy glam and loves the more “normal” things in life.

“Well, I believe in certain institutions: cooking, serving dinner, taking care of my family. So I consider myself quite the lady,” said Lady GaGa, before she saw stills from the shoot, lost the plot because she didn’t like the way she looked and left in tears.

However, she has rested up since then and come back with a stirring performance at the Grammys with that other Queen of drama, Elton John.

She must have replenished with some good home cooking!

Olivia Wilde is making pulse rates race in March “Elle” shoot

The photo shoot of Olivia Wilde in the March issue of “Elle” should come with a health warning, so hot are the snaps of the “House” actress.

Wilde, who holds an Irish passport I’ll have you know, is uber beautiful in these pics, which are about to send her off the sexy barometer charts!

The 25-year-old actress continues to impress on the small screen in the Fox hit “House,” and will star on the silver screen later this year with Jeff Bridges and Michael Sheen in “Tron Legacy.”

U2 gets some top talent to support North American leg of 2010 360 tour

Not many acts pass up the opportunity to support U2 on a world tour, but fans of the Irish quartet will be delighted with the quality of some of the acts who have agreed to join the band on the North American leg of their 2010 360 tour.

Lenny Kravtiz, The Fray and Interpol will rock some stadia around the country as the Claw grapples its way around the nation.

Kravitz will tear up the stage before Bono blasts the anthems in Salt Lake, Anaheim and Denver for four dates at the start of the tour in early June.

The Fray will take over for the next three gigs before Interpol police the next six gigs.

Talk about two for the price of one!

Check out the dates and the ticket availability here

Adam Lambert disses Susan Boyle’s album

The outspoken and flamboyant American Idol runner up Adam Lambert recently took some time out of his busy schedule to thrash Susan Boyle’s album.

Lambert‘s own album opened well in its first week with 200,000 sales last November, but Subo’s record kept him off the number one spot with over 700,000 sales, something that ruffled his feathers a little.

"If only it weren't for Susan Boyle! I'm happy for her success, but that album is terrible. Wild Horses is the one that made me laugh the hardest.

“I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!”

Now now Adam, is that a little bit of the green monster I am hearing?

Robert Pattinson admits he's dating Kristen Stewart

'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson has told a British tabloid that he is dating his co-star Kristen Stewart.

The two attended the BAFTA awards in London separately where Stewart won the Orange Rising Star Award.

Rumors about the couple have swirled for months but it has never been confirmed that they are seeing each other.

At an event following the awards show Pattinson told The Sun: "It is extremely difficult but we are together, yes. We can't arrive at the same time because of the fans. It goes crazy. This was supposed to be a public appearance as a couple but it's impossible.

“We are here together and it's a public event but it's not easy. We have to do all this stuff to avoid attention."

Lindsay Lohan says father at fault over her cocaine use

Hollywood's Lindsay Lohan says her father Michael first introduced her to cocaine and she hit rock bottom because of him .

"I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad," Lohan said in an interview in the London Sun .

"I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid, and wanted to see what it was like."

Lohan, 23, says she hit "rock bottom" in 2007 when her father began knocking her in the press.

"I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems. People need to know that," she admits. "I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances."

"It's not something I ever want to do again," she says about the drug. "It made me feel like s---. It became uninteresting to me. I'm hyper anyway and I have that kind of personality so I don't need something like that."

She says she feared for her life after an overdose of the sleeping drug Ambien in a bathroom after which she fell asleep and woke up beside an overflowing bath

"The bath had overflowed. When I woke up, I was so scared. I called my therapist and said, 'Can I just go somewhere for a month?'" she says. "'I'm around bad people and I need to take care of myself.' I was terrified, so I put myself in."

"I learnt from my mistakes and I'm now healthy and happier. I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to have my whole life," she says.

"I've made some dreadful mistakes but learned from them - that has probably saved my life.”

Saoirse Ronan says kids get messed up in Hollywood

Saoirse Ronan has stated that she will never move to Hollywood full time because she has seen "kids get messed up there."

