Irish screen hunk Colin Farrell is being tipped to star alongside Jessica Brown Findlay in the forthcoming supernatural thriller Winter's Tale.

Farrell has reportedly been offered the male lead in director Akiva Goldsman's debut, playing the role of a thief who an very ill young woman becomes smitten with after he breaks into her New York mansion (because that always happens, after they stop screaming, right?).

Downton Abbey actress Brown Findlay, best known for playing the upper crust Lady Sybil Crawley (she of the one facial expression) in the smash hit ITV period drama has already signed on to portray the dying woman, the Irish Independent reports.

Australian firebrand Russell Crowe and Will Smith are also reported to have been cast in supporting roles in the period thriller, which is set in both the 19 century and contemporary times and is based on Mark Helprin's classic 1983 novel.

Shooting on Winter's Tale is slated to begin in New York on October 15 and who next stars in the Total Recall remake alongside Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsal, has not yet inked the deal which actors Tom Hiddleston, Aaron Johnson, Liam Hemsworth, Luke Evans, Benjamin Walker and Garrett Hedlund are also reportedly in the running for.

One Direction's Zayn Malik is back together with former X Factor alumni and Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, according to The Sun.

The couple purportedly started last year dating after Edwards dumped her then boyfriend for Malik. She also allegedly broke it off to focus on Little Mix, which one last year's X Factor, and to prepare for the release of their debut album, out later this year.

Earlier this week couple reportedly were seen at the movies together to see the blockbuster 'Avengers Assemble' and a source says their relationship is back on.

"They’ve always been very close and have kept in touch during 1D’s tour. Now Zayn is back they are going to be a proper item — even though it’s going to be a bit of a long distance relationship at times," said the source.

Susan Boyle, who rose to fame with her superb singing on the 2009 ‘X Factor,’ has had yet another creepy encounter with an obsessive fan. Boyle was reportedly chased up four flights of stairs by a fan demanding an autograph following a performance in Liverpool.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that Boyle returned to Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool, North England, after her performance with the cast of the ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ musical.

"Some fans waited for her in the lift but Susan decided to take the stairs," said a source to The Belfast Telegraph.

"Susan's room was on the fourth floor so it was a fair old walk. He realised she was taking the stairs so started following her.”

"She managed to get in the room safe but he then made a dash for her door saying he wanted her autograph. It was really scary for Susan - to follow someone up the stairs for four floors is creepy."

The man fled after Boyle’s security detail attempted to detain him. In the wake of the run-in, Boyle is now chauffeured to and from her performances in Liverpool.

This isn’t Boyle’s first encounter with an obsessed fan. In 2010, a man broke into her bedroom; Boyle believes it was the same man who tried to break in the previous year.

Even more recently, a former gardener for Boyle turned up at her home in Blackburn, West Lothian just two weeks ago demanding money. Boyle is understandably “on edge.”

This latest run-in with a fan has left the Scottish songstress  “terrified and shaken,” said a source.

"She absolutely loves performing but sometimes the reaction of fans is really intense."

Robert Redford says Hollywood wasn't "risky" enough for him

The 'Horse Whisperer' star admits the majority of his big blockbusters were "fun," but they "didn't totally satisfy" his acting needs, which is why he set up the annual Sundance Film Festival in the US to showcase new low-budget projects from independent filmmakers.

He told BANG Showbiz: "You could say I've been fortunate enough to work both sides of the aisle, starting early on in my career working in large Hollywood films. Most of which were fun and great.

"But it didn't totally satisfy what need I had, which was something more risky, more low budget, which is why I started Sundance, to include those people that may be shut out by the mainstream thinking. That would increase the respect for film. That's how it all began."

The 75-year-old actor believes there is a "hunger" for low-budget movies and he thought his home town was the ideal location to establish such an event because of its "independence and diversity."

Speaking at the Sundance London Film & Music Festival at London's The O2 last week, he added: "My country is known for it's diversity, and independence and diversity would come together. This diversity was not available in the mainstream. That's entertainment, but not at the expense of the more humanistic side of cinema. That's where we are. It's basically enlarging, it's not to deny those films because they're satisfying on a worldwide basis, I just feel that there's a hunger for these kind of films, and that's what we represent."

