Susan Boyle needs to tell her brother Gerry to shut up

Isn't it high time that Susan Boyle's brother Gerry Boyle stepped out of her life?

Since she hit the big time Gerry has been an ever present in the media, acting like a Greek chorus, criticizing Susan herself at times and then all those around her.

Now he seems to have carried this too far by warning prospective boyfriends that the family will be vetting them.

Last time I looked Gerry, Susan was 49-years-old and well capable of looking after herself on romantic issues.

Gerry said to an Australian magazine that any love interests will be thoroughly checked by her family.

He said: 'Our family is very protective of Susan. Anyone coming into a circle from a romantic angle would have to go through the wringer. She becomes attached very easily to people so she has to be careful.

'I think there has to be a bit of reality in her life. I think the world realises she is fragile. She's desperately keen to be loved.'

Gerry, stop being so condescending to your sister and get over the fact that she, not you, is the superstar,

Go get a life somewhere that will take your mind off your sister and her career for a while.

She is doing great without you by the way

Susan tell him to shut up for once and for all.

Bono meets President Obama at the Oval Office

It had to happen and it finally did.

Bono, the man who has made debt and aid relief to Africa part of his life's work, finally got the Oval Office invite to meet with our Commander in Chief in Washington to discuss the administration's development work in Africa.

According to The White House press release the Irish social activist singer joined with President Obama, along with members of his national security staff, to talk about ways to make sure U.S. foreign aid is effective.

Bono also discussed opportunities for using innovation and technology to drive economic growth in Africa. The meeting Friday comes as the administration prepares for several international summits where development will be on the agenda.

All very worthy stuff and we will always admire Bono's tireless dedication, after all he's been doing it for over half his life. We just hope that the President asked the U2 singer to break his guitar out before he headed home.

If anyone knows how to turn a so-so day into a beautiful one it's Bono.

Kathy Griffin's Lasik nightmare left her reeling

Kathy Griffin is not exactly shy about medical procedures. Over the years the Irish American comedian has undergone multiple surgeries including liposuction, rhinoplasty, browlift and Botox.

At one point she even joked to Oprah Winfrey: 'I’m working on the new personality.'

But when it comes to corrective laser treatment, she is adamantly against it after her own nightmare experiences.

When Griffin went for Lasik surgery in 2003 the procedures left her more and more shaken. Griffin underwent a total of five operations performed by Doctor Robert Maloney in Los Angles, correcting what she called mounting errors, until she was eventually left partially blind in her right eye.

On her website, Griffin states: 'I will not be going to him again.'

Griffin's final procedure lasted 90 minutes and she endured 17 stitches in her eye for three weeks. That's why nowadays she urges anyone considering getting Lasik surgery to look at her experience and think again.

On her website Griffin wrote: 'As of now, I’m not in pain anymore, but my vision in my right eye is extremely blurry. It can’t be improved with glasses or contacts."

Apparently the procedure is not without risks. No one forced Kathy to do it of course, but in the get-it-taken-care-of-quick society we live it its as well to remember there are real risks attached.

Drug that makes men as compassionate as women on sale

A team of German and British scientists have invented a new nasal spray that makes men more 'empathetic.'

Now ask yourself, how useful would this be when you ask your man to attend 'Sex and The City 2' or you want to go shoe shopping all afternoon?

Could this thing be too good to be true? Apparently not. It seems to genuinely work. But how does it work?

Let’s find out:

'Researchers found that inhaling the so-called 'cuddle hormone' oxytocin made men just as empathetic as women. The study in 48 volunteers also showed that the spray boosted the ability of men to learn from positive feedback.'

OK, sign me up for a caseload.

Writing in the Journal of Neuroscience, the researchers said that Oxytocin is a naturally produced hormone, most well-known for triggering labour pains and promoting bonding between mother and baby.

The drug that makes men compassionate. It's been a fantasy for women for centuries and finally its actually real. Maybe now they'll discover what it feels like for a girl. Oh what a brave new world lies ahead of us.

Twitter beats RTE to Gerry Ryan death story

Twitter beat every Irish media outlet Friday in announcing the death of broadcaster Gerry Ryan.

John McMahon, the head of 2fm, said RTE delayed announcing the news out of respect for his family.

McMahon said many of Ryan's family and close personal friends did not know about his death although news had already broken on Twitter.

Indeed, one of Ryan's colleagues, Miriam O’Callaghan, confirmed his death in a tweet about an hour before RTE announced his death. She subsequently deleted the tweet.

McMahon said Ryan's family's wishes came first.

“We’d been advised by the family that there were certain very close members who had not been informed so RTÉ made the decision that we were not going to broadcast news on this. So we did hold off on it. We weren’t the first to break a story like this for the very valid reasons that his family and his close personal friends needed to be informed first,” he said.

“I know everyone has a hunger for news and other stations did mention it first, but we felt his immediate family had the right to have his dignity respected.”

Mandy Moore to appear on 'Grey's Anatomy' finale

Irish American actress Mandy Moore is to appear on the final episode of this season's "Grey's Anatomy."

The folks at Seattle Grace go off our screens in a two-hour finale on Thursday, May 20 on ABC.

Producers call the show "a real shocker."

Now that we know Moore is going to be in it - as a patient - we are going to be glued to our television sets here at IrishCentral.co.

The finale will be called "Sanctuary"

Seattle Grace is going to be hit "with a crisis like no other," said producers.