"They just stop being genuine people.""I would never want to move to Los Angeles." she told the Evening Herald.

She says she is delighted with her spectacular success so far "It's lovely, for the past few years it has happened and it's like, 'Wow'. Yes, it's fantastic," she said.

"I think the thing to remember is that you can never predict what is going to happen.

"I can't, Meryl Streep can't, nobody can and you have to take every day as it comes and never take things too seriously."

Jonathan Rhys Meyers admits he's so vain

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has admitted he is vain and that if he had been born "short and fat" he would not be a major star.

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald Rhyss Meyers stated that how you look "defines the roles that you play. The reason Angelina Jolie plays the roles she does is because she looks that way."

He says he is motivated by vanity nowadays : "Any actor who sits down in front of you and tells you they're not vain, it's bullshit. To get up in front of a camera, of course you have to have a certain amount of vanity. All acting is narcissism in some way. Am I a narcissistic person? Absolutely. Am I vain? Absolutely."

However he maintains he is not into the Hollywood lifestyle

"You don't see me dating a Hollywood actress," he says. (He was dating Reena Hammer, heir to the cosmetic line Ruby & Millie, until recently). "And you don't see me playing golf with politicians and directors. I live a very un-Hollywood life yet I do a very Hollywood job."

He says he got into acting for the "soft money" it offered.

Susan Boyle deeply unhappy, says brother Gerry

Susan Boyle's brother Gerry believes his sister is desperately unhappy and needs love in her life.

Gerry Boyle told The People newspaper that "It's just all so sad, so sad. Susan has the world at her feet in terms of fame and money but at this precise moment in time it means nothing. Absolutely nothing.

"The one thing she wants above all everything else is love. Who doesn't?

"Her biggest wish is to find someone who she can share her success with and support her through the difficult times.

"Of course her family will always be there for her but it is not the same as having someone special in your life."

The People reports that Boyle has increasingly "enchanted" by manager Andy Stephens 59, who began representing her last year but there are no suggestions of a romance betwen the pair.

Gerry said: "She sees how happy and contented he is with his family and wants that kind of security and love for herself.

"Susan knows she can jet anywhere in the world first-class, eat in the best restaurants and stay in the top hotels but that means nothing to her if she doesn't have anyone to share those moments with. All those throw-away comments about Pebbles her cat being her soulmate were a way of masking unhappiness."

Gerry said: "If I'm honest, things aren't great for Susan at the moment on a personal level. She's absolutely exhausted after non-stop traveling promoting her album around the world.

"As a result she flares up easily - though saying that, she can bounce back almost instantly.

"Getting back to her little council home used to be her release but now it's more like a prison cell.

"After she was confronted by an intruder last month, she can't sleep even though she has security posted outside her home 24/7. Susan's become a curtain twitcher - she spends hours in the night staring out from behind her curtains.

"When she can't sleep, she rings me or plays things over and over in her head until they almost crush her. I try and lift her out of this negative mind-set but it is so hard. When she hasn't got anyone special to lean on, things begin to go wrong for her. Susan has this impression that everybody thinks she is some kind of freak because of her appearance on stage and this is what puts men off.

"Of course her money and fame would intimidate most men and I know the jokes about Susan being nicknamed the 'Hairy Angel' hurt her enormously."

"The harsh reality is that Susan has to control her fame, not the other way around.

"Maybe if Mr. Special came along, everything in the garden would be rosy again, but as she's off to Australia I'm not holding my breath."

Charlize Theron turns to Kabbalah after breakup

Charlize Theron has turned to Jewish mystical religion Kabbalah after her break-up from Irish actor Stuart Townsend.

Theron has begun attending Kabbalah classes in Hollywood and has been wearing the distinctive red bracelet that denotes followers.

Other famous followers of Kabbalah include Madonna and Demi Moore.

"Charlize is wearing the thickest red bracelet, which helps ward off bad will," a source told the Daily Mail.