The 51-year-old singer was on the way back to her fourth-floor suite after performing in her musical ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ in Liverpool, when she spotted a group of fans by the lift and decided to take the stairs to avoid them – only to then be chased by a crazed male fan.

A source said: “Some fans waited for her in the lift but Susan spotted them and took the stairs. Her room was on the fourth floor so it was a fair walk.

"This man realized she was taking the stairs so he followed her. He made a dash for her door, saying he wanted her autograph, but she managed to get into the room safe and sound.

“It was really scary for her. To follow someone up the stairs for four floors is a bit creepy. She was terrified and shaken.”

The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star was still reeling from an incident earlier in the month when her former gardener allegedly went to her home and demanded money, forcing her to call police.

Talking to the Daily Mirror, the insider continued: “The attention she was getting from fans was a bit much, especially given what happened at her home recently.

“The last thing she needed was someone trying to get into her room.

“She loves performing but sometimes the reaction of fans is really intense.

“Her nerves were already frayed and she shouldn’t have to worry about people hounding her at her hotel.

A spokesman declined to comment about the hotel scare.

Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows' star Michelle Pfeiffer finds vampires sexy

The actress signed up to appear in Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows' - which is based on the 1960s gothic soap opera of the same name - because she wanted to appear as a bloodsucker and had been a fan of the original series when she was younger.

She said: "It was the first vampire I remember, and vampires have always been, and still are, kind of sexy. I don't know why. But as a young girl - I think I was about eight - I found it quite scary. 'Dark Shadows' when we were small was a little bit naughty, a little bit taboo, a little bit dark, a little bit sexy. It was rather racy for afternoon TV."

Michelle, 53, hadn't worked with Tim since she played Catwoman in 'Batman Returns' 20 years ago, but was so excited about the film - which also stars Johnny Depp - she phoned him up to ask him if she could be in it, which is something she never usually does.

She added to Empire magazine: "I can count maybe two or three times in my life when I've called a director. I was really uncomfortable doing it, and I don't think I would have done it had I not known it was him.

"He was very lovely, he was the same Tim. I always feel very comfortable with him, as we have very similar backgrounds, we grew up in similar neighbourhoods and obviously watched the same TV shows."

'Dark Shadows' is released on May 11.

Lindsay Lohan was reportedly a "total nightmare" on the set of "Glee"

The troubled actress - who recently won the opportunity to play the role of the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor in 'Liz and Dick' - turned up late on set and is believed to have been unprepared for the role when she arrived to play a part on the musical TV show.

A source told E! News: "Lindsay was a total nightmare yesterday. She was three hours late in the morning and when she did finally arrive, she just didn't want to be there. She did not want to work. She did not memorize her lines and she kept disappearing so no one could find her."

Lindsay filmed the first part of her role in the show - where she is playing herself - last week, but the follow-up shoot was not as successful.

However, Lindsay's spokesperson Steve Honig claimed it was a "misunderstanding" which made her late for her call.

He said: "The production team came to us and said that they wanted to start [with Lindsay] right after lunch, which was at 2. They wanted to begin with Lindsay at 3, so that meant she had a lot of time where she wasn't doing anything. That's why people didn't see her. She was then in hair and makeup and began after lunch at 3."

"If there was a problem yesterday, I would have just said 'no comment,' however I can't ignore this because this is utter B.S. This is a classic example of people trying to bash Lindsay. She busted her ass yesterday and is back on set again today."

The episode in which she stars will air on May 15.

Ryan O'Neal will take a paternity test in a bid to prove he is not the father of a two-month-old boy

'Love Story' star Ryan O'Neal, who has four children - Tatum, 48, Griffin, 47, Patrick, 43, and 27-year-old Redmond- from three different relationships, denies he had a "brief romantic relationship" with Jessica Zellers last year which led to her getting pregnant.

