Stephen Colbert pokes fun at Susan Boyle at Grammys

Stephen Colbert made a name for himself early tonight by making comments about Susan Boyle at the Grammys.

Colbert's first remark was a slap at Boyle, stating that while Justin Timberlake had brought "Sexy Back," with his hit song of the same name Susan Boyle had pretty much destroyed all that image with her success.

Then he paid Susan a backhanded compliment saying said that record business was very lucky that a Scottish spinster with flat shoes like Susan had bailed out the industry this year with her astonishing success and album sales.

Leave it to Colbert to be controversial at Susan Boyle's expense.

Is Rosie O'Donnell getting back with her ex Kelli Carpenter?

Is Rosie O'Donnell getting back together with her old partner Kelli Carpenter because of the kids they raised together?

Sure sounds like it if you look at these weekend quotes from Rosie that their four kids keep them together.

“What makes a family is love, and we all love each other,” Rosie said.

“We’re gonna stay together and take care of each other as a family unit.”

Rosie and Kelli raised four children together.

“You have to really look at the four kids and realize that family is forever, which we both believe and it makes it a little bit easier,” adds O’Donnell.

“Our group of kids together is like the Brady Bunch on steroids. Or the Gay-dy Bunch.”

She is adamant she has no hard feeling about Kelly and says she will “take care” of her ex forever.

The pair were together for ten years before separating in 2007.

Since then she has been seeing artist and activist Tracy Kachtick-Anders --but it sure sounds like she still misses Kelli.

Clinton Kelly aces Miss America-- but who is he married to?

Clinton Kelly's star turn as host on Miss America last night has ensured that this Long Island Irishman is about to become one of America's hottest TV properties.

Put simply, he was superb and outshone the women!

He aced it. He was funny without being patronizing and downright condescending as so many previous hosts have been. The women seemed to love him, too.

The nice thing is that winner Miss Virgina has already pledged her year after winning the Virginia title to help with AIDS victims That will certainly go down well with Clinton, who is gay.

The big question however, is who is he married too? His wedding band was glitteringly obvious, but it is not clear who the lucky Mr. Right is.

We have no doubt that this charming 40-year-old Irishman will move on to bigger and better things than "What Not to Wear."

Outrage as Lady Gaga 'dead' in new Irish radio ad

An Irish radio station has incensed Lady Gaga fans worldwide by portraying her as dead in a new radio ad.

104FM is one of the most-popular radio stations in Dublin, but its new ad has Lady Gaga fans screeching.

It shows a woman's body under a canvas with blood seeping out and the title "When you play great music back-to-back someone is gong to get hurt."

There is blood on the wall behind the body, and a woman's leg is protruding from under the canvas.

Beside the dead body is a sign reading "Britney Spears Lady Gaga," a play on Britney Spears and her last name.

Outraged fans have begun deluging the site complaining about the ad.

"This entire campaign is bloodbath in more ways than one. If I were the client I would start freaking out right about now as ad revenue began to fall and listeners switched to stations that did not machete their listeners," says one comment.

"This is disgraceful and completely out of order," said another.

The ad agency responsible is called Bloom and based in Dublin.

It seems the ad has had a major impact on the web, with some sites running headlines about Lady Gaga being dead, not realizing it is a radio station advertisement.

Emilie de Ravin says there was instant chemistry with Robert Pattinson

Emilie de Ravin (above with Robert Pattinson) is one lucky girl.

She says she immediately hit it off with co-star Robert Pattinson "Remember Me."

"I flew to New York to test with Rob and we immediately got along and had instant great chemistry, which is not an easy thing to come by," she said.

"Obviously you're acting, but you want to have that connection with somebody. We had it."

Well how could you not have it Emilie! Rob's the hottest thing around!

With video: Robert Pattinson loved edgy Tyler role in 'Remember Me'

"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson says he loved his role as Pierce Brosnan's son in "Remember Me."

Pattinson, who plays college student Tyler, said it was the first time he'd been offered an edgy male lead.

"Initially, I remember reading the script and thinking ... um ... I like the flow of the dialogue and stuff," he said. "It was just different."

Pattinson, who goes back to playing Edward Cullen in "Twilight" later this year said Tyler had a certain "it" factor about him that he hadn't seen in many other leading male roles in current films.

"It seems like in a lot of ways main characters in other movies, when there is a young guy who is the lead he always seems like a vessel, [he] always [has] to be so naive and ridiculously innocent so the audience can feel that with [him] in the story," he explained. "Tyler didn't feel like that. He was a very specific character."

Elaine Paige says sorry to Susan Boyle

Wow! That was some fast turnaround.

One day Elaine Paige is calling Susan Boyle a virus and the next day she says she didn't mean it that way.

Either way we're glad to hear that Elaine has made up with Susan.

Speaking in London last night Elaine said she never meant to call Susan a virus.

"I wasn’t referring to Susan herself; I was referring to the speed of her fame spreading as fast as a worldwide viral marketing campaign."

"I have always said it’s very hard for someone to be fast-tracked to stardom without any prior experience - I know this as it happened to me when ‘Evita’ opened and I found it extremely difficult in the beginning.

'Today, of course, it’s much harder with the phenomenon of the internet - Facebook, YouTube etc - it seems it only takes minutes for fame to spread around the world - and that’s why I used the word ‘virus’!

Rave reviews for Mel Gibson as Boston Irish cop in 'Darkness''

Mel Gibson is earning rave reviews for his portrayal of a tough Boston Irish cop in "The Edge of Darkness."

Gibson (above) plays detective Thomas Craven, "a cop with nothing to lose who doesn't give a [bleep]," on a mission to hunt down his daughter's killers.

The movie is the first starring role for Gibson since his drunken anti-Semitic outburst made headlines round the world.

Gibson's public persona took a hammering after that incident and then there's also the well-publicized family matter where he left his long-time wife for a much younger woman.

He wisely stayed off the screen but "The Edge of Darkness," shows him back to form.