"Kabbalah is not just a religious interest for her - she also views it as a means to more of a social life and mixing with the Hollywood elite."

Theron was recently seen dining with Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino soon after her Townsend breakup.

Mr. Big Chris Noth drops 20 pounds for 'Sex and the City 2'

Mr. Big, Irish American actor Chris Noth, had to undergo radical boot camp surgery to shed 20 pounds for his bedroom scenes in "Sex and the City 2."

Producers told him a body double would be needed if he didn't drop the weight quickly, according to the Daily Mail.

Noth went to a boot camp in Brazil for several weeks to lose the extra poundage -- and succeeded just in time.

"Luckily Chris’s weight loss was sufficient and a stand-in wasn’t required," says an insider.

"He did really well to lose it and is proud that his cheeks will now be seen by millions of 'Sex and the City' fans."

Robert Pattinson to ditch Kristen Stewart, seen with mystery redhead

Does Robert Pattinson have a new love in his life?

British tabloids are reporting that the "Twilight" star has "been partying in London with a mystery redhead" and that his relationship with Kristen Stewart is on the rocks after she was seen with Sean Penn in Hollywood earlier this month. He is also planning to move back to England.

"Rob plans to ditch his Canadian pad," a mole told the Daily Mail. "In London he feels he can be normal.

"He’s been going to dinner parties and pubs with his mates, just like old times. He doesn’t want a Hollywood girlfriend and he hasn’t spoken about Kristen for a while so we think that’s off."

"He’s been spending time with a very pretty redhead.

"They hang out in the Macbeth pub in Hoxton and at the Notting Hill Arts Club. Rob wears a black woolly hat and a beard as a disguise. He got very agitated once when a fan recognized him and asked for a picture."

Suzanne Somers slammed by Whoopi Goldberg over Patrick Swayze comments

Suzanne Somers has been strongly criticized by Whoopi Goldberg over her comments that Patrick Swayze should not have undergone chemotherapy for his pancreatic cancer.

Goldberg stated “In case she doesn't know, Patrick did everything and went everywhere to try and stay healthy as long as he could.”

She added that Somers “should know better”

Somers , born Suzanne Mahoney into an Irish Catholic family in Los Angeles, and famous for 70’s hit sitcom “Three’s Company” told a Canadian reporter that Swayze would have extended his life by using alternative methods, not chemotherapy.

Somers says she made a mistake and didn't know the person she was speaking to was a reporter .

"I was not informed or aware I was being interviewed. I would never have been so insensitive as to offer a public statement so close to his untimely passing. I sincerely apologize if my comment has caused any additional pain to his family during this difficult time. I send my deepest condolences for their loss."

Are Susan Boyle's handlers endangering her health?

Susan Boyle collapsing at Heathrow Airport is not a good sign for her future health.

This is the second time in recent weeks that an airport incident has led to Susan being in the headlines.

It all speaks to an incredible lack of caring by her handlers.

The message is clear. Susan, who is making millions for everyone, should be flying by private jet to her overseas appointments.

She should not be forced to wait in line in airports where she is clearly ill at ease. The stress factor in airports is well known to everyone to begin with.

When you add in the incredible scrutiny that Susan faces at every public appearance, and the fact that she has been month after month in this same intense spotlight, it seems clear what the way to handle this is.

Are her handlers that cheap that they cannot afford a private jet for their prize asset, the woman who is making millions for everyone?

Bet your bottom dollar that Simon Cowell is not flying with the great unwashed when he sets out for Los Angeles.

No way Susan should be either. It is just common sense. The journey too far may be only around the corner. It is is time her handlers took heed.

Colin Farrell reveals all as diaper man and loving father

Colin Farrell has revealed how happy he is as a father to two sons, including even when he is changing diapers. He has taken five months off so far to be with them in Los Angeles and does not expect to work again until June

The star was on Ireland’s "Late Late Show" and spoke about his children in frank terms.