A source close to the 71-year-old actor - who has stage four prostate cancer - revealed he has agreed to the test in order to "put this behind him."

In a statement to RadarOnline.com, Jessica's attorneys said: "Last week we sent a request for a voluntary paternity test in the form of a court-admissible cheek swab from Mr. O'Neal.

"He and his lawyers were given the name and address of the medical clinic (which took samples from the mother and child), and its hours of operation.  All Mr. O'Neal has to do is go to the correct facility in the West Los Angeles area and the whole process should take 5-10 minutes. This is a very simple and minimally invasive procedure. The qualified medical and laboratory facilities are ready, willing, and able to take the samples from Mr. O'Neal. The cheek swab would clearly settle the issue of Mr. O'Neal's paternity once and for all."

Ryan's representatives have previously said: "This woman's claim is ridiculous and false. She has been harassing and stalking Ryan. He never had a personal relationship with her. This will be the first time a woman got pregnant without having sex or in-vitro."

Drew Barrymore is "totally focused" on getting married in June

Rosie has slammed troubled actress Lindsay Lohan - who is set to portray the iconic star in TV movie 'Liz and Dick' - accusing her of not being in the right frame of mind to work.

The Westmeath native was considering dying his hair back to his natural color but Cowell  warned the teenage heartthrob that it could lose him fans.

A source told the Sun newspaper, “Niall was desperate to get rid of his blond locks and go black just for an experiment, like loads of normal teens.”

“Luckily, he had the sense to ask Simon first because he knows how he works. He put in a text to him asking if he could change his hair color.”

The source continued, “Simon was straight back on to him with a short reply, "No way”.”

“Simon still controls a lot about the band down to the finest detail,” the source added.

On Tuesday the boy band flew back to London from Auckland, marking the end of their US, Australia and New Zealand trip.

Though not due out until this fall, fans can sneak a peek at what the new film may look like via the newly released photos.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who have been romantically involved now since the beginning of their Twilight journey together, can finally be seen with their matching vampire eyes. Red contacts give them both a glowing stare.

Both Stewart and Pattinson are expected to appear at the Cannes Film Festival next month. There, Stewart’s film adaptation ‘On the Road’ will be premiering, while Pattinson will be working double duty for his films ‘Bel Ami’ and ‘Cosmopolis.’

Rounding out this genetic jackpot that is the trifecta of the Twilight saga is Taylor Lautner, whose sultry stare and chiseled muscles will have fans swooning come fall.

Pat Kiernan, morning anchor for NY1, recently purchased a brownstone in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a record setting price. At $2.02 million, Kiernan’s new homestead is thought to be the most expensive purchase ever in the neighborhood.

The New York Daily News reports on Kiernan’s move to hipster hot spot Williamsburg. The morning anchor’s new Bedford Avenue townhouse is “unassuming” from the outside with aluminum siding. However, inside, the townhouse features three stories and four bedrooms.

Though the townhouse is in what is considered the heart of Williamsburg, it’s doubtful that Kiernan will have ample time to enjoy all that comes with the area of Brooklyn. As morning anchor, Kiernan is up and out by 3am everyday.

Kiernan, 43, is uprooting his wife and two daughters from their Upper West Side digs to head for Brooklyn.

Recently, Kiernan has apparently had his sights set on making the break for national television while filling in for guest co-host alongside Kelly Ripa on ABC’s ‘Live with Kelly.’ Following Regis Philbin’s departure, the co-host spot is up for grabs.

Jay said: "You always want to do better than your last song, and we've always set a really high standard with 'Glad You Came' already. Irish Canadian model Coco Rocha (23) is set to sue Elle Brazil after breaking to “no nudity” clause in her contract.

Rocha, who was originally spotted by a model scout while competing in Irish dance, has been a strong advocate of women having a positive attitude towards the female form and also for her “no-nudity policy”.

However it seems that Elle Brazil went too far and dabbled in some creative cut-and-pasting on Coco’s breasts.