Moore will play a patient called Mary. She will be treated by Bailey (Chandra Wilson)

Mary's husband will be played by Ryan Devlin - of "Veronica Mars."

High intense drama in the finale episode will find Dr. Meredith Grey and her friend Dr. Christian Yang using their surgical skills like never before.

This is one not to be missed.

Lindsay Lohan faces jail time

Lindsay Lohan could face jail time for violating the terms of her probation.

She has not been showing up for her judge ordered alcohol education classes (evidently!).

These classes were prescribed by a judge last year after Lohan was nabbed on a DUI rap.

Judge Marsha Revel gave the troubled starlet a stern warning. She will be tossed behind bars if she failed to comply with her probation terms.

Lohan had obviously read the terms and conditions of her probation closely. The alcohol-ed school is obligated to inform judge if a student misses 21 days or more.

Cunning, Lohan has managed to get through this loophole by waiting until the 21st day to show up, reported TMZ.

Shawn Chapman Holley, Lohan’s lawyer denies that she has violated her probation.

Though she hasn’t specifically broken any of the terms she’s not exactly following the judges orders either.

All will be revealed at Lohan’s progress hearing the May 20.

What's with the ferret assaulting Conan O'Brien's face?

What's with Conan O'Brien's facial hair? It looks as if Coco's being assaulted by a deranged ferret.

Sunday night, the nation can see the new-look Conan, 47, on the CBS show "60 Minutes."

It's the first time most of us have seen the trimmer - and hairier - Conan since he departed NBC with much acrimony in January.

Conan - who's done 30 live shows across the U.S. over the past few months, says he would never have done what Jay Leno did.

"He went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know - I know me, I wouldn't have done that," he tells Steve Kroft in "60 Minutes."

In his first TV appearance since "The Tonight Show" debacle, Conan says, "Everyone's got their own, you know, way of doing things."

He says that if he had been in Leno's shoes, he would've "done something else, go someplace else."

He said he would not have "surrendered 'The Tonight Show' and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well...and then...six months later...But that's me, you know."

He also got a final dig in at NBC saying that waving goodbye to the Peacock was like severing a "toxic" relationship.

Siobhan Magnus wants to be just like Adam Lambert

Siobhan Magnus relishes being compared to Adam Lambert last year's glam runner up on American Idol.

In a conference call on Thursday Magnus said she loved Lambert's individuality and confidence onstage.

She said that continuing to define herself as an artist like Lambert did -- and not let others do it -- is "important to me to show that's something I care about,"

I'm stubborn and strong-willed. I do what I do because it rests well on my heart." she said

Magnus stated she had no hard feelings after being voted off calling her time on the show a"wild ride that isn't over."

As for being bounced on Wednesday night she said "it was hard,"

But she said she already missed her fellow idols "We'll be friends forever, though, I miss them already."

Next up is a trip to New York on Friday and then rehearsals for the Idol summer touring show as well as a huge family dinner with up to 30 relatives.

Magnus says she would like to star in a big musical someday ("Phantom of the Opera," "Jesus Christ Superstar"), or land at least a small part in a "wicked gory" horror flick.

She also wants to work with her brothers and sisters on "a Magnus work of art."

"This is the end of one thing, the beginning of another," said Magnus. "I'm grateful for the entire experience."

Lindsay Lohan revels it all on Twitter

Her ever so public relationship issues are becoming even more public as Lindsay Lohan tweets about them.

Lohan is still fighting with former girlfriend, Samantha Ronson.

At the weekend Lindsay got in trouble for throwing a drink at Ronson's head.

Lindsay claims that Samantha got her thrown out of a party.

Lohan tweeted, "I'm pretty sure that @samantharonson just threw a fit @33years old and my friend tal @draishollywood illegally open NOW at this hour," Lindsay tweeted early Thursday morning.

"Asked me, after being here jus for Timbalands birthday-to leave even though she stayed over just 2nights ago-tired of @samantharonson"

She added, "Playing the innocent card, while chatting to tmz just like my ex-father, when all I've ever done is fall for a girl."

"Jack and crack will make for some crazy tweets," Sam responded. "One more thing- if you're gonna be an idiot an do coke- do it outside the bathroom- some of us actually use them to pee in."

Colin Farrell shows off girlfriend Alicja Bachleda

Although we all know that hunky Colin Farrell is dating hot gal Alicja Bachleda but we don't actually get to see them that much together in public.

However, after nearly a year of keeping their romance on the down-low, the pair stepped out together on Wednesday for their movie premier "Ondine" at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

They met on the set of "Ondine" and instantly fell in love.

In the movie Farrell is an Irish fisherman who falls for a mermaid, (Bachleda).

Although the couple avoided any display of public affection when they walked the red carpet and attended the after party at Soho's Bebe restaurant there is no questions these two are very much in lurv!!

"We met on the set, and we were very professional and focused on our part and our jobs," said the Mexican-born, Polish actress Bachleda, 26.

"The story itself is so beautiful … we really didn't have time to get our true emotions [on screen]."

Ironically, Farrell said the hardest part of the movie was perfecting a certain Irish dialect for the role. "one of the hardest accents I had to do, because I felt a national obligation not to [muck] it up."

He explained, "Even though Ireland is a small island, there are a plethora of dialects. I was more familiar with the American accent watching T.J. Hooker in CHiPs than I was with the Irish accent in this particular town. It was a very kind of impenetrable accent."

Farrell speaks with a strong Dublin accent.