He said he has been home with his four month-old son Henry for the past few months and relishes diaper duty. He met Henry’s mother, Alicja Bachleda, during the filming of "Ondine," his latest movie set in Ireland, which premiered there this week.

“It’s an honor he told host Ryan Tubridy, about changing diapers “it's actually good crack (fun), he is so lovely.”

He said he found changing diapers "easy" but would not have liked to do it in “the days of towels and pins.”

He has also been spending more time with his other son James who is six with actress Kim Bordenave. James has Angelman Syndrome, which makes it very difficult for him to communicate.

He said he and his child "communicate with signs…" and also with “expression and energy.”

Sometimes he said it can be frustrating, as the time when his son had an ear infection and they didn’t know for weeks. "I said 'Sorry little man’" when he eventually found out, he said.

He revealed he and Bachleda did not become involved during filming but rather afterwards when some scenes were reshot. “We took a closer look at each other,” he said.

Robert Pattinson is bothered by Jimmy Fallon

Set your clocks folks, March 1st has been announced as the face off between Robert Pattison and his late night scourge Jimmy Fallon.

If you haven't seen Fallon's 'Robert Pattinson is bothered'...skits then you likely live in the same tree that Fallon's fake vampire lives in.

So March 1 is the date that Pattinson will appear on the Irish American king of comedy's late night show --an event sure to set the blogosphere bleating like never before.

No one does Pattinson like Jimmy Fallon. He catches the look perfectly, dark, glowering and yet insanely funny because in the end Fallon is a natural mimic who gets Pattinson's appeal in a way few do.

The Pattinson role has been very important for Fallon, allowing him to break through the clutter of the late night TV talk fest and to position himsef as aiming at a younger, more edgy demographic.

For Pattinson too the comedy has helped, allowing him to to attain the status of a late night cult figure, someone Jimmy Fallon, likely the next king of comedy has focused on. The fact that Pattinson is focusing on his show in turn speaks volumes. These guys need each other.

March 1st, as he promotes 'Remember Me' Fallon and Pattinson come face to face. It is an encounter not to miss, a pre-St.Patrick's parade of top talent and quick wit. We will all be tuned in.

Stephen Colbert gets his Irish up at Winter Olympics

Stephen Colbert took the Winter Olympics by storm last night showing up at the Irish House and announcing "I am Stephen Colbert. I am the lord of the dance," he told the hollering crowd according to the Vancouver Sun.

He also poked fun at Vancouver broadcaster Dave Abbott, seated beside him onstage. "Here is living proof that the Irish live hard," he said, as he put his arm around the grey-haired Abbott. "This man is 16."

He asked the crowd about just how Irish they were, "Now are there actual people from Ireland here?" He shouted : "Who wants to celebrate Irish culture?" In response to the crowd's screams, Colbert opened up a book and pretended to read from James Joyce and 'Ulysses' .

"All right. Ulysses by James Joyce. Chapter 1," he said, reading the opening passage. "Get comfortable. This is going to take a little while."

When a bar brawl threatened to happen Colbert quipped about the Irish fighting "with the softest of fists."

Abbott asked Colbert about his heritage. Colbert said he was 100 percent Irish and Abbott deadpanned: "Would that account for your strange behaviour?" Colbert responded: "Yes, and my strength of character."

Before leaving the stage, Colbert sang an Irish tune with the crowd clapping along, then left to thunderous applause.

Sounds like a ball.

I'm glad I quit booze, Irish drinking culture is boring, says Colin Farrell

Former hellraiser Colin Farrell says being sober is way more fun than being drunk.

Farrell, 33, says he finds the whole Irish drinking culture "boring."

"Now – two hours in the pub, then I get bored. I was at that party for long enough."

Like many an Irish person before him, Farrell says he started drinking really heavily because he was trying to pretend he didn't care about success.

He says he didn't feel "worthy" of his movie career.

"Giving up alcohol has put more focus on my career. I'm a lot more appreciative over what I have. For years I was adamantly trying to show that I wasn't worthy or that I didn't know why it happened to me. I enjoy it a lot more now," he says.