Gibson was always best playing the unhinged.

Think of the Mad Maxes and the Lethal Weapons and you get the picture.

In "Darkness," Craven discovers corporate cover-ups go hand-in-hand with government collusion are both involved in the murder of his daughter.

He says the movie shows how America is being led to the slaughterhouse. "It picks the scab off the governmental, corporate paranoia - the under the table workings that happen," Gibson said.

"I think we've lost our naiveté, I don’t think we have any pretension that what most of our leaders are doing is leading us to the slaughterhouse."

Lindsay Lohan's 'lunatic' dad arrested again

Michael Lohan, father of Lindsay, has finally gone and done it this time.

He has been arrested for violating a restraining order against his girlfriend, Erin Muller.

Police on Long Island say Irish American Lohan has been arrested and booked for criminal contempt. This time it looks he will be heading back to jail.

He has a history of violence with Mueller . He was arrested for kicking Muller in her vagina in December, one of a dozen incidents of physical abuse in the past two years.

This guy is a real prince.

Jay Leno wants Conan O'Brien back as guest on 'Tonight Show'

Jay Leno wants Conan O'Brien back as a guest on "The Tonight Show."

But, Leno told Oprah Winfrey Thursday, he's not sure if O'Brien would accept the offer.

"I haven't talked to Conan through all of this," he said. "I wanted to pick up the phone, but it doesn't seem appropriate. Let things cool down, and maybe we'll talk."

Leno said NBC made a mess of the entire deal.

"Anything [NBC] did would have been better than this," he said. "If they'd come in and shot everybody, it would've been, 'oh the people were murdered,' but it would've been only a two-day story. This was a huge mess."

Leno told Oprah that both he and O'Brien were victims of falling ratings and bad finances.

He said NBC offered him an 11:35 p.m. slot and that his frist question was if Conan would agree.

He says the NBC execs said it would be fine.

But, Leno said, the next thing he knew was O'Brien's letter to the "people of Earth."

"It had nothing to do with me," he said.

"There's always someone waiting in the wings in this business to take your job. If you're not doing the numbers, they move on. Pretty simple," he told her.

"I didn't think that I was taking away Conan's dream," Leno said. "This was an affiliate decision. It's a matter of dollars and cents. They only asked me to come back after Conan turned down the deal."

And he says he know how Conan feels.

He says he was devastated when NBC told him they wanted Conan to take over on "Tonight" in 2009.

"I was in my office, and one of the executives came and said, 'Listen, Conan's getting offers from other networks, we don't want to lose him, we want to give him the show, and we're asking you to leave,' " Leno said. "It broke my heart. I was devastated. This is the job that I always wanted, and it was the only job that ever mattered in [show business] to me."

"I did feel bad for Conan, it wasn't fair. But TV is unfair. It was unfair to me. I didn't cause this, it was the ratings."

Who is sexier, Colin Farrell or Robert Pattinson?

Colin Farrell versus Rob Pattinson is a real close one . Five ways you can judge!

1. Older is sexier? Colin has that mature father look nowadays. Robert has that sexy hippy look.

2. A hell-raiser -- Colin is an interesting character who has lived a wild life but repented. Rob is just starting , I guess it depends where you are in your own life.

3. Better actor -- Colin wins that hands down. Has won an Emmy for "In Bruges" and Rob has not been in the awards race -- yet.

4. Thoughtful -- think Rob wins this -- he has a deep side to him. Colin still looks and talks like a party animal.

5. Decider -- Colin is taken -- now has a girlfriend and two kids. Rob is still available -- dream on!

'Twilight' stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart voted one of decade's best kisses

The passionate kiss shared between Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen and Kristen Steward, who plays Bella Swan, in Twilight, has been voted one of the best of the last decade.

The smooch, which happened towards the end of the first movie, Twilight (the second movie, New Moon, was released late last year) came fourth in a survey, conducted by department store Selfridges in England, for best on screen kisses of the past decade.

Fans of Robert and Kristen's on screen smooch described it as "a true passionate moment in movie history."

Topping the vampire's kiss was Britney Spears and Madonna's lesbian kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2003.

"Madonna performing with both Britney and Christina was a big enough event in itself, but nobody - even the MTV people - expected what happened,” said fans.

Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were second for their romantic embrace in Spider-Man, while Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal's kiss in Brokeback Mountain came fourth.

The top-five was completed by Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz for their kiss in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Lindsay Lohan wants her own talk show

Lindsay Lohan, who has tried her hand at almost everything at this stage, is now looking to start her own talk show.

Lindsay, a bit of a train wreck to say the least, has dabbled (we won't mention the hard stuff) in modeling, singing, fashion design and acting and now wants her own show where she can be center of attention -- surprise, surprise.

Lindsay, whose ultimate goal is to be a full time movie star, is going to look into hosting her own talk show to fill the gaps between movie making.

Ideas for a pilot are being thrown around at the minute.

Lindsay, who is reportedly dating hot French actor, Aurelien Wiik, supposedly believes that the show will be “a huge opportunity for her to have some success in her career.”

Lindsay's family have already been successful in the reality television business with their show "Living Lohan," of which Lindsay was never a part, much to her mother's delight.

Dina Lohan, Lindsay's mom, said, “I told Lindsay I don’t want her on the show right now.

“Doing reality TV would almost be taking a step backward as far as her career.”

Susan Boyle's brother worries about his sister being murdered just like Beatles legend John Lennon

John Boyle, 59, has expressed fears that his sister could be murdered at the hands of a crazy stalker.

Susan Boyle, runner up in last years 'Britain's Got Talent' confronted a crazed fan who broke into her home in Scotland a few days ago.

Boyle, 48, has just arrived back from recording a charity single for Haiti, when she was confronted by an intruder in her home.

John said he is extremely "upset" at the lack of security given to his sister and said he is very worried that she may suffer the same fate as John Lennon did in 1980. Lennon was shot dead outside his home in Manhattan by a crazy stalker, Mark Chapman, now 54. Chapman is in jail and trying to make parole.