World War 2 bomb discovered outside George Clooney's summer villa

A 500lb explosive was discovered only 15 years from the home of Irish American (yes we are still claiming him) hunky actor, George Clooney.

Now before you begin jumping to any conclusions the bomb wasn't planted in an attempt on Clooney's life.

It's been there for a pretty long time, as long as World War 2 in fact.

The explosive was found in Lake Como deep under the water and right in front of the actors uber fancy 30-bedroom mansion.

As bomb experts were called in to make sure the bomb wasn't a danger and to remove it, the little town of Laglio was sealed off until the specialists disabled the device.

Clooney is not at the Villa at the minute but I'm sure he would have found the whole thing very interesting.

Clooney purchased the Villa in 2001 for $12 million.

However, a few months ago he announced his plans to sell the villa.

Rumors are that the Beckham's and a Russian vodka billionaire are in a bidding war for the famous villa.

Real estate experts believe it could fetch about $50.

Was Megan Fox once an ugly duckling?

She may be a knock out today but "Transformers" babe Megan Fox wasn't always so easy on the eye.

Like many teenagers Foxy suffered from acne and she still has the scars to prove it.

See picture above: you will have to look closely at her cheeks to notice the little pot marks.

It's kind of reassuring to know that Megan was one of the normal girls back in the day.

Now men drop at her feet, women wish they were her and movie executives want her in their movies to give it some spice.

But I'm sure Megan wasn't always so popular.

I'm wondering if she was ever called "pizza face" like so many acne faced teenagers.

Were kids cruel to her like they were to so many more?

Did she get bullied because of her problem or did she rise above it?

Either way the foxy lady did pretty well for herself!

Make up has been a great friend masking her scars but either way she probably doesn't need it.

She is drop dead gorgeous.

So young girls with acne.. don't despair.. If Megan Fox had it and became a mega super-star, you can too.

:)

Robert Pattinson hailed as 'weirdo' in Time 2010 Top 100

"Twilight's" Robert Pattinson has been hailed as a "weirdo" in the Time 2010 Top 100.

In his profile, "New Moon" director Chris Weitz says RPatz is "a bit of a weirdo, frankly, in the best sense."

Weitz joked that he would have to keep his profile positive because "If I say something bad about Rob Pattinson, I'm dead meat!"

Weitz revealed that he thinks Robert would do things differently if he had known how much fever would be sparked by "Twilight."

"It's certainly not how he planned it," he said.

Weitz also revealed that he was "continually impressed" by Rob's "aplomb" in handling the Twi-hysteria.

"I occasionally think he would take it all back if given the chance."

However, Weitz believes that Robert's set for even more fame.

"We haven't seen a tenth of what he can do onscreen," he said.

We believe ya Chris!

Alec Baldwin confesses to secret fantasies about Sarah Palin

Alec Baldwin's got some kinda fatal attraction for former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

The “30 Rock’’ star says he fantasizes about Palin even though he's a self-confessed and dyed-in-the-wool Democrat .
“I might be a Democrat, but I’m not dead,’’ he said.

“It’s tough for me because I do care a lot about politics," he said.

However, maybe Baldwin means he's attracted to Palin mimic Tina Fey who plays his co-star Liz Lemon in "30 Rock"?
It's Complicated alright!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart together onscreen, not off

Robert Pattinson left London via Healthrow airport yesterday, with just his guitar as companion. Kristen Stewart left Los Angeles via LAX yesterday.

A number of media sources say that they were both spotted in their respective airports, and that both are headed for Vancouver, so they will be together in Canada.

Taylor Lautner will be there too, all three to do some final shooting on The 'Twilight' saga 'Eclipse' and to start to push their movie so fans won't forget the film will hit theaters at the end of June. As if the fans could ever forget.

The bigger question is are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart going to be together - as in boyfriend and girlfriend - as they do their work in Canada?

Pardon us if we doubt it.

These are actors playing roles that should not be confused with - you know - real life. We understand why the fans are tempted to put them together in reality too, but nothing about this so-called affair rings true.

The co-stars will go to the premiere of 'Eclipse' in Los Angeles on June 24 at the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater. Will they walk the red carpet together? Certainly.

Will they be each other's date? Hmm, we don't think so.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers fourth and last series of 'The Tudors' begins

Well, there's no doubt that Henry VIII knew how to makes heads turn - or should that be roll?

And in 'The Tudors', which is now its fourth and final season, the cast and crew of this bloated chocolate box version of history sure know how to make eyes roll too.

First there's the intense and often scary performance of Ireland's Jonathan Rhys Meyers. If ever an actor was well cast for a role that requires gold plated megalomania, it's our Johnny.

He excels as the capricious, nasty piece of work that Henry VIII actually was. The new series began in the sweltering summer of 1540, as Henry has his fourth marriage to Anne of Cleves nullified.

Meanwhile, he has noticed Catherine Howard, who at 17 becomes wife number five. You'd think with odds like that she'd have been a bit more cautious, but who knows?

The fourth season will ultimately carry Henry to his death in 1547. But for Jonathan Rhys Meyers the whole silly series has been a wild and unexpectedly successful silly ride.

For Lindsay Lohan it's time to take stock, good and bad

This is the week that Lindsay Lohan may want to sit down and take stock. Why? Because recent events are telling her that her professional reputation is almost shot.

Lohan needs to learn how to navigate the good, the bad and the downright ugly parts of Hollywood stardom - a task that increasingly seems to be dragging the 23 year old down.