Writing on her blog Rocha said “As a high fashion model I have long had a policy of no nudity or partial nudity in my photo shoots. For my recent Elle Brazil cover shoot I wore a body suit under a sheer dress which I now find was Photoshopped out to give the impression of me showing much more skin than I was, or am comfortable with. This was specifically against my expressed verbal and written direction to the entire team that they not do so. I’m extremely disappointed that my wishes and contract was ignored. I strongly believe every model has a right to set rules for how she is portrayed and for me these rules were clearly circumvented.”

Elle Brazil should really know better than to mess with Coco Rocha. She was one of the first models to speak frankly about eating disorders in the trade. She also sits on the advisory board for The Model Alliance, which is dedicated to improving the working conditions of models and persuading the industry to take better care of its young women.

The couple - who already have three-year-old daughter Naleigh from South Korea - have welcomed another child, but a name is not yet known.

The couple's representative confirmed: "Yes they have adopted a baby.

No further details are available at this time."In January, 33-year-old Katherine confirmed she was talking about taking on another child with her 32-year-old husband.

She said: "Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged.

We have talked about having biological children as well but we decided to adopt first. I'd like to adopt again."

The 'Grey's Anatomy' beauty previously claimed she felt like a "bad mother" when she first adopted Naleigh from South Korea in 2009 because she could not bond with her.

She said: "I fought incredibly hard for my daughter to accept me as mother.  Her rejection almost broke my heart.

"At first I blamed myself and thought I was a bad mother. It took a while before I could admit to myself that the lack of trust had nothing to do with me."

Bee Gees Robin Gibb's family were told to "make plans" for his death

The 62-year-old singer - who rose to fame in the Bee Gees - has awoken from a coma he slipped into last week after he was diagnosed with pneumonia, and his son Robin-John Gibb has confirmed he was given very little chance of survival.

He told ITV News: "They said they'd thrown the kitchen sink at him, that it was time to make plans because he was in God's hands and such.

But he beat the odds again." His wife Dwina, who was recently seen crying as she left the London hospital
he was being treated in, said Robin was back on good form.

She added: "He is laughing, he is joking. He is really happy."

Dr Andrew Thillainayagam of Imperial College London said everyone was surprised at how Robin had overcome "incredible odds" to wake up from the coma.

He said: "The prognosis was very grave. We felt it was very likely Robin would succumb to what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles.

"It is testament to Robin's extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds.

"Robin is fully conscious, lucid and able to speak to his loved ones. He is breathing on his own.

"He is on intravenous feeding and antibiotics. He is of course, exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished."

One Direction to release new toy collection with Hasbro -- products won’t be sold in UK or Ireland

One Direction - first the Billboard charts, now toy stores? Hasbro has announced that they will be creating a line of toys and games bearing the boyband's image to market and sell to adoring fans around the world.

Legions of ‘Directioners,’ the loyal fan base of One Direction, will surely be quick to snatch up all the upcoming products.

John Frascotti, chief marketing officer for Hasbro, Inc, said to MarketWatch that "In the short time since the group's debut, One Direction has captured the hearts of many young fans across the world. The band is poised for continued and increasing global success.”

“We are excited about the opportunity to provide One Direction's very enthusiastic international fan base with a diverse product line that captures the essence of the band members,” added Frascotti.

Will Bloomfield, a representative of Modest! Management, said that "One Direction are thrilled to partner with Hasbro. Hasbro has a proven track record of successfully working with artists to market music-related brands to kids and teens around the world and both we and the band very much look forward to working with them at this incredibly exciting time."

The new product line featuring the five lads is set to debut this fall. Surprisingly, the products will be sold globally, except for in the UK and Ireland where the boys call home.

One Direction was formulated as part of the 2010 season of the UK ‘X-Factor’ with leadership from Simon Cowell and his label Syco. Now record-breaking as the first ever UK musical act to debut at number one on the US Billboard charts, One Direction is made up of Mullingar-native Niall Horan and UK natives Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

 British talent show impresario Simon Cowell has certainly made his mark on this side of the Atlantic with American Idol -- but not so much his follow up The X-Factor, which debuted here to so-so ratings last year.