“I am very upset about the lack of security. Her management company are too busy counting the money Susan has made them to consider her safety,” the Telegraph quoted him as telling The Sun.

“The family have told them several times that vast improvements need to be made to avoid something like this happening.

“This it the second time something has happened to Susan at her home and it is extremely worrying.

“Susan is a massive world star and needs better protection. You look at what happened to John Lennon in New York - it’s really worrying,” he added.

While the singer said she was “terrified” something bad would happen, she vowed that she wouldn’t let it make her change her life.

“I’m not going anywhere - nobody’s pushing me out of my house,” she said.

“I’m absolutely fine but it was very concerning for everyone. I think he got more of a scare than I did because he ran off. The matter is in hand. The police have been excellent,” she added.

This is the second stalking incident in a few weeks. Two strangers were caught peeking through Boyle's back window over Christmas.

Danica Patrick ad banned from Super Bowl

A Danica Patrick ad has been banned from the Super Bowl.

"Lola" sees Danica on screen narrating the tale of "Lola," a huge effeminate black guy selling frilly women's things.

"Lola" is supposed to be about a retired football player who launches a mega-successful business online using GoDaddy.com.

CEO and Go Daddy founder Bob Parsons is full of indignation "This is about a guy who starts an online business and hits the jackpot. I just don't think "Lola" is offensive, in fact we didn't see this one coming -- we were absolutely blindsided!"

It's hard to see what the censor chiefs took exception to.

As Parsons says. "Lola is not a 'big-breasted woman' -- Lola is a big, flamboyant, effeminate, lovable man.

"I never watch Daniel Craig as James Bond," says Pierce Brosnan

The former hunkier Irish "007" has said that although he has made several attempts to watch the new Bond movies starting Daniel Craig he still hasn't managed to do so.

Brosnan, who was born in Ireland Navan, Co. Meath, said he is now superstitious about watching Craig in role he once occupied in the Bond movies, 'Goldeneye', 'Tomorrow Never Dies', 'The World is Not Enough', and 'Die Another Day'.

The former "007" star said every time he tries to watch "Quantum of Solace" something goes wrong.

Brosnan says, "I got the Academy screener (preview DVD) for 'Quantum of Solace', turned it on for my boys and left them to it. I didn't go near it. I tried watching it on an aeroplane, but the DVD broke down. The attendant came and changed it and it broke down a second time so I figured, 'OK, the Gods must be saying something'."

"So I never went near it. I just thought, 'Let sleeping dogs lie."

Brosnan also admits was very surprised in 2004 when producers informed him that he would no longer be playing the role of the infamous James Bond but he said he got over it.

Is Celtic Woman going the same way as the Celtic Tiger?

What's going on with the Irish supergroup Celtic Woman?

The girls were doing a signing at Borders in the Time Warner Center in New York on Wednesday and my spies tell me they were giving away coupons for 50 percent off their gigs this weekend at Radio City Music Hall.

That's a huge discount and indicates that ticket sales may be off.

The girls are playing at Radio City Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27, 2010 as part of a 75-city American tour billed as a celebration of Ireland.

However, if they're handing out 50 percent off coupons for Radio City, they cold be in trouble.

Maybe their concert tour is going the same way as Ireland. Broke!

Elaine Paige launches Susan Boyle attack, calling her 'a virus'

Susan Boyle's idol Elaine Paige has launched an astonishing attack on the Scottish songstress calling her ' a virus who has spread across the world in a nanosecond.'

"I don't particularly feel any pride for her - I'm sure she is proud of what she has done," Paige stated.

“It's all about turning someone into an immediate celebrity at the expense of longevity and working hard and experience.

“Susan Boyle is doing terribly well considering she literally came to the attention of the world overnight with the advent of YouTube.”

She said to the Daily Mail: “She was like a virus really that spread across the world in a nanosecond.

“She is a girl with no experience of anything to do with theatrics, the music business, or art in any way.

“She has done terribly well to be a major star overnight with YouTube.”

Boyle performed with Paige at Christmas and was deeply moved by the experience.

Boyle said: “I never thought I would see myself standing on the same stage with such an icon from West End theatre, let alone singing with her as an equal.”

Susan Boyle safe after walking in on burglar at her Scottish home

Susan Boyle got a shock she certainly was not expecting when she returned to her Scottish home in Blackburn on Tuesday night – the sight of a robber running out of her house.

Thankfully the global singing phenomenon was not in any way injured, but she was left in some shock after the incident.

It is believed that she was just getting home after recording her part in the Haiti aid song (read about that here) when the incident happened.

A Lothian and Borders Police officer said the following about the incident:

"The owner was very distressed to find someone had been within her home and we are keen to speak to anyone who can assist with our investigations.

"Anyone who was in or around Yule Terrace at the time of the incident and saw or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police immediately."

She may have been shaken, but it takes a lot to stir Susan, and on Wednesday she was seen smiling and swapping hellos with fans near her home

"I'm fine. It's in the hands of the police now," said Boyle.

A 16-year-old teen was detained but later released without charge.

Can someone get this woman some proper security? Surely the budget is there . . .

Susan Boyle ‘honored’ to be singing on Haiti aid Song

Susan Boyle has opened up on how proud she is to be helping the people of Haiti during their time of need by taking part in the song to raise money for relief efforts.

The 48-year-old laid down her vocals on the version of REM’s “Everybody Hurts” that is being made to help raise money for the earthquake-hit nation.

“It is just awful what is happening in Haiti. I’ve seen some of it on the TV and it’s so sad,” said Boyle.

“To be asked to do this with all these talented singers is just great, it’s such an honor. It would be lovely to meet Rod Stewart, being a fellow Scot.”

I say good on you Susan or putting you star name to this stellar effort!