It's not like she's short of obstacles. She's been thrown off projects, been in bruising public confrontations with her ex Samantha Ronson, and she's had to weekly fend off the unwanted help of her apparently fame loving father.

Growing up in the spotlight, there's no question she's had it rough.

But if 2010 is still going to be the year she predicted: '2010 is about moving forward, not backward' then she needs to act decisively, and soon.

For all her troubles, Lohan is still a star. And a major one at that. She's still one of the most photographed faces in the world.

We won't be surprised if she finds it hard to find her groove again so quickly. We just know that she's talented and her career is finally on the line.

Robert Pattinson's fourth Twilight movie begins in October

Robert Pattinson's fourth Twilight movie will begin shooting in October, we're hearing.

The fourth and final installment of the vampire romance franchise, titled Breaking Dawn, could actually begin shooting that soon.

This time actor Christian Serratos, who will likely be staring in the film accidentally let the information slip at a recent Twilight convention that was held in Australia.

When asked about the shooting start date for the fourth movie, Serratos replied “October.” This is a direct contrast to Kristen Stewart’s comment that “No word is out yet.”

It is likely that they will be keeping the start date quiet for quite some time, as these plans can be subject to change depending on how well the third movie does when it is released.

Depending on the atmosphere, they may be willing to push the movie back or even begin shooting earlier if convenient in order to make the most out of the movie launch.

Fans of the series and of Robert Pattinson can mark the month down on their calendar as the start date for the fourth Twilight film.

Bono of U2 faces loss of $140 million in Hewlett-Packard deal

Bono, lead singer of Irish supergroup U2, is set to face a loss of $140 million after Palm announced a $1.2 billion deal to sell itself to personal computer giant Hewlett-Packard.

It's not such a beautiful day, huh?

Bono’s private equity venture, Elevation Partners, owns an approximate 30 percent stake in Palm, having invested $460 million in the struggling personal handset maker in 2007 and 2008.

The H-P deal values Palm’s equity at $961 million – and the rest of the deal price is debt – meaning Elevation’s stake will be worth roughly $320 million, press reports confirm.

Palm has struggled in recent years as a result of suddenly lagging sales and increasing marketing costs, downgrading sales estimates for the current quarter by more than half in March.
H-P said late on Wednesday it has reached an agreement to buy Palm, as part of a concerted attempt by the world’s largest computer maker to make its presence felt in the smart phone market.

Seems like the legendary front man may be stuck in a moment he can't get out of. Yet.

Siobhan Magnus did not get fair treatment from Simon Cowell on 'American Idol'

Did Siobhan Magnus get a fair shake on American idol?

Looking at her shocked family last night you had to think that if looks could kill they would have struck down Simon Cowell.

On several occasion he was downright obnoxious about the Irish American girl from Cape Cod.

The embrace between Siobhan and Simon was as awkward as a first kiss.

Neither, it was clear, could stand the other and Siobhan did not try and hide it.

He saved his worst vitriol for her during the preceding weeks and no doubt that had a huge impact on the voting public as they began to vote.

Cowell gets away with it of course, as the guy we all love to hate.

But tearing down young and very vulnerable men and women before a national audience is not a very nice way to earn a living.

Especially when you have shown no sign of talent whatsoever yourself.

What music has Simon every composed or sung?

What great contribution has he made to music other than to act as the Lord High Executioner on a television program?

In the modern world, however, he who speaks loudest gets the biggest check.

The way he demolished Siobhan Magnus over the past few weeks has been little short of disgraceful.

To those who say it is only Simon being Simon I say yes and what an awful soul it must be to inhabit.

Destroying young lives at their most vulnerable time is hardly a great way to make a living now Simon is it?

Siobhan was the one true bright spark this 'Idol' season. Now she is gone .

I'm sure Simon is very happy.

But he has't heard the last of Siobhan.

I predict she will be the biggest name from this 'Idol' crop in years to come.

Mark my words.

Siobhan Magnus is voted off ‘American Idol’

Siobhan Magnus will be leaving “American Idol” tonight having been voted off by the public.

What a shock! I certainly didn’t see that coming.

Our girl Siobhan didn’t make the cut after 33 million viewers phoned in to cast their vote.

As the results were read out Siobhan, Michael Lynche and Casey James were called to the stage as the final three.

Lynche said “Everybody did well last night. There’s no shame in being in the final three.”

Then it came out that it was Siobhan who would be heading home.

Siobhan dealt with the devastating news very well. She said he hoped that being on “American Idol” would have a big impact on her baby sisters and said “I did my best”.

Siobhan gave a brilliant performance of “Think”, by Aretha Franklin and then ran straight to her family. As she went in for a big group hug someone in the huddle said “you’re still our star”.

Even Simon Cowell will be sorry see Siobhan go and said he’d miss her. Randy Jackson said “Keep being yourself. I think you’ve an amazing career in front of you.”

Ellen DeGenres is certainly ready to help that career along. She said “I’ll see you tomorrow on my show.”

It must have been a real shock to Siobhan whose performance of Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine” seemed to blow the judges away last night while Crystal Bowersox song didn’t seem to particularly excite them.

At least on her final night Siobhan was looking pretty in pink. She was rocking a satin cowl neck top, shocking pink shirt with signature shaggy hair and flat boots. She looked relaxed and, as usual, unique.

Now the competition is down to the final five it will be interesting to see what happens next!

Siobhan’s “independent spirit and razor focus”, as Ryan Seacrest said, will be missed.

