The 50-year-old actor is always in good spirits, according to his 'Oblivion' co-star Andrea Riseborough, who says the megastar loves joking around with everyone and making sure they are in a good mood.

She told People magazine: "He's a fantastic team leader. Every morning he has a smile on his face and a cup of coffee in his hand raring to go. He has a lightness of spirit and we were always giggling together. It was such a joy."

While he may be laughing and joking between takes, Tom's co-stars say he doesn't hold back when it comes to fight scenes.

Defence Lab's Andy Norman, who was the fight consultant on Tom's recent 'Jack Reacher' film, said: "Tom gets right in there, he'll take the knock and the bruises and he doesn't want us to hold back. He'll still be there at 2am going over fight scenes, he's a total perfectionist."

The 50-year-old 'Oblivion' star surprised his 'Jerry Maguire' co-star by showing up unannounced to watch his Broadway play, 'The Trip to Bountiful', in New York on April 16 and Cuba revealed they are still very close after bonding on the set of the hit movie in 1996.

The 45-year-old actor told UsMagazine.com: "I love him to death. He has been so supportive of my career.
"I followed his movies before I ever worked with him. I was a fan of 'Top Gun' and all of those. But he always surprises me with, not only his craft, but the fact that he shows up unannounced at my play. He was standing up. He got emotional during the end of the play.

"He's a real salt of the earth person that God has blessed and I tell him everyday, 'God loves you, man!' He really does.

"And you can see it through the blessings that he keeps showering down."

Tom's recent co-star Andrea Riseborough revealed he goes out of his way to bond with his colleagues on set and loves to make everyone feel at ease by telling jokes.

She said: "He's a fantastic team leader. Every morning he has a smile on his face and a cup of coffee in his hand raring to go. He has a lightness of spirit and we were always giggling together. It was such a joy."

The 50-year-old actor is famous for doing his own stunts and despite being a huge Hollywood star, he throws himself into every action sequence without complaint.

Defence Lab's Andy Norman, who was the fight consultant on 'Jack Reacher', exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Tom gets right in there, he'll take the knock and the bruises and he doesn't want us to hold back. He'll still be there at 2am going over fight scenes, he's a total perfectionist."

Andy also revealed Tom is involved in every stage of planning the fight scenes in his films because he wants to get the emotion behind the action right.

He explained: "A fight scene like the one in 'Jack Reacher' where he takes on five guys at once can take up to eight weeks to put together and Tom is involved from day one.

"Tom is so famous in the industry for his focus and he gets so into the character he wants to be there from when we first get together to talk about the fight. He wants to know the emotion, the reason behind it, the why, how much training he needs, the intensity and he makes the job easier because you're not having to carry him

"The process is quite collaborative because you've got the emotion from the script and we have to see how Tom wants to show that emotion and we work out how to put that together from the movie."

The 'All You Need is Kill' actor - who is now one of the most famous followers of the Church of Scientology - had his heart set on becoming a Catholic priest when he was a teenager but his ambitions were cut short when it was suggested he didn't return to St. Francis Seminary in Cincinnati after just two years.

Recalling how he sneaked into a room with the alcohol was stashed and threw it down to Tom, the actor's school friend Shane Dempler said: "I tossed about six, most broke, but we managed to get a couple and hide them in the nearby woods.

"The priests didn't even realize until some of the other boys found out about our plan and snuck into the woods and got drunk. They were caught staggering down the road to the seminary and forced to confess.

"The school wrote a letter to our parents saying they liked us both, but would prefer if we didn't return. So we weren't kicked out, just preferred not to go."

Shane - who studied alongside the 50-year-old star between 1976 and 1977 - says he and his pal were "really interested" in the priesthood, but feels they were too young to have made a serious decision about their careers.

He told the New York Daily News newspaper: "He had a very strong Catholic faith.

"We went to Mass, spent time in the chapel and enjoyed hearing stories from the priests. We thought the priests had a great lifestyle and we were really interested in priesthood.

"In truth. we were too young to make that decision."

And at the school, Tom showed early signs of his acting talent.

Shane said: "In sport and acting, he came out of his shell. They were competitions, you see, and if it were competitive, he'd be on it. Otherwise he'd just survey the scene.

"We had a great drama teacher in Father Aubert Grieser. He taught us how to speak in public. We used to get into trouble, as Aubert would tell us not to spit when we were speaking and we'd spit on purpose. It'd cost us 50 cents."