Pierce Brosnan says he's lost his sex symbol status to Robert Pattinson

Pierce Brosnan says he has lost all sense of himself as a sexy ladies man after filming with Robert Pattinson.

The Irish-born former James Bond star realized he was yesterday's pin-up when female fans ignored him during the filming of "Remember Me" in New York starring Rob Pattinson.

"I have no remaining ego whatsoever after shooting 'Remember Me' with Robert last year," says Brosnan. "His trailer was down one end of the avenue, surrounded by girls, and mine was a very quiet little haven of solitude at the other end.

"Even when we were shooting in the heart of New York, I could actually hear when Rob left his trailer; the girls would be going so bonkers!"

Never mind, Pierce, we still think you are one of the sexiest men around.

Brosnan also stated that he has never seen Daniel Craig as 007, the role he gave up.

"I haven't seen Daniel in the role. I tried watching it on an airplane," he says. "I thought 37,000 feet was a good distance to watch it from, and it broke down right at the beginning. The attendant came and changed it and it broke down a second time, so I figured OK. The gods must be saying something."

"So I never went near it! I just thought, 'let sleeping dogs lie.' I got the Academy screener for the last one and I turned it on for my boys and I left them to it. I didn't go near it."

Mischa Barton lets it all hang out on 'Law & Order' set in New York

New Yorkers have been seeing rather more of Mischa Barton than they bargained for in recent days.

Mischa, who's in town to shoot scenes of "Law & Order: SVU," is wearing very little in her role as a hooker.

Bitchy sources are saying that Mischa (above, on set) kept forgetting her lines while filming with Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay.

But c'mon guys, the girl only had seven lines, how could she forget them?

The same sources say it's because Mischa's been rocking out all over the Big Apple.

"She's a regular at Antik," one source said. "She usually comes late every Thursday and leaves late. A lot of times she'll even go to another club after she leaves."

A rep for Barton pooh-poohed the partying reports saying that everything was going "swimmingly."

But the tittle-tattles point to Mischa's well-publicized battles with substance and alcohol abuse.

She was admitted to hospital in July after a so-called "drug- and alcohol-fueled meltdown," after spending time earlier in rehab for a DUI in Dec. 2007.

Susan Boyle's cousin blows away 'Britain's Got Talent' with 'Fields of Gold'

Susan Boyle's cousin has wowed the judges of "Britain’s Got Talent" with a "gobsmacking" version of Sting's "Fields of Gold."

"Britain's Got Talent" judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden were said to be “gobsmacked” when Susan’s cousin turned up to the auditions for the new series.

The talented youngster told the judges that she was related to Susan (seen above) before she blew them away with her performance of "Fields of Gold,"

Piers said: “She is a young girl with a big voice.”

Amanda added: “We have a moment in the auditions that’s very interesting.”

And Amy says she always thought that Sting's song was called "Fields of BALI!"

Watch out Susan Boyle! Simon Cowell looking to sign Robert Pattinson from 'Twilight'

Watch out Susan Boyle! British hitmaker Simon Cowell looks set to to sing "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson.

Cowell has already approached Pattinson to sign up after hearing him sing.

However, close friends say Pattinson is reluctant to get involved with Cowell.

“Robert is reluctant to be turned into a pop star – and takes his music very seriously. He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell, who is, of course, associated with X Factor and pop.”

Pattinson has already written and performed for private affairs.

"I write songs, that’s true," he says.

"I’ll record a few tracks as soon as I finish the promotion for the movies, but before I won’t to do anything. I don’t want to release an album which has a sticker on it saying, ‘By the vampire of Twilight,’ on it.

"If the record is released one day there won’t be my name or my picture on the cover. Everyone would be biased. No one would listen to it. Before I was famous I would have loved to perform in bars and pubs. But this isn’t possible anymore.”

NASCAR's Danica Patrick channels Marilyn Monroe in unrated Super Bowl ads!

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick is channeling Marilyn Monroe in a new series of ads for GoDaddy.com the Super Bowl. Actually, make that two sets of ads. One set is for the CBS censor and the other is unrated for the www.godaddy.com web site.

Danica looks stunning as a raven-haired Marilyn from "The Seven Year Itch," and she also does a wet and wild Jennifer Beals from "Flashdance."

The censor-ready ads were aired briefly on “Inside Edition," but chances are more people will want to watch the unrated ones!

Danica drew a huge crowd to Glendale in December last year for the filming of the "Seven Year Itch" spot.

Of course, in the original scene, Marilyn Monroe’s dress blows up as she stands over a subway grate.

Gerard Butler beats Susan Boyle for Scot of the Year

It’s unbelievable, but ScotsCare, the charity that ran its own Scot of the Year online poll, has released its final vote, and Gerard Butler has beaten superstar-singing phenomenon Susan Boyle for the 2009 title.

In their poll, Butler scooped 66 per cent of the vote, with our Susan trailing in a distant second with 26 per cent.

I know what you are thinking; those who plumped for Butler cannot see what is staring them in the eyes.

Or more likely, there were blinded by the dashing boy next-door looks of the rom/com action hero actor.

But was there a bigger star on the planet last year the Susan Boyle? Could you honestly argue that Butler captured the imagination of the world like Susan has since that famous appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent.”

IrishCentral readers certainly saw the wood from the trees on this one. In our poll for Scot of the Year, Susan slammed Gerard in the face off, taking 65 percent of the tally and wining in a canter.

No disrespect, Gerard, you are carving up a healthy Hollywood career and if recent reports from the Golden Globes are to be believed, you have the beautiful Jennifer Anniston smitten by your charms, but you can’t tie Susan’s shoelaces when it comes to your respective performances during 2009.

Heartbroken Liam Neeson drops out of movie about Scottish Saint Columba

Grieving Irish star Liam Neeson has dropped out of a planned movie project with Jeremy Irons.

Neeson was supposed to play King Aidan in a movie about Saint Columba, the saint who brought Christianity to Scotland.