Lindsay Lohan turns down $1m to appear on 'Celeb Rehab'

Lindsay Lohan might be desperate (according to her father Michael) but she's not desperate enough to enter "Celebrity Rehab."

LiLo has turned down $1m to appear on the reality show "Celeb Rehab" (is anyone else sick to the back teeth of these air-brushed "reality shows").

Her explanation?

She doesn't think she's addicted enough.

We'll let that one slide right by us without comment.

It's also unlikely she'd want to share the same stage as Dr. Drew who has been quite vocal in his criticism of her.

She's not the only one to turn down the dreaded Dr. Drew.

Heather Locklear, Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller all rebuffed his, erm, advances.

Robert Pattinson and 'Twilight' crew to start shooting 'Breaking Dawn' in October

Whoops! Amy's glad she's not "Twilight" star Christian Serratos who plays Angela in the vampire drama.

Poor old Christian put her foot firmly in mouth when she revealed that the "Twilight" crew are going back in the studio in October to film the next instalment of the The Twilight Saga.

"Eclipse," is due for release in June, and the studio had  refused to reveal the start date of the third movie.

Stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner all denied knowing the start date but now Christian has let the cat out of the bag.

She was speaking at a  Twilight convention at Melbourne University in Australia when someone asked when they were due back in the studio.

Co-stars Gil Birmingham, Booboo Stewart and Daniel  Cudmore shook their heads and shrugged.

Booboo said "No word is out yet," but Christian interrupted saying,  "No, October."

You could have heard a pin drop as the other cast members inhaled.

Gil said they would now have  to kill Christian. "We could tell you, but we’d have to kill you - like we will  Christian," he laughed.

Mark Whalberg's priest told him no 'Brokeback Mountain'

Hey Marky Mark, that ringing sound in your ears is the Clue Phone calling you.

Irish American screen star Mark Wahlberg said he turned down a role in Brokeback Mountain on the advice of his parish priest.

'I met with Ang Lee on that movie, I read 15 pages of the script and got a little creeped out,' Wlahberg told the press. 'It was very graphic, descriptive - the spitting on the hand, getting ready to do the thing.'

'I told Ang Lee, 'I like you, you're a talented guy, if you want to talk about it more...' Thankfully, he didn't...I didn't rush to see Brokeback, it's just not my deal... Obviously, it was done in taste - look how it was received.'

It's called acting, Mark. It's make believe. No one was going to make you do the icky gay stuff that you're taking so much trouble to describe in graphic detail and then cringe about in print.

This week the National Enquirer reports that Wahlberg turned down the role on the advice of his priest:

"The 38-year-old reformed bad boy relies on his closest confidante and longtime religious mentor, the Rev. James Flavin, to help him pick and choose his parts. 'Mark is a practicing Catholic, and he never makes a final decision on a starring role until Father Flavin gives his OK,' an insider revealed to The Enquirer.

'Mark says he owes his career to Father Flavin. 'Father Flavin pushes Mark to honor his religious roots,' said the source. 'Even though Mark was offered one of the leads in Brokeback Mountain, he passed because of the gay subject matter, which clashes with Catholic doctrine.'

So now Catholic doctrine is saying its a sin to even pretend to be gay? Wow that's comprehensive. It's also really, really hypocritical.

Because, of course, playing a coke and meth-addicted hustler with a 10-inch you know what in Boogie Nights was just fine. Nothing objectionable about that. No doubt Father Flavin gave him the go-ahead. And let's not forget it was walking around in his underwear onstage at every opportunity that made him famous (as a gay pin-up, among other things).

Irony much?

Does Wahlberg have a pendant around his neck that reads: 'In case of accident, call for a priest?' It sure sounds like it.

Maybe try thinking for yourself, Mark. You used to back in the old days.

Online auditions for ‘America's Got Talent’ take place on YouTube

NBC’s “American’s Got Talent” have teamed up with YouTube to allow superstar wannabes to upload their auditions online.

Don’t worry, we’ll still get a chance to see all the budding performers online.

Once all the audition videos are uploaded the top 40 will be chosen by the producers for a special YouTube channel. Another 11 special acts will also be selected as a bonus.

“No other show would dare to take on this challenge” said Paul Telegy, NBC’s Executive Vice President for Alternative programming.

Not all the contenders will be chosen online. The show will still hold in-person try-outs staged across the U.S. in a half-dozen cities.

The new season premiers on June 1.

Brat Pitt to star beside Carey Mulligan?

Although it's not confirmed, there is a very strong possibility that Brad Pitt will star opposite British born- Irish actress, Carey Mulligan in the US remake of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

David Fincher, director of "Se7en" and this movie is a good friend of Pitt's and wants him on the project.

If Pitt refuses the part other actors mentioned include Johnny Depp and George Clooney.

Carey, an up and coming actress who recently featured in Brothers, is rumored to have already secured a three-film deal for the "Millennium Trilogy" based on the books by Stieg Larsson.

Personally i'd love to see Pitt get hot and steamy with Carey but if that doesn't work then Clooney would do the trick too.

Watch this space.

Piers Morgan claims he will replace Barbara Walters on NBC

“America’s Got Talent’s” ruthless judge, Pier Morgan, will launch a celeb chat show on NBC.

His new show will be modelled on his current British-based show “Life Stories”.

“Barbara has just semi-retired, and I think there is an opportunity there for me,” he said.

He may be finalising the deal but whether he can replace the U.S. talk show Queen, Barbara Walters, will remain to be seen.