The 50-year-old actor was only 19 when he appeared in the drama as weapon-loving Cadet Captain David Shawn, and was "terrified" the stunts could go wrong and it would be the last movie he ever worked on.

Tom recalled to W magazine:  "In one scene, I was firing a machine gun out a window, and I looked down and there was a guy shooting back at me. This was my first experience with stunts - and an expert marksman was aiming at me!

"I didn't want to look like I was dumb, but between takes I pulled the guy aside and said, 'Have you done this before? You're not going to shoot me, are you?' I was terrified that my first big part would be my last."

The 'Jack Reacher' star has grown to love high-adrenaline stunts, and he admitted earlier this month he will "never tire" of performing his own stunt, and enjoys trying to keep besting the dare-devil scenes he has shot before.

He said: "When I'm doing stunt movies you always have some sort of injury. Even with the high-speed car crashes that we had - I never tire of it actually.

 "It's really fun and I keep thinking about what it's going to look like and that it's going to entertain an audience. So it's fun doing it and trying to figure out, can we do it? How far can we push it?

"When I start working on a piece of material I get very excited about the potential of doing something that hadn't been seen before, that I haven't done before."

Police were sent to Tom Cruise’s house following a report about an alleged armed intruder on the property.

The alarm was raised in a call which is now believed to have been a prank after members of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrived at the Beverly Hills estate to find nothing suspicious, according to gossip website TMZ.

Tom and his family were not at home and police were greeted by his bemused security officers and chef.

Recently a 12-year-old boy was arrested in relation to similar incidents which occurred at the homes of Ashton Kutcher and Justin Bieber.

Police were called to the 34-year-old 'Two And A Half Men' star and the 18-year-old Canadian popstar's houses, along with a number of other celebrity owned properties over the past few months, after they received anonymous calls claiming the properties were being robbed and in some cases victims had been taken hostage.

Insiders have revealed that the boy – who has been accused of making the prank calls - lives with his mother in what has been described as an "incredibly dysfunctional" home and refused to attend school recently because he prefers communicating with other hackers on his computer but arrangements are now being made to move him into a more stable foster home

The 50-year-old actor - who famously does the majority of his own stunts in his movies - has revealed the "worst injury" he sustained working on his latest film came when his foot was left swollen after shooting the gonad-busting scene over and over again.

Speaking to US TV talk show host Jimmy Fallon, he said:
"There's a scene where I'm kicking a guy in the balls, the testicles.
"It was a human being, [but] no testicles were injured in the making of the film! We had to do the take over and over again, and the first 10 times it was like, 'Yeah!'

"After about 50 times in, my foot was swelling ... I kept having to loosen my shoe."
Though he hurt his foot working on 'Jack Reacher', this isn't the worst injury the 'Mission: Impossible' actor has experienced on a film set.

Recalling the damage he has done to himself, he has previously said: "I've broken my leg. The first time [I broke my nose], I got hit by a fastball. Another time, I got hit with a baseball bat by accident.

"Then I re-jarred it on a motorcycle. No one thought about helmets or pads back then. When I was 18, on the set of 'Taps', I met the stunt guys. I was like, 'You train for stuff like this?' Back in the day there were no videos of this stuff."

The 50-year-old actor – who was left shocked when his 33-year-old wife Katie Holmes filed for divorce earlier this year - has been working in England for the past few months but can’t wait to spend time with his three children Bella, 20, Connor, 17, and Suri, six, over the holidays.

Speaking at the London premiere of ‘Jack Reacher’ on Monday, Tom said: "We have got lots of very special things planned [for the holidays]. We are all going to be together. I am looking forward to it."

While Tom has spent most of his time working, he revealed his love for the UK and admitted he has also taken time to enjoy his time there.

He added to People magazine: "I love it here. I have made so many films here and I have worked with so many of the actors here. It is a wonderful place to live.

"I am shooting a film over here … seven days a week. But I feel great. It doesn't take up all my time, but I have a very busy schedule and I like it that way."

Meanwhile, Katie, 33, who has the day off from her Broadway play ‘Dead Accounts’ is in her native Ohio spending the holiday with her family.

Explaining her holiday plans recently, she said: “We have Thursday off, so I’m going to have a chance to go home with my family.

“My sister makes a really good sausage stuffing and my mom makes a great turkey.

“Many years ago, my dad started this tradition where we all do this run in the local park.