However, Neeson has decided to take a break citing his grief over the death of his beloved wife Natasha, seen above with Liam.

Natasha tumbled and fell on a beginner's slope in Canada in March last year while on a brief skiing trip.

She seemed fine at first but lapsed into a coma and was eventually flown to Lenox Hill Hospital where she died a few days later.

Being a real trouper Neeson has tried to keep up with his commitments but he clearly needs to be able to take time out.

Scottish director Norman Stone seems to understand Liam's loss.

"It has been a difficult time for Liam. I think he would have been great in the film. We wanted him to play the part of King Aidan, who has fiery clashes with Columba (played by Irons). It would've been great to see him alongside Jeremy.

"The script was with him for several months and I understand he loved it. He has decided not to go ahead, which is a pity, but the decision was made after what has been a difficult time for him and I respect the circumstances. He is a truly great actor."

Pierce Brosnan says Robert Pattinson lives in a 'ferocious limelight'

Irish star Pierce Brosnan says that hunky Robert Pattinson has been thrown into a "ferocious limelight" by his success with "Twilight."

And even the suave Brosnan says he has to admit that Pattinson is rather "dashing." (So reserved in their praise, these Irish guys!)

Brosnan says that shooting “Remember Me” in New York in the summer of 2009 was a tough task given Pattinson's popularity.

Brosnan says that they were constantly surrounded by "a couple hundred screaming teenage girls every day."

"For any young actor to be thrown into the ferocious limelight as Robert has been – must take its toll. He worked very hard and I wish him every success."

In fact, the big-hearted Irish actor said that Robert "acquainted himself grandly."

“Remember Me” which stars Brosnan as Pattinson's father will be in theaters March 12.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart set to go public with secret 'Twilight' romance

Secretive "Twilight" co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are poised to go public with their not-very-secretive romance.

Sources say the couple will fess up when filming starts on "Breaking Dawn," the third in the trilogy of vampire movies.

The "Twilight" stars have driven media and fans wild for months with their on-screen, off-screen romance but they gave themselves away with unscripted appearances like this shot of them cuddling as they left a plane in November.

A source on the "Twilight" set said the stars and crew were thrilled for them.

"Rob and Kristen are very happy, and everyone that's part of the franchise is so happy for them," she said.

"They don't feel the need to hide it anymore."

The pair managed to hide on the tiny Isle of Wight for the New Year holidays only to get nabbed by a fan.

"Rob is a reluctant star," the source said. "He just wants a quiet English life."

He's not likely to get that this year with filming on the new movie likely to get split into two.

Exit for Conan O'Brien as NBC offers $44m 'put up and shut up' deal

Conan O'Brien is set to get a staggering $32m golden parachute from NBC as "The Tonight Show" debacle finally rumbles to a close. HIs staff will get $12m in a deal which will cost NBC an overall $44m.

Mind you, in a week which has seen the catastrophe in Haiti overtake every other news story there's something unseemly about over-paid grown-ups squabbling over the kind of money that would keep a small country going.

Just saying like.

Anyway, the deal forces the Irish-American comic to put up and shut up or what's politely called a "nondisparagement clause."

Neither NBC or O'Brien can say a bad word about each other. And O'Brien has to wait a set amount of time before he can get back on the air, although presumably not on NBC!

However, given the fact that the staff of the show, along with O'Brien, moved across the country I'd expect plenty of coded references on the final show tomorrow night.

Jay Leno will take back his old show at 11:35 after the Winter Olympics.

Colin Farrell dated fake woman in web sex sting

Colin Farrell dated a fake woman on the web according to an explosive new report from Who's Dated Who.

The site says Farrell dated fake woman "Bree Condon" sometime over the past two years. And we can only presume this was before his relationship with his co-star Alicja Bachleda (above) took off.

"Bree" passed herself off as a 23-year-old Guess and Maxim model from Newport Beach, Calif. However, there was just one teeny little problem. This "Bree" is actually a man; Justin Brown in fact while the real-life Bree was furious that someone was impersonating her.

The scam was revealed when Real Bree (who is a model for Maxim and Guess) hired a private investigator to find out who Fake Bree was.

The PI found Fake Bree/Brown holed up in a motel room in Austin, Texas with gifts and pets from would-be suitors.

Turns out that Fake Bree/Brown had created an entire persona on the web and sought dates through the website www.seeking millionaires.com.

Apparently, none of the wealthy love-lorn ever got to meet Fake Bree. (For obvious reasons!)

But the site says they engaged in "intimate phone conversations" and swapped nude photos.

No word on whether Colin engaged in "intimate phone conversations" or swapped nude pictures with Fake Bree/Brown.

U2 hook up with NASCAR for Daytona 500 ad

Those boys in U2 just don’t stop do they!

Combing the planet with a record breaking World tour, writing Golden Globe-nominated songs for Jim Sheridan’s movie “Brothers,” putting together “Spiderman,” the most expensive musical ever that is set to hit Broadway in the fall and now collaborating with NASCAR to put together a pretty impressive ad for the Daytona 500.

Take a look at the ad here.

Atmospheric, nostalgic, well shot, solemn voiceover with The Edge’s legendary guitar riffs from "Bad" as Bono screams out that epic chorus.

If that doesn’t get your engines running nothing will!

Steven Soderbergh to start shooting “Knockout” in Dublin with Michael Fassbender next month

Steven Soderbergh is set to spend three weeks shooting his latest movie, the espionage thriller "Knockout," in Dublin and Wicklow this February.

The movie follows top covert op Mallory Kane (Gina Carano), who takes care of off-the-books dirty jobs that governments want carried out.

The latest mission takes her to Dublin, where things seriously start to go awry.

"Knockout" co- stars Irish actor Michal Fassbender of “Hunger and "Inglourious Basterds” fame, with Ewan McGregor also to feature in the star cast.

Prince William reveals he's huge fan of Susan Boyle

Less than a day after the Brits bashed Susan, Prince William has revealed that he's a big fan, calling her inspirational.