“I do one-on-ones like Barbara Walters. I am not an entertainment talk show, late night kind of guy. It is more biographical interviews."

The cocky presenter who has a history as a harsh tabloid journalist said “My big scoop was I got Sandra Bullock to say she wakes up every morning thinking how lucky she is to have Jesse as a husband. Four days later... "

Well we all know how that ended!

Sandy is just lucky he didn’t make her cry. Just some of the celebs that he has made sob are the British Prime Minister,Katie Price aka Jordan and Dannii Minogue.

It seems that Morgan is just what NBC are looking for. He doesn't sugar-coat anything!

Conan O'Brien to give first official interview

It's the interview we've all been waiting for.

Well us fans of Conan that is.

This Sunday Coco will give an exclusive interview to 60 minutes about his life since NBC kicked him to the curb, the drama that ensued when walked Jay into his spot and his new tour. And who knows what else he will talk about.

I just can't wait.

This is the first time the comedian will speak publicly after he was dropped - ungraciously albeit with a fat pay check- from NBC and the "Tonight Show."

O'Brien has been very successful with his tour and hopefully will continue this line of work.

We'll be all glued to our television sets this Sunday.

Liam Neeson; 'I'll never play someone younger'

Irish actor Liam Neeson knows his boundaries.

He said he would never play a younger man in a movie because he knows his audience would not belive it.

Neeson, who recently played the part of a Greek god in "Clash of the Titans", is ready to play more fatherly parts.

“I guess age has something to do with it," he said.

"I'm not about to play the quarterback on the high school team. I'm not someone who feels the need to play younger than my years.

“I'm drawn to a part because I believe I can do something with it, and part of that is recognising your strengths and weaknesses as an actor, but it's also recognising what people see, and what they will believe.”

Although he won't take on a younger role in the future, he did say he felt like a "school child" while filming "Clash of the Titans" with co-stars Sam Worthington and Ralph Fiennes.

“I certainly tapped into that childhood sense of memory," he told Irish film website movies.ie.

"You know, playing soldiers, having adventures, shoot-outs, car chases, all that. I think that's a big part of acting really - just tapping into that childhood imagination, that ease children have in believing they're someone else.

“That this parked car they're sitting in is really a tank, or the garden shed is really a prison, or a bank, or whatever. So, on that level, yeah, I got excited. I think it'd be a shame if I ever walked on a set and wasn't excited."

Susan Boyle predicted to have Christmas number one

I know it's a little bit early but the music industry is already placing some heavy bets.

They are saying that SuBo's next album will reach the number one spot in the British charts this coming Christmas.

And this is why they think so!

Amazon has already received over two million advance requests for SuBo's second album.

Amazon set up an online page where fans could register their interest in SuBo's follow-up debut album from "I Dreamed A Dream."

Even though SuBo has yet to begin work on the second album, the music industry is speculating that when it's released it will shoot right to number one in the album charts just in time for Christmas.

The album is due to be released in December.

'We haven't seen this before. It's seven months ahead of the release and already people are putting in requests for pre-sales. It's an incredible achievement already,' The Mirror reports.

'I'm hoping to make it better and a bit extra special,' Boyle has said of her second album.

Megan Fox to film 'Transformers 3' in July in Chicago

It's been confirmed this week that the cast of "Transformers" will be hitting the windy city in July to film the third installment of the ever so successful "Transformers" movies.

Megan Fox, along with co-stars, Shia LeBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and Frances McDormand, will spend approximately six to seven weeks filming in Chicago.

Rich Moskal, Chicago Film Office Director called the upcoming big-budget shoot "a blockbuster in every sense of the word in terms of economic impact, stunts and special effects."

Fox and her colleagues are expected to begin shooting along Michigan Avenue and throughout the Loop on July 4th.

But a few weeks before "Transformers 3" will occupy space in the Chicago Film Studios where they can begin to construct sets, get wardrobe organized, and create office spaces for the big blockbuster shoot.

"T3" will shoot in six other world cities in the continuing saga of the admirable Autobots and dastardly Decepticons, who disguise themselves by transforming into everyday machinery," said Moskal.

"Transformers 3" is scheduled for a July 1, 2011 release.

Michael Lohan's Twitter account hacked!

Yesterday someone went on Michael Lohan's Twitter page and posted several controversial and completely untrue statements about his famous daughter which included, among other things, that Lindsay is HIV positive.

But then Michael Lohan told TMZ (who seem to be becoming his official press department) that he never posted those tweets.

Lindsay's estranged dad claims all of the hacked postings are blatant lies.

True to his word Lohan claims he's already contacted his lawyer in the hopes of tracking down the hacker and prosecuting him or her.

Is Robert Pattinson still embarrassed by 'Twilight' films?

Is Robert Pattinson still embarrassed by the 'Twilight' movies? The gorgeous actor has already made it clear he doesn't think he is attractive enough to star in them!

The role of handsome but gloomy vampire Edward Cullen made him feel like an 'arrogant p***k' when he was auditioning for the film because he is not, he says, flawless like '17 Again' hunk Zac Efron.

Pattinson said: 'The Edward in the book is like an enigma of everything that's perfect about a man. It's like, 'He walked into a room and it hurts to see how beautiful he is.' It's just kind of embarrassing. I just couldn't figure out a way to act perfect. I felt like an idiot going into the audition - even having the gall to go in means you're a bit of an arrogant p***k. Who could possibly play it apart from Zac Efron?'