“It's a three mile run called the Turkey Trot. There's even a prize, which I haven't won yet. But it's really fun.”

The actor – who is divorced from Suri’s mother Katie Holmes - hasn’t seen his six-year-old child in three months as he has been filming ‘All You Need Is Kill’ in Britain and since shooting has been extended until after the festive break, Tom is planning to fly her over from her home in New York so they can celebrate together.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “By the time Christmas comes, Tom won’t have seen Suri for a long time. So he’s agreed with Katie that it’s only right she stays with him. Filming has been extended until after Christmas, so he will appreciate the break.”

Tom reportedly hopes to rent a huge house in the Lake District or Scotland so they can enjoy a fun family Christmas and it is likely his two children Conor and Isabella, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman will join them.

The 50-year-old actor's long-term lawyer and good friend Bert Fields told the MailOnline: "Tom is a loving, caring father.  Suri is a vital part of his life and always will be.

"Of course he'll be seeing her soon. He's in England finishing one picture and preparing another."

Tom is apparently "absolutely" looking forward to seeing his youngest child very soon and is extremely proud she recently started attending school in New York, where she has been living with her mother Katie since she was awarded sole custody.

The 45-year-old actress - who adopted two children with the 'Mission Impossible' star before they parted ways in 2001 - blames getting married at the young age of 23 for spiraling into depression after her divorce, even though she has no regrets about their relationship.

Nicole said: "I got married really fast and really young. But I don't regret that because it got me Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period.

"Then when it didn't work out I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression. I have no regrets about all of it. It was all part of growing up."

The 'Top Gun' star was said to have been "blindsided" when his spouse announced she wanted to end their five-year-marriage in June, but papers obtained by National Enquirer magazine show their union had been in trouble for some time.

In the legal documents - dated August 17, 2012 and signed by New York State Supreme Court Judge Matthew F. Cooper - which detail specifics of the divorce decree, they state that the "marital relationship" had "broken down irretrievably for a period of at least six months immediately preceding".

The pair tied the knot in a lavish Scientology ceremony in Italy on November 18 2006, but the documents show they officially married "in a civil ceremony" in Los Angeles on November 11, 2006.

The documents reveal Tom was ordered to pay $400,000 a year in child support for the couple's six-year-old daughter Suri.

The staggering sum is to cover the youngster's "medical, dental, insurance, unreimbursed medical and dental, education, college, extracurricular and camp expenses".

The agreement ends when Suri turns 18.

In the unlikely event the actor misses a payment; he will be faced with a jail sentence "for a term not to exceed six months".

The 50-year-old actor has allegedly been granted exclusive visitation privileges to see his daughter Suri since his divorce from Katie Holmes thanks to his A-list status, despite Scientology normally banning members from contacting those who have left the church.

Nancy Many, ex-president of the religion's Celebrity Centre, told RadarOnline: "They have already bent the rules for Tom. If Tom was any other Scientologist, including lesser celebrities, he would not be allowed to continue seeing and maintaining communication with Katie or Suri, because they are no longer in Scientology.
"So far, because of who he is, Cruise has spent time with Suri, which has already upset the parents and children of existing Scientologists who can't talk to their loved ones.

"If he is supposed to be a Scientologist, why don't the rules for every other member apply to him?"

The 'Mission Impossible' actor hasn't seen Suri, 6, since their fun-filled trip to Disney World on August 5, and even missed her first day of school due to filming new action flick 'All You Need Is Kill' in London.

The pair have been in touch by telephone daily and the actor plans to visit her as soon as possible, in spite of Scientology rules that Tom should cut all contact with his newly Catholic daughter.

Nancy added: "When every other person that I have known of leaves Scientology, which Katie did without speaking of it directly, they are instantly shunned. By rejoining a Catholic Church right afterwards, she made a very public statement of rejection."

The actor is said to be weighing up his commitment to the church with regards to his personal life and has been seen spending time with friends outside of the religion.

The six-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has reportedly been signed up to the Chinese language course at her new school Avenues in New York City and could even travel to one of the institute’s planned overseas branches when she gets older.

A source told RadarOnline: “Suri is going to be learning Mandarin. She is in the programme for the Lower School which focuses on Chinese, and this is a great foundation for her.”

Suri recently started attending the $40,000-a-year private school which has a rooftop playground, along with a main gym that includes full-size basketball and volleyball court.