William says he has music from Susan's record-breaking album on his iPod for his trip to New Zealand.

He told reporters that he thinks she is a remarkable woman and the story of her success is inspirational.

Brit Awards blasted for snubbing Susan Boyle

The Brit Awards have been blasted for snubbing Susan Boyle from the shortlist announced Monday.

"I think it's a crime," said the Brit Awards chairman Ged Doherty, who is also head of Boyle's record company, Sony.

"I can't explain it. Every year there is something the academy gets wrong and this year they got that wrong."

"The academy" is made up of a panel of more than 1,000 people from the music industry and media.

They're looking for just two things: commercial success and artistic talent.

It's unbelievable that the "academy" could leave Susan out. Just look at the commercial success she's enjoyed.

  • Fastest-selling debut album in UK history
  • Best-selling UK album of 2009
  • First UK artist (since the Fine Young Cannibals in 1989) to grab the Number 1 spot for six weeks in the U.S.

Susan has clearly been dismissed as "just" a TV talent show contestant

Danica Patrick: First, she'll take Manhattan

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick was in New York recently shooting for her scenes in an upcoming "CSI" epsiode.

Our picture - which was posted by CBS on Twitpic - shows Danica with the show’s leading man, Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor).

As we already reported, New York which will be the backdrop for a fiery explosion during a car race through the Big Apple.

Her co-star for the gig will be the love-lorn Antonio Sabato Jr who spectacularly failed to find love on the VH1 dating show My Antonio.

The twosome will play Formula race car drivers Davi Santos and Liza Gray and the CSI episode will air Feb. 18 on CBS.

Aussie judge blasts Pattinson as 'pale, pasty and pathetic'

Robert Pattinson is "pale, pasty and pathetic."

So says Judge Jason Gardiner from the British TV show "Dancing on Ice."

The 38-year-old Aussie says there's no way he would want "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, 23, as his dancing partner.

He says he'd prefer Pattinson's American co-star Taylor Lautner.

Gardiner said Lautner, 17, who plays werewolf Jacob Black would be his first choice.

"Taylor Lautner would be my ideal dance partner because he looks amazing," he said.

"I don't get the whole Robert Pattinson thing; he's pale, pasty and pathetic."

"I want a man with a good complexion and a powerful body and he doesn't have either."

Ah well then, maybe it's because Gardiner's an Aussie...He's probably not used to the pasty look of the Brits!

Quirky night for the Irish at the Golden Globes

It was a quirky night for the Irish at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, with the Celts present providing plenty of laughter over the course of the ceremony.

Or rather, being the butt of a few of Ricky Gervais jokes.

“The Office” creator and host for the night laid into anyone and everyone, from the plastic surgery brigade to NBC and Jay Leno.

However, perhaps his funniest dig was aimed at our own Colin Farrell.

It has been reported that Gervais specifically asked to introduce the Irish star, and Farrell, upon hearing this, was supposed to have said “Oh, Balls!”

He had good reason to. Here is how Gervais introduced Farrell:

“One stereotype I hate is that all Irishmen are just drunk, swearing hell raisers,” quipped Gervais, before adding, “Please welcome Colin Farrell.”

Farrell took it in good spirits, smiling wryly and saying, “Oh, I once was a cliché,” before presenting an award.

Gervais also took a dig at Mel Gibson with this intro:

“I like a drink as much as any man, unless that man is Mel Gibson!”

Again, Gibson took it well, pretending to slur his words as he introduced the Best Director Golden Globe.

But Ricky isn’t daft, and he did not play with fire when introducing Mickey Rourke:

'I haven't got a bad word to say about him . . . mainly because he has arms as big as my legs,' said the comedian.

Awards wise, Robert Downey Jr. won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for his role in "Sherlock Holmes."

Downey delivered a humorous speech, saying he had to thank no one and then not thanking a host of people, including his wife Susan, Joel Silver and Guy Ritchie.

Brendan Gleeson lost out to Kevin Bacon for Best Performance for Television Drama and Daniel Day Lewis lost out to the aforementioned Downey Jr.

U2 lost out to T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham for Best Original Song, while George Clooney was pipped to the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture by Jeff Bridges' star turn in “Crazy Heart.”

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart hope to help out Haiti telethon

"Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are tipped to join George Clooney's mega fundraiser for Haiti.

Good-hearted Gorgeous George has organized a celebrity telethon in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

A source says he wants the "Twilight" stars on board because he knows they will mobilize younger fans into action.

“They’d jump at the chance to do something to help,” the source said.

Clooney's telethon is the latest response from the Hollyoood elite to the catastrophe in Haiti.

The upcoming Golden Globe Awards will see parties turned into fundraisers and Doctors Without Borders says Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $1 million to their organization.

Hip hop star Wyclef Jean, who is himself from Haiti, has gone back there to try and help rescue efforts while also urging fans to donate to his charity, Yele Haiti.

Alyssa Milano and Olivia Wilde have also joined celebs tweeting for donations.

Brit tabloids report 'Susan Boyles over in mop scene at airport'

The British tabloids are falling over themselves this morning to report that "Susan Boyles over at airport."

According to the Sun Susan "sparked complaints from travellers on Tuesday after she reportedly began singing into a mop in a bizarre scene at London's Heathrow Airport."

Really? Singing into a mop? What's wrong with that?

Susan was waiting in the first class lounge for her British Airways flight to Chicago (where she's set to appear on the Oprah show) when she began dancing and "belting out songs into a mop head."

An eyewitness told the Sun there was "chaos" in the lounge.

"Susan was very restless and agitated from the minute she walked in and immediately started making a scene. She was singing and dancing around, shouting obscenities at full volume."

The Sun says that BA staff "tried to calm her down only for SuBo to flee the Terminal 5 lounge, yelling: 'I've escaped, I've escaped!'"

Given the types who normally travel in first class they probably expected her to mop the floor instead of singing.