"I just wanted to stop drinking. I was done with it, I was tired of it, I wanted to get off the treadmill.

Colin has previously admitted he used to drink so heavily, he worried it would kill him.

He said: "I'd been drinking since I was 14. I was pretty sick. At the beginning of recovery I found it really hard.

"For me there was no choice. It was tough but I was dying. I was struggling not to have a complete meltdown. I was just gone. I'm glad I'm out of that cycle, I'm very lucky.”

Jesus was gay says Sir Elton John

Sir Elton John has made an extraordinary claim that Jesus was gay in an interview with Parade Magazine.

"I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems."he said.

"Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead."

He also describes how he and his husband, David Furnish got together."I was attracted to David immediately. He was very well dressed, very shy. The next night we had dinner.

"After it, we fell in love very quickly."

As for his other lovers before Furnish he said there was always a pattern "I'd always choose someone younger. I wanted to smother them with love. I'd take them around the world, try to educate them.

"One after another they got a Cartier watch, a Versace outfit, maybe a sports car.

"They didn't have jobs. They were reliant on me.

"In six months they were bored and hated my guts because I'd taken their lives and self-worth away. I hadn't intended to."

'I'm really very maternal,' says Megan Fox

"Transformers" hottie, Megan Fox, admits she is very maternal.

Megan, who features on the cover of the W Magazine's March issue, says that although no one believes her when she says it, "I'm really maternal."

Fox, 23, was spotted Monday shopping with her boyfriend Brian Austin Green and his son Kassius in Los Angelas.

They looked very comfortable together and Megan was having a great time with Kassius.

Megan told W, “No one believes me when I talk about this, but I’m really maternal,”

“I worry that because I’ve always wanted [children] so much, as the world goes sometimes, I won’t be able to have them. Even though I would be able to provide them with such an amazing environment.”

Colin Farrell caught speeding in England

Irish movie star Colin Farrell was slapped with a late-night speeding fine in Bath, England last summer.

Farrell, who was cruising along in his Range Rover, was caught on speed camera driving 45 miles an hour in a 30 mile an hour zone on London Road in Bath.

Farrell, who failed to appear at Bath Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday), was snapped breaking the speed limit at 1.49 am on June 27 last year.

The Irish heartthrob sent the Magistrates Court a handwritten letter of apology yesterday.

Farrell, who uses an American driving license, pleaded guilty to both the speeding offense and failing to provide information identifying the driver of the vehicle.

Farrell, 33, said the car was registered to a film production company based in London.

His letter said: "I sincerely apologize for not having responded to the original notice of intended prosecution as the initial notice and further correspondence in regard to the speeding offence were delivered to Ealing Studios.

"I am, and have been, residing in the United States and therefore have not received or been aware of the information regarding this offence.

"The Range Rover was registered at the company address and therefore the correspondence was delivered there.

"I look forward to resolving this matter with the court's assistance and once again apologize for the lapse in correspondence due to the mishandling of address material by the production company at Ealing Studios."

Farrell, who did not have any other driving offenses in England was fined £60, ordered to pay £35 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge, and has been given three penalty points on his license. He has been given 21 days to pay his fine.

Bono crashes Fashion Week party for Rodarte

U2 frontman, Bono, was in New York for Fashion Week this week and much to the delight of skinny models, rich fashion designers and snobby celebs, the Irish rock star crashed a well known fashion party on Tuesday night.

Bono, who brought some friends, kindly dropped in to meet and greet the designers of Rodarte to tell them how wonderful he thinks their clothes are. Wonder does he even wear their clothes or was he just looking to party with skinny models? Ummm!

Rodarte is a brand of clothing and accessories founded by Kate and Laura Mulleavy.

Bono stayed for a long while chatting to everyone and anyone including British actress and model, Karen Elson.

The party, which was held at the Black Market in the East Village, erupted when they saw the famous rockstar come through the doors.

Also at the party was Natalie Portman, Kirsten Dunst, Spike Jonze and Jason Schwartzman.