Despite his current pin-up status, the actor says his casting in the role was initially rejected by fans if the book series. He explained to Look magazine: 'Twilight fans are very loyal to the book and to the author Stephanie Meyer. And I got a 100 per cent negative reception when I got cast. I kind of expected it, though.'

Lindsay Lohan and sister Ali having fun despite all the bad news

Don't for a second believe Lindsay Lohan is out for the count. Sure she's had a month from hell but if there's one thing we've learned about LiLo it's this: she always bounces back.

Yesterday she was back in force with her younger sister Ali creating a custom milkshake to auction off for charity at the Millions of Milkshakes event in Los Angeles yesterday.

They were clearly having fun despite all the bad news. Last week the star was fired from her latest movie because, according to TMZ, she is not 'bankable.' But Lindsay took it on the chin.

The troubled star got fired from the film 'The Other Side,' which tells the story of a grad student working on a desert island. TMZ reported that the writer and director of the movie said they decided to move on on from Lindsay and her replacement will be announced pretty soon. Some sources told the site that the people financing the film were very nervous about working with the actress.

But that's not all. Michael Lohan, Lindsay's father, wants to meet his older daughter’s lawyers to talk getting a conservatorship. He wants, he says, to take charge of her affairs and redirect her life.

The last thing Michael Lohan Tweeted was that Lindsay is HIV positive and had an affair with Tommy Mottola when she was 17. After these allegations, he told the press his Twitter account was hacked. Either way, his eldest daughter wants nothing to do with him. The 23 year-old recently told Gossip Cop he only wants money and is using her, her sister and her mom.

Sarah Jessica Parker says she wants more kids

Ignoring criticisms over her decision to use surrogate mother for her twins, 'Sex And The City 2' star Sarah Jessica Parker says she is exploring every options to have more children.

The fashion plate star would like to have an even bigger family with Matthew Broderick, with whom she often holidays in County Donegal each summer.

After giving birth to her first child, James Wilkie, 7, she decided to approach a surrogate mother after struggling to have another child. Last summer, the couple welcomed twin daughters Marion and Tabitha.

But the likable star felt she was judged unfairly for doing the non-traditional way of growing her family. Despite the criticisms, Parker says she won’t let the critics sway her decision.

'I don’t know if we’re finished having children,' she told the press. 'I know that we’re lucky that we could afford that particular option, but we encouraged each other to explore all options. I suppose the only courage it takes is to not listen to people who find it objectionable. And there are those,” Parker said.

Siobhan Magnus is back in the running to win 'American Idol'

Siobhan Magnus took on "Any Man of Mine" a song from country star Shania Twain on the Tuesday night "American Idol". The judges loved it.

Judge Kara DioGuardi said "Guess who is back- Siobhan."

Magnus, 19 from Cape Cod, was her quirky self as she blasted out crazy high notes in "Any Man of Mine."

Twain, mentor on the show this week, advised Magnus to "get into the song" and Magnus certainly listened.

Randy Jackson said, "I loved it. I loved the whole punk country look. I loved it, I loved it."

Ellen DeGeneres also loved Magnus' performance. "Way to pull the Shania Twain into the station."
"Great way to end the show, fantastic," said DeGeneres.

Normally not a Magnus fan, Simon Cowell's attitude changed this week- "I really really liked that song and I'm not normally a fan of country music."

He did however compare her signature scream at the end of the performance to "someone giving childbirth".

The judges liked most contestants except for show favorite Cyrstal Bowersocks.

Bowersocks, the only other female left in the competition aside from Magnus, was told by all four judges that it wasn't her best performance.

This is good news for Magnus.

The final five will be revealed live tomorrow night.

Samba stars Erin Andrews and Maks safe as DWTS heads in to week seven

Erin Andrews and Maks Chmerkovskiy have been voted safe by the public on "Dancing with the Stars" tonight.

Their sultry samba routine last night saw them climb to second spot with a score of 34 from the judges.

Being so close to top spot this week Andrews was seriously considering her options. It seems that now it’s week seven Andrews is ready to go for the win!

Behind the scenes she said “Maks has to stop taking his clothes off.” Maks defiantly said “Never”.

“Then it’s sevens from now on!” said Andrews. It seemed like a lover’s tiff might be brewing!

Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart need a combined name as in "Brangelina"

Will Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart adopt a bunch of babies from Africa and elsewhere now that they have been officially dubbed the new 'Brangelina?"

What to call them if they are indeed the new power couple in Hollywood?

How about Robstewart?

But that is too close to Rod Stewart the washed up singer so it would never do

Maybe Robkris, except it sounds kinda like someone just got robbed.

"Patstewart" sounds like some Irish guy you just met on a golf course while KristenRobert sounds like the daughter of the current Supreme Court Judge John Roberts.

Patkris isn't bad, while kristenson sounds like Kris Kristofferson's half brother.

Come to think of it Robkris sounds like the best name after all.

It includes both their abbreviated first names which means they are equally highlighted.

Then maybe Kristen would want krisrob and her name first.

Any ideas anyone?

Leonard Cohen announces second Irish concert as tickets sell out in minutes

The legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen will play a two shows in Ireland this summer.
This was announced as first dates tickets sold out in minutes.

Within six minutes the 10,000 tickets to the July 31 concert were sold out. According to the concert promoters tickets for the second concert on August 1 are selling out rapidly.

The ‘Everybody Knows’ singer has a personal attachment to Lissadell House in County Sligo where the concerts will take place. Having spent summer vacation at the house Cohen will now play an open-air concert to over 20,000 adoring fans.