Now he’s got a new problem on his hands, a just published warts and all unauthorized biography that portrays him as a self-obsessed, eccentric, plastic surgery loving lothario who can’t get his act together when it comes to opposite sex.

Cowell has at least one defender out there, though – Louis Walsh, the Irish boyband manager and judge on the British X Factor who has been both a friend and foe of Cowell’s for years.

Walsh, 59, quite the entrepreneur in his own right given that he founded two of the biggest boybands in Europe, Westlife and Boyzone, says Simon may have his faults, but overall he’s one of the good guys.

"Simon loves life, fun, cars, girls and he works hard," Walsh told the Sunday World in Dublin. "He is self-made and a worldwide success. And yes he is arrogant, ambitious and enjoys life.

"I can only say good things about him. I've known him for 14 years and he has made so many people's careers and made them millionaires.  He gave me a break and changed my life. I wouldn't be where I am without him.”

The two famously fell out a few years back when Cowell temporarily fired Walsh from The X Factor, but the spat didn’t last long and Walsh was back on the air, where he remains to this day. The X Factor in the U.K. doesn’t quite have the ratings muscle that it displayed in its heyday a couple of years ago, but Walsh has remained steadfast, like Randy Jackson after all the American Idol upheaval.

"I know the real Simon, he's fun, he's hard working, and he has never done anything wrong on anybody,” Walsh added. 

"He is as vain as hell, but he's upfront about it. He looks after himself, but he tells you everything he does, that's the thing about him. I've been in his house and he's just fun. He's really good to his mother and he loves animals."

U2’s Bono leaves poetry in Israel hotel room - “A Dog called Hope”

Bono spent some time in Israel earlier this month and was obviously moved by his visit – so much so that he wrote a poem and sketched a drawing for the staff at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem where he stayed.

The U2 frontman, equally known for his advocacy on behalf of the African poor, sketched a picture of a dog he called Hope. He characterized Jerusalem as a place where “hope springs eternal.”

Here’s what he wrote: "Hope is like a faithful dog, sometimes she runs ahead of me to check the future, to sniff it out and then I call to her: Hope, Hope, come here, and she comes to me. I pet her, she eats out of my hand and sometimes she stays behind, near some other hope maybe to sniff out whatever was.

“Then I call her my Despair. I call out to her. Here, my little Despair, come here and she comes and snuggles up, and again I call her Hope."

He signed his letter, "With great thanks for great room in great hotel in great city, Bono."

It’s likely that Bono’s wife Ali and their two sons Elijah and John were with them too, as the bottom of the picture contained their names.

Bono’s visit to Israel was under the radar until his note came to light.

Michael Lohan lashes out - dubbed Rosie O’Donnell a talentless failure

Miaow. It's clash of the Irish Americans as Michael Lohan, father of the troubled starlet Lindsay, lashed out this week at Rosie O'Donnell.

Lohan was responding to O'Donnell's rejection of his daughter's fitness to play Elizabeth Taylor in a new biopic.

O'Donnell is in no position to bash Lindsay fumed Lohan senior, countering that Rosie's a washed-up failure at life and she only stayed famous because she adopted a bunch of kids.

Lohan  told TMZ, 'Who the hell is Rosie O'Donnell to judge anyone, especially Lindsay, who has far more talent than Rosie ever had?'

'Lindsay's talent isn't limited to being a comedian or getting notoriety for adopting and raising a bunch of kids. Sure, she has her pitfalls, but she is 25, and how old is Rosie?' (50, if you're wondering).

Lohan added: 'Two failed talk shows, a failed marriage, etc. He/she who is without sin, may they cast the first stone.'

Rosie tore up the 'Today' show on Tuesday morning, claiming Lindsay hasn't made a single good film since she was 16 and simply isn't capable of portraying Liz Taylor in her new movie.

One Direction’s Niall Horan doesn’t let a spot of food poisoning stop him getting frisky with the ladies

Twitter tells all Mr Horan. And the adventures of Niall Horan of late haven’t been great.