I'm not sure if this constitutes a so-called breakdown. What do you think?

Robert Pattinson lined up for Spider-Man role

And finally, 'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson, 23, is being lined up to play Spider-Man.

Rumor has it that Tobey Maguire, along with director Sam Rami, have quit the superhero franchise.

Now, producers say they want to target the movie series at a younger audience by going back in time to Spidey's high school days.

Uh-huh, we know where this is going.

A low-budget movie franchise aimed at the teen brigade starring Robert Pattinson, best known for his role as Edward Cullen in a low-budget movie series aimed at the teen brigade.

Did I leave something out?!

Conan O'Brien out of Tonight Show and Jay Leno in

Twitter is abuzz with the news that NBC is now dumping Irish American funnyman Conan O'Brien and reinstating Jay Leno in "The Tonight Show."

TMZ says that Leno has made a new deal with NBC, which gives him "The Tonight Show" from 11:35 pm - 12:35 pm.

How can a media giant - which is supposed to be in the communications business - screw up this badly on public relations?

They've managed to alienate people who didn't even like Conan - and if they thought ratings were bad before they can only get worse now.

There's no winner here.

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick heads to New York for CSI guest spot

Oh to be NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. The woman's got a stunning body and a great career (yes feminists, I know I put the body first so go fight with someone else) and now she's been cast for a guest part in CSI.

My spies tell me she will be filming soon in New York which will be the backdrop for a fiery explosion during (what else!) a car race through the Big Apple.

Her co-star for the gig will be the love-lorn Antonio Sabato Jr who spectacularly failed to find love on the VH1 dating show My Antonio.

The twosome will play Formula race car drivers Davi Santos and Liza Gray and the CSI episode will air Feb. 18 on CBS.

Gentlemen, start your engines! (And while you're waiting, here's the swimsuit video)

Conan O'Brien gets his Irish up as Jay Leno comes under fire

Typical! Irish stand-up host Conan O'Brien finally gets into high gear just as he's about to be pushed off the air.

"Hosting ‘The Tonight Show' has been the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for me – and I just want to say to the kids out there watching: You can do anything you want in life. Unless Jay Leno wants to do it too," O'Brien said Wednesday night.

Conan has refused to cave to NBC demands that he move "Tonight" to 12:05 a.m. to give Jay Leno a spot at 11:35 p.m.

Conan says he won't be part of the destruction of a franchise.

Late-night CBS rival David Letterman got in on the act as well last night.

Dave poked fun at Leno and said building a closet on his set for Leno.

Apparently Leno had actually hidden in a closet to eavesdrop on executive talks back in the 90s when Leno and Letterman were vyting for the Tonight Show spot.

Dave also referred to the weather and said, "You know, they say, from the weather bureau, they say it's caused by an arctic chill between Jay and Conan."

Leno obviously wasn't very happy.

“Conan O’Brien, understandable, is very upset," he said. "He had a statement in the paper yesterday. Conan said NBC has only given him seven months to make his show work. When I heard that -- seven months! How did he get that deal? We only got four.”

Pierce Brosnan looks mighty fine in trailer for 'The Ghost Writer'

The trailer for Pierce Brosnan's new movie, "The Ghost Writer," has arrived online and it looks terrific. (And that's apart from the surprising preview of "Sex and the City's" Kim Cattrall with a sexy Brit accent!)

The biggest surprise is that Pierce (above with Ewan McGregor) actually looks like he's got a role with some muscle in it for a change.

I've never been a big fan of Pierce but he looks good in the role of former British Prime Minister Adam Lang.

Ewan McGregor plays the unfortunate ghost writer who is hired to write Lang's memoirs after the previous ghost writer dies in an accident.

However, as McGregor delves into Lang's memoirs he becomes aware of secrets involving terrorism, torture and the CIA which just might be the reason the former ghost writer was knocked off.

"The Ghost Writer" of course has picked up more press over the arrest of director Roman Polanski, a case which is still making its way through the courts.

Rumor has it that Irish director Niall Jordan was recently waylaid by a furious Sinead O'Connor after Jordan signed a petition in support of Polanski.

Well, you can say what you like about Sinead but she's dead right on that one.

Polanksi should have been dragged in front of the courts years ago.

'House' star Olivia Wilde in Twitter appeal for Haiti earthquake

Big-hearted Irish actress Olivia Wilde is offering personalized thank you videos to donors who pitch in to help the victims of the monster earthquake in Haiti.

The "House" star has appealed for donations through her Twitter page.

Olivia, who visited Haiti just three weeks ago, says she will send a personalized "thank you" video to everyone who donates in excess of $200.

"its worse every minute guys, so we are raising the stakes. Now, those who give $200 or more will get a personal thank you video," she tweeted early Wednesday.

"just to clarify, if you donated $100 before 1am PST you will get a video message. after 1am? $200. this is how we will help make an impact!

Wilde said she realized how lucky she was after visiting Haiti just before Christmas and helping establish funding for a school there.

"Haiti is an incredible place full of wonderful people who are struggling to survive. it blew my mind. i will post pics. we are lucky kids."

The actress set up a special email account at owhelphaitinow@gmail.com so fans could let her know they had donated.

Beauty and the Beast as Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke film 'Passion Play'

It's Beauty and the Beast as these pictures show of Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox.

Mickey, 57, and Megan, 23, are filming "Passion Play" in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The mis-matched pair play star-crossed lovers in a movie which Megan says "is not a typical love story."

We'll say.

"Passion Play," features Megan as a caged circus freak with wings growing out of her back and Mickey plays her savior.

Mickey's hardly being cast against type. He plays a down-on-his-luck trumpet player.

All in all, it looks like Mickey is back on Hollywood's A-List again after spending years in a sort of Tinsel Town exile.

Mickey, whose star turn in "The Wrestler," garnered him an Oscar nomination last year will also be one of the presenters at Sunday's Golden Globes.

And the infamous rabble rouser even says he's settling down a bit with his Russian bombshell Elena Kuletskaya.