It is part of a series of "world schools" and will also have branches in China, India, Africa and Europe, along with other US cities.

Katie and Suri made a fresh start New York following the actress’ split from Tom and the school is just a few blocks from their apartment in Chelsea.

Tom's attorney Bert Fields recently revealed the 'Rock of Ages' star was calling Suri twice a day as he wants to play a big part in her life even though he is busy shooting a movie in England while she is in New York with her mother.

He said: "Tom has been in England shooting a film. He calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day.

"He loves Suri and is a constant presence in her life.  As in the past, when he's shooting in a foreign country, he has to rely on daily phone calls."

A source told RadarOnline: "Katie wanted the trust fund put in place for Suri so that their daughter will be able to tap into after she turns 18 years old.

"Katie has absolutely no access to the money and didn't want to. She just wanted to ensure that Suri would have financial security as she becomes an adult. It's a sizable trust fund, but Suri won't be able to fully legally claim it until she is in her 30s.

"Tom had no problem with the request and planned on doing it for Suri anyway."

While Katie didn't receive a huge settlement from Tom due to the former couple's pre-nuptial agreement, the brunette beauty will still be able to keep the designer handbags and other lavish gifts that the 'Mission: Impossible' star treated her to during their five-year marriage.

A source said: "Tom was extremely generous to Katie with lavish gifts during their marriage and she will be keeping millions of dollars of jewelry, Hermes handbags and other luxurious items.

"Tom gave Katie diamond earrings as a birthday gift one year that easily cost over $500,000 and he had custom design pieces made for her. Under terms of the divorce, Katie is keeping all of the jewelry, handbags, accessories, and designer clothing. What she does with it is up to her.

"For the time being, the jewels are being kept in a very safe place and knowing Katie, it's likely she will one day give them to Suri once she is old enough."

The former 'Dawson's Creek' star shocked the 'Top Gun' actor earlier this summer when she filed to end their marriage in New York, and the quick finalization - which happened within weeks of the divorce announcement - means she will only get support for their six-year-old daughter Suri, of whom she has legal custody.

A source told TMZ.com Katie will receive $400,000 a year in child maintenance, equating to $33,333.33 a month.

He will be paying the support for the next 12 years until Suri is 18, totalling $4.8 million.

It has also been discovered both parties agreed that the tot would not attend a "residential" school - meaning she cannot be taken to an educational establishment with boarding.

Tom has also agreed to pay for all of Suri's expenses, including dental, medical, education and college costs.

Katie is believed to be a "new woman" since splitting from the 50-year-old actor, and is glad to be free of quasi-cult Scientology, to which Tom is devoted.

A source said: "She now gets to see her family more, feels free to concentrate on her career and is no longer living in fear of Scientology.

"Katie is a new woman, she feels refreshed, free of Tom and doesn't have a worry in the world."

The 56-year-old actress - who was married to 'Mission Impossible' star Tom from 1987 to 1990 - has expressed her sincere feelings of sympathy towards her ex-husband and his third wife Katie over their recent split.

Mimi told US Weekly: "I wish them both the best. There's not much else to say.
"I really do, though. I wish them the best."

Speaking at the New York premiere of bittersweet romantic comedy 'Hope Springs' last night (06.08.12), she reflected on what makes a marriage work and the importance of friendship.

Twelve years ago, Jamie did a one-man show about his relatives which became popular on video sharing website YouTube, however, the church did not like it.

He revealed: "Within two to three days Scientologists were at my door with fake cover stories claiming that they were performers doing a show with me. They had people following me, they were on me immediately."

The doting father and his six-year-old daughter enjoyed a trip in the Liberty chopper for a sightseeing tour of New York City on Wednesday.

Suri excitedly looked out of the window to see the panoramic views of the city and the pair seemed to enjoy having some quality father and daughter time.

A source said: "They didn't look stressed."

Tom flew to The Big Apple on Tuesday to see Suri for the first time since he and Katie Holmes, 33, split in June ending their five-year marriage.

The 50-year-old actor wrapped shooting on his latest film 'Oblivion' in California on Sunday (15.07.12) and he made sure he was in New York to see his child the first opportunity he got.

Katie and Tom agreed a divorce settlement on July 7, with the actress getting primary custody of Suri.
The 'Rock of Ages' star has extensive visitation rights but he agreed that Suri should live full-time with her mother in New York because it would be the best thing for her.