After a really successful tour in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, Niall and the boys are back in the UK for some well earned rest but Niall’s journey back to the UK seems to have been a bumpy ride.

Following an amazing successful couple of weeks it’s no wonder the Mullingar lad is tired. He tweeted “Not feeling the best! Sore all over! Under the weather as they say," Niall said, before continuing, "that was a long day, feeling a tad bit better, need a good nights sleep." [sic]

Unfortunately the prognosis wasn’t good. Later on he tweeted, “Food poisoning not good!”

However, this didn’t stop the scallywag flirting with British “X Factor” winner Alexandra Burke. He was looking for some TLC from the R&B star.

He tweeted “Since im gona be sooo tired n jetlagged when im home..ur gona havta help me out hahahaha. i joke xxx."

The poor young fella finally made it back safe and sound but apparently he’ll be keeping his head down for the next week. He said “Yessss! Back in london! Sleep for the next week, don't wana see a sole”.

The 23-year-old star and her fiance, rocker Thomas Cohen, became parents to a baby boy - who they had previously announced they planned to name Astala Dylan Willow - earlier this week and couldn't be happier.
Peaches tweeted: "yes, it's true - I'M A MUMMY!

"My little boy is the most beautiful thing in this world. When he holds @tomfromscum's finger with his hand its the sweetest thing ever. (sic)"

Tom added: "I'm a dad he is the most perfect thing ever so proud of his beautiful mum @peaches_g and overcome with joy x (sic)"

Peaches' publicist later confirmed the news, but didn't say when the baby had been born.

He said: "Peaches and Thomas are delighted to announce the birth of their son Astala, both were overjoyed at his arrival this week."

Peaches - whose father is Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof - previously revealed she had been due to give birth on April 24, the birthday of her late mother Paula Yates, who died from a drugs overdose in 2000.
She said: "It was amazing for me when they told me that, very emotional and touching and just really beautiful. I was so happy.

"I feel like it’s a little wink from my mum; her way of sending a message to let me know that she’s watching over me and my baby."

The actress took time out from her career following the death of her husband Robert Graham from a rare blood disease in 2008, and she admits she was glad to work on the comedy movie – about life and death and cancer – because she could get tearful.

She told Radio Times magazine: "It was extremely cathartic. Every day I could legally cry, which was important to me. I was living it the way I lived it. My work has always reflected my life."

Following his death Anjelica – who is also known for her relationship with Jack Nicholson – left Los Angeles and she thinks it helped her begin to get over her grief.

She added: "It takes me away from the pain I was going through in the last few years, with death and being in a house that I knew at some point I would have to move away from.

"Change is sometimes very painful. A new person emerges from the chrysalis of who you were and you go from feeling vulnerable to feeling that something brilliant has changed your life for the better."

The couple's home in the south of France is a betting favorite wedding venue. Odds are 1/16 that Angelina Jolie will tie the knot for the third time in France, followed by 7/1 in Italy and 14/1 in California.

Other odds include will Pitt sport a beard or not on the big day, will they be having / getting a seventh child before the wedding, will Jolie wear a leather dress and a vial of Pitt’s blood, like her marriage to Billy Bob Thornton.

“30 Rock” star Alec Baldwin, much loved for his role as Jack Donaghy, has just returned from a holiday to Italy with his fiancée Hilaria Thomas.

The actor of Irish, British and French descent went to twitter for suggestion on his wedding on Friday. He tweeted “Anyone got a castle they're not using in September?"

Seeing as he named his daughter Ireland why not keep up with the them and have it in one of the hundreds of beautiful castles in the Emerald Isle right?!

Although there seems to have been no serious comments made on Twitter some followers came up with some fun response such as “s*** rich people say” and “OK…how about a big tent?”

Other’s suggested that they have Baldwin’s friend and iconic comedian Steven Martin and his bluegrass group, Steep Canyon Rangers, play at the wedding. Baldwin responded saying “Can't afford him!”

Over the last couple of years “The Wire” star Dominic West tied the knot with his wife at Glin Castle, in Limerick.