Even George Clooney feels the heat from Robert Pattinson's star appeal!

Down girls! Looks like there's just the teensiest bit of rivalry heating up between silver-haired smoothie George Clooney and "Twilight" phenom Robert Pattinson.

Clooney - who's half Irish - says he's glad he's not competing with Robert Pattinson for movie roles.

Clooney, 48, reckons Pattinson, 23, is one of the best looking men in Hollywood.

“Thank God I don’t have to compete with Rob,” Clooney said. “He’s young and handsome and talented.”

Pattinson - who Clooney calls "Mr Handsome" recently autographed a copy of GQ and sent it down to Clooney "To George, Best of Luck. Hang in there. Love Rob."

What did Clooney do?

He sent back a copy of Esquire magazine, with the following message inscribed to Pattinson.

"Dear Rob, Thanks for all the inspiration. I'm a huge fan. Love, George, two-time Sexiest Man Alive.”

Stuart Townsend quits Kenneth Branagh's 'Thor' citing creative differences

Stuart Townsend - seen here with long-time love Charlize Theron, says creative differences have driven him off the cast of the superhero movie "Thor."

Townsend, 37, who was down to play Fandral, quit the movie just days before the cast was set to start shooting.

It's now known who was the cause of Townsend's "creative differences" but fellow Irish man Kenneth Branagh is down as the director.

Townsend's role will now go to little-known actor Joshua Dallas.

The movie - which is slated for a May 2011 release, will also star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman, Renee Russo and Anthony Hopkins.

Let's hope Townsend doesn't rue walking off Thor.

He was famously dropped from "Lord of the Rings" by director Peter Jackson who thought he was too young for the role of Aragorn and cast Viggo Mortensen (45) instead.

And we all know how that particular movie fared...

Sandra Bullock smashes through $200m glass ceiling at U.S. box office with 'Blind Side'

Sandra Bullock has smashed through the $200 million glass ceiling with her role in the football mega hit "The Blind Side."

Industry bible Variety says "The Blind Side" is the first movie EVER "driven solely by a top female star" to break $200 million at the American box office.

To put this in perspective neither Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie or Reese Witherspoon were ever able to crack the $200m million mark at the domestic box office.

Julia Roberts' "Erin Brockovich" made $125.6 million at home while Meryl Streep's "The Devil Wears Prada," earned $124.7 million.

A man (of course!) in charge of propheting profits at Warner Bros said the movie could pull in even more.

President of Domestic Distribution Dan Fellman said: "And we're not even done. I think 'Blind Side' has another $30 million left,"

All in all, Bullock's films have grossed an amazing $1.72 billion domestically.

Will Adam Lambert and Susan Boyle do a duet on Oprah?

Fans of Susan Boyle and "American Idol" star Adam Lambert are in for a big treat if the latest rumours are true!

Word on the street is that Adam and Susan will do a duet on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" being taped on Jan. 16.

Susan of course has already been on Oprah via satellite link but this would be a first for the teen idol Adam.

He's done some big-name sit-downs since releasing his debut album but Oprah's the biggest name of the them all.

"The Oprah Winfrey Show" will not comment on upcoming bookings but Adam Tweeted confirmation that he was appearing on his Twitter page. "Oprah: def true."

Lady Gaga teams up with Bono to help fight AIDS

Lady Gaga - shown here with her own "hair-hat" - has joined forces with U2's Bono to help raise money for Bono's AIDS charity (RED).

Lady Gaga, who penned a special version of "Poker Face" for Bono, has designed a special pair of Lady Gaga headphones for (RED) to sell off.

All proceeds will go to (RED).

Performing at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Thursday where she debuted this interesting hairstyle, she said Bono was a game-changer in the way charities operate.

"I was working with Bono on (RED) for his friend's birthday party (Gavin Friday's mega bash at Carnegie Hall) and I changed the words for acoustic Poker Face to be about the organisation.

"He's really changed the model for how charities function with large corporations.

"What's really exciting about this is that all the money that (RED) will make off these headphones will go directly to helping people that are affected by the AIDS epidemic in Africa."

And what's really exciting for us Lady watchers is what on earth will she do next?

She must have had to sit for hours to get her hair sprayed into this wacky looking hat.

Conan O'Brien loses out to Jay Leno in NBC shake-up

Looks like Irish American funnyman Conan O'Brien has lost his battle with Jay Leno on NBC.

TMZ is reporting that Jay will return to his 11.30 p.m. slot after the network finishes up broadcasting the Winter Olympics (seriously, who watches that?!).

NBC sources are tight-lipped on what that means for Conan.

It could be that Jay's show will just be 30 minutes in which case Conan will follow him or, worst case scenario, Jay's show will go to 60 minutes and it's curtains for Conan.

TMZ says Jay and Conan have both been made aware of the changes.

Hmm. Wonder who sought those changes out in the first place.

Taylor Lautner signs on for Irish director's new movie, 'Northern Lights'

"Twilight" star Taylor Lautner has signed on for Irish director John Moore's action movie, "Northern Lights."

Lautner, who last night picked "Breakout Male Actor" at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles, will play a pilot in "Northern Lights" which starts filming in April.

Lautner was the only lead "Twilight" star to actually show up at the People's Choice awards in the Nokia Theatre. Both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart skipped the event.

The 17-year-old "Twilight" star is reportedly being paid $7.45m for his "Northern Lights" role putting him on track for a more lucrative career than many stars double his age.

The movie is centered on "four young pilots as they compete against the world’s best" which would definitely play to Taylor's strengths like his awesome physicality.

And Irish director Payne is well used to putting young stars through their paces with his director's role in "Max Payne," "The Omen," and "Behind Enemy Lines."

The producers say the film is about "teamwork, sacrifice, loss, and victory," (nothing new to a young vampire!) and that the pilots "push themselves to physical and emotional limits in the unforgiving world of performance aerobatics."