Rodarte designer and co-founder Kate Mulleavy said "Of course I'm delighted he came, I'm a huge fan."

Bono says he's ready to turn fifty in 2010

Bono says he is ready to embrace his fiftieth birthday which takes place on May 10th and is using Leonard Cohen as his model. He attended a Cohen show last year and “I realized that all my favorite songs he wrote in his 50s and 60s. That, to me, was a throwdown.” Bono was speaking during an interview with Q magazine in Britain.

He promised some new material when the band resumes its tour. “Even if it’s an EP or a single song,”... We’ve been listening to new material for “Songs of Ascent”. We haven’t fully decided to press ‘go’ on that,” Bono said.

What will go ahead he believes is 'Spiderman' the financially troubled show set for Broadway saying it is "potentially one of the best things we’ve ever done”
He also believes there is much to be accomplished by holding the World Cup soccer finals in South Africa. “It’s important that the world gets to see the majesty and magical side of that most extraordinary continent,” he said.

Enough already of Lady Gaga

Enough already of Lady Gaga. Jeez. Would someone just take this woman away for a week, a month even.

I am so-o-o sick of countless gushing articles raving about Lady Gaga. So, she won three Brit Awards last night.

So what?

What does she actually sound like?

All I ever read about are her outfits - like last night's ghastly three-tiered dress and that ridiculously tall white wig.

The Irish Independent said she looked like Elton John dressed as Louis XVI at his 50th birthday bash which probably wasn't the look she was aiming for!

Lady Gaga, whose "Poker Face" single was the biggest-selling song of 2009, won awards for International Breakthrough, International Female Solo Artist and International Album.

I wonder will she ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame?

And why's she so bonkers at being called from Yonkers?

Robert Pattinson says swarming girl fans made New York filming ridiculous

Robert Pattinson, the screen hunk of the moment, struggled mightily to stay in character on the set of his new film Remember Me - because he was constantly surrounded by screaming girls during the New York shoot.

In the new film the Twilight hunk plays a young rebel who falls in love with Emilie de Ravin's character. But the young actor insists giving a realistic performance was almost impossible, as the hordes of hysterical fans kept pulling him out of character.

Pattinson tells America's Vogue magazine this month, "It was the most ridiculous experience. You're trying to stay in character and you're trying to walk down the street, but all those people keep reminding you that you're not this character."

Pattinson recently expressed a wish to get closer to all his adoring fans, after being left in awe of how his Irish co-star Pierce Brosnan interacted with his own devotees.

Man cougars! Irish stars Pierce Brosnan and Gabriel Byrne are Hollywood's hottest men

It's official! Irish actor Pierce Brosnan is making a serious attempt to become Hollywood's hottest leading man this week. With no less than four high profile new films opening over the next four months, you could say in 2010 Brosnan's top of the heap.

When audiences start looking for substance over mere style, Brosnan's your leading man, as is his fellow Gael Gabriel Byrne. Byrne, the idolized Dublin-born actor, was recently hailed as one of the sexiest celebrities over 50 by Entertainment Weekly. He's also one of the hottest stars on TV, wowing critics with his role as therapist Dr Paul Westen in HBO's In Treatment.

Byrne's gritty performance as Dr Paul draws from a deep well of experience in his own life where he has battled abuse, addiction and depression to get to where he is today.

If you had to choose between him and the younger - and let's face it, fairly vapid new Hollywood set - there's no question that Byrne's experience and charm would win hands down.

But is our affection for older men a new thing? According to the dating website Parship.ie, more than half of Irish women look for a partner who offers the role of protector; 59 percent want a courageous go-getter; and 85 percent want a sense of security - who better embodies these traits than an experienced older man?

Having if experience; knowing where you've come from and where you're at, having made your mistakes and hopefully learned from them, your 50 something is man worth dating. Audiences at the box office are voting with their feet. On Friday Brosnan's new film The Ghost Writer opens and his performance is already winning high praise from the critics.