Also Danny Masterson, famous for his role as Steven Hyde in “That’s 70s Show” married in a castle in Tipperary last year.

Stewart was wearing a Baltimore Oriole’s baseball cap along with a vintage tshirt promoting Edgar Winters and his band, White Trash. On her feet, she donned red Converse sneakers. RPatz was also wearing a baseball cap, sneakers and a tshirt that read “Avalon Swinger.”

Just last week there was speculations that they were under contractual agreements not to appear in public together until the end of the Bella Swan and Edward Cullen romance on “Twilight” but now here they are blending into a crowd of 90,000 festival goers at Coachella.

The Bee Gees star - who has liver and colon cancer - was thought to be very close to death after contracting pneumonia and slipping into a coma last week, but he has since made startling progress.

The 'How Deep is Your Love' singer's wife Dwina was even told by doctors at The London Clinic in central London he only had days to live, but Robin is now awake, breathing with an oxygen mask and able to talk with friends and relatives.

Dr Andrew Thillainayagam of Imperial College, London, said: "The prognosis was very grave. We felt it was very likely Robin would succumb to what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles.

"It is testament to Robin's extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds.

"Robin is fully conscious, lucid and able to speak to his loved ones. He is breathing on his own.

"He is on intravenous feeding and antibiotics. He is of course, exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished."

The doctor added he was hoping that with further progress Robin could be moved from the intensive care unit of the hospital to the ward and begin the process of nutritional and physical rehabilitation.

He also praised Dwina and the couple's children Robin-John, Spencer and Melissa for their "determination never to give up on him."

Robin's family held a constant bedside vigil for him and played his favorite music to encourage him.

Robin's brother and Bee Gees band mate, Barry, 65, had also been singing to him.

Dwina has said Robin even cried when she played Roy Orbison's track 'Crying'.

Carey Mulligan persuaded Colin Firth to give a speech at her wedding

The 26-year-old actress and Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford tied the knot inside a barn at Stream Farm in Bridgwater, Somerset, South West England, at a service conducted by the groom's vicar father John and Carey asked the British actor to speak at the reception.

The pair became close during awards season in 2010, when they were both nominated for multiple gongs, Colin for his role in  'A Single Man' and Carey for her breakthrough performance in 'An Education'.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "She thought it would be funny to have the actor address the room.

"Unlike his character in 'The King's Speech', Colin was a pro at the speech. He was his charming self and had the room in fits."

Carey - who wore a full-length ivory plain backless dress with V-straps, thought to be a Versace design - had eight bridesmaids, wearing turquoise knee-high prom dresses.

Among the 200 guests at the rustic-themed celebration were celebrities including Sienna Miller and Carey's 'Brothers' co-star Jake Gyllenhaal.

Carey - who previously dated 'Transformers' actor Shia LaBeouf - and Marcus were childhood pen pals who reconnected as adults.

They have been dating for over a year and got engaged last August, though they are rarely seen in public together.

A “normal” guy got a taste of what life is like for the members of One Direction when a crowd of teenage fans of the boy band descended on him in New Zealand.

Thinking he was one of the band members trying to leave a hotel in Auckland incognito with a hat and shades, the girls gave Guy Parsons the full-on adulation treatment.

Some fans realized Guy was just a regular guy, but others decided to give him the pop star treatment anyway.

"I said 'I've got you, I'm not one of them', but they still wanted photos," he said according to the Sunday Star Times.

"I don't think I could do that everyday, but for the three minutes I was posing and running away from the girls I liked the attention."

One Direction are in New Zealand on tour and are as big there as they are all over the world.

Even Niall Horan battles "self-esteem" issues from time to time

Drop dead gorgeous? Check. Member of the biggest boy band in the universe? Check. The target of millions and millions of female fans’ adulation? Check.

So guess what? Niall Horan from One Direction still has the occasional self-esteem crisis just like the rest of us, which is refreshing, if a little unbelievable.

According to Unreality TV,  Niall told Metro that self-confidence issues wrack him from time to time.

“I think, ‘What’s all the fuss about?’ and ‘Am I really that good looking?’ – ‘We all have self doubt,’” he said.

Thomas Beattie, the Irish American transgendered man who kept his female sexual organs to have kids has announced he is divorcing his wife Nancy. The couple had been married for nine years. Beattie, who had taken hormones and looks very masculine did not had his female organs removed however until recently. He bore three children with his wife and they live in Bend, Oregon. Beattie has now undergone the entire gender change operation. He told reporters he and his wife have ht a rough patch and they need to separate.

The former 'Lizzie McGuire' star welcomed baby Luca on March 20, and says one of the most exciting milestones so far has been the remainder of his umbilical chord falling off.

And while Mike was all for throwing it out, first-time mother Hilary admits she had other ideas.

She said: "I wanted to keep it but my husband was like, 'No, that's gross, you can't keep it!' I'm like, 'I'm totally keeping it', and I secretly kept it.

"But now it's not a secret anymore. It's in a Ziploc bag in the back of my makeup drawer. Luca's going to think I'm a freak!"

While Mike is proving to be a "hands-on" father, there is one area that he can't help in and that's breastfeeding.

Hilary, 24, told People Magazine: "He's really hands-on during the day. But at night, I'm the only one that can feed the baby. I wasn't going to make him suffer just because I was having to get up."

But despite the sleep deprivation, she believes breastfeeding has its plus side.

She added: "It's such a wonderful bonding time. Just to have your baby thrive and knowing that you're doing that and you're responsible - it's such a rewarding feeling."

One Direction brought a Brisbane father to tears this week, when his daughter achieved her dream of meeting the teenage pinups.

Anthony Lee and his daughter Catie Rose managed to catch a moment with the band as they left a photo shoot in Brisbane.

With camera in hand, the proud father, now being duped Australia’s best dad, cried tears of joy when his teenage daughter got to meet the British boy band.

"We waited for three hours and when they came out we met them," Catie Rose told the TODAY Show.

Lee said they had previously tried to meet the teenage boy band through competitions and at concerts.

"We never got tickets but we got the best thing, a hug from Harry and autographs from all the boys," Lee said.

When a reporter questioned why he was crying Lee replied "just to see her happy because she tried so hard".

"It's taken so long to get her here and she's got a signed thing by them. She's done it."

Also crying, Catie Rose told the reporter "I love him (her dad) so much."

Niall Horan has a admitted that he’s naturally a brunette. Speaking on “The Chrissie & Jane Show”, an Australian chat show, Horan admitted he’s been bleaching his hair for a long time. But he admitted he’s getting sick of his hair care routine.

It could be that Horan is trying to get away from the blonde haired, blue eyed innocent young lad.

So does this mean he’s going to go back to his natural blonde.

He said “I'm trying to get rid of the blonde hair…because I've been doing blonde since I was about 12, so I'm actually sick of it now.”

So what do we think? Is it time for the blonde cutie to shed his blond locks and go brunette like the rest of the band?

No more older women - the One Direction boys have set themselves a dating age limit

Louis Tomlinson, 20, believes there is plenty of time for he and his band mates - Liam Payne, 18, Niall Horan, 18, Zayn Malik, 19, and 18-year-old Harry Styles, who recently dated 32-year-old TV presenter Caroline Flack - to romance older women, but they have ruled out anyone over 23 or 24 for now.
 
He is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "We're young lads, and you can date older women when you're older.

"But when you're older, you can't really get away with dating 18 or 19 year olds.

"We have been asked that before, I think it was around the time of Harry's little fling. In particular, how old's too old? For me, probably 23 or 24."

While Louis and Liam - who are dating student Eleanor Calder and dancer Danielle Peazer respectively - are enjoying their ever-increasing fame, the pair are determined not to give up their girlfriends as a result.

A friend recently said: "There's been a lot of talk about the 1D boys being banned from having girlfriends.

It's better as it makes them seem more attainable - particularly with their new army of female fans in the US.

"But there's absolutely no way Liam and Louis will give up Danielle and Eleanor. They don't see why their personal lives should suffer."