Cohen, considered by many to be more of a poet than a songwriter, chose the location after a fan gave him a limited-edition book of WB Yeats poetry in Dublin last year. Lissadell house is the ancestral home of rebel Countess Markievicz and played home to WB Yeats from 1893 to 1894.

This will be the 75-year-old singer’s third trip to Ireland in three years having played two sellout shows in Dublin last year.

A Siobhan Magnus and Lee De Wyze romance on American Idol?

Romance alert for Siobhan Magnus!

Seems like the Cape Cod Irish songstress is cozying up to fellow idol Lee De Wyze.

They went for new tattoos together Friday night says a gossip source and then there is this description in the Los Angeles Times of the two together at rehearsals.

“Wearing the same sleeveless denim jacket she sported to the Top 12 party (with the rad Ramones patch on the bottom back), pink high-top sneakers and dark skinny jeans, Siobhan was the spitting image of adorableness, as usual, so you really can't blame Lee DeWyze for cozying up to her in row 3.

"In my gossip magazine days, one might have been tempted to read into the head-leaning and gentle back-scratching (not to mention the ink still drying from their Friday night tattoo run), but I'll leave that to you all.

Hmm certainly sounds like a lover’s convention!

Despite the name De Wyze is also Irish American, his uncle Tom Donahue has been interviewed on the show.

A tragic event in his life was the murder of his grandmother, After a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity another uncle was acquitted.

Lee has a younger brother, Mike, and two older sisters, Shannon & Sarah.

Michael Lohan seeks conservatorship over Lindsay

What kind of father is Michael Lohan?

More to the point, does he really believe publicizing his every move in regard to his troubled daughter will result in anything good?

How clueless - or calculating - can you be?

This week Lohan senior is putting it about that he can save daughter Lindsay with a conservatorship. Lohan says that because his 23-year-old daughter snubbed his ultimatum last week, he will ask the courts to grant him conservatorship.

Where did he announce this move first though? On TMZ! Yes, that sounds like a rational decision by a concerned parent.

In his statement to TMZ Lohan said that unless Lindsay sits down with him and talks to him about her addiction problem, he will take “any and all appropriate legal action to save and protect his daughter.”

Lindsay, of course, overlooked his request and instead went for lunch with her sister Ali. I think she's made it clear by now what she thinks of his brand of 'concern.'

Perhaps he'll figure out not talk to the tabloids every time he wants to win the respect and gratitude of his daughter. He might also learn not to belittle her by talking about her 'problems' to the press.

Sparkling Erin Andrews and Maks sizzle with sexy ‘DWTS’ samba

Erin Andrews was given a huge boost tonight on “Dancing with the Stars" as judges gave her, and her dancing partner Maks Chmerkovskiy, 25 out of a possible 30.

The love struck pair will have to wait until tomorrow to find out how the public voted on their steamy samba.

Their performance is sure to keep the rumor mills turning as they performed a sultry samba that blew away the judges as well as the studio crowd.

As always Len was hard to please and he launched in a rant at Maks saying he needed to give Erin something decent to dance with.

“I’m fed up with shirts coming off. She’s too good for that,” said Len as Maks (predictably!) threw his shirt on the ground.

Len’s opinion was backed up by Bruno who said “This is a girl that can do it."

Both Len and Bruno gave the pair a score of seven. While Carrie Ann, who gave them a score of 9, said “You nailed it!”

The two did not seem too put out by Len’s comments as they kissed presenter Tom Bergeron on either cheek. He sent them backstage calling them “lovebirds”.

Erin seemed a bit concerned that her nerves might be holding her performance back. She said they kill her before the show. "You saw how I was," she said. "My nerves are killing me."

If you like what you saw tonight (and we sure did!) call 1800 868 3403 to vote for Erin.

Erin go bragh!

Pierce Brosnan claims he never nailed James Bond role

Irish screen hunk Pierce Brosnan played the role of James Bond in four of the long running super spy series, but this week he has revealed that he struggled to promote his second 007 movie 'Tomorrow Never Dies' - because he actually didn’t like it.

The 56-year-old actor said that he loved shooting for 'Golden Eye' but the following sequels were really not as good, reports The Daily Express.

'I remember starting the first day on that film in an aircraft, flying a jet and it was 102 degrees, and I’m wearing a helmet and sweater, and then I’m being strangled over and over again, and I thought, 'Oh my God, this bloody character is going to kill me',' Brosnan told Venice Magazine.

'The press tour for that film was 22 countries. When I did it I knew the movie wasn’t up to speed; it wasn’t as good as Golden Eye and you have to bang the drum loudly to get the attention,' he added.

The last Bond movie Brosnan did was Die Another Day in 2002, with a title song performed by Madonna. 'I never felt that I really nailed it,' Brosnan said looking back to his Bond roles. We have to say we disagree.

Erin Andrews set for sizzling samba with Maksim on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Erin Andrews is all set to sizzle up "Dancing with the Stars" with a sexy samba tonight with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The competition is really heating up on the dance floor in more ways than one as we move into Week 6.

The sparks have been visibly flying between Erin and Max although both have repeatedly denied rumours of any relationship.

They're not the only couple choosing the samba; they'll be up against Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya, Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough and Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower.

Niecy Nash and Louie Vam Amstel, Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood and Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke all chose the Argentine Tango.

Amy's money is on Erin and Max being the biggest sizzler on the night!

Robert Pattinson vamps it up with whopping $20m in earnings

"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson has rocketed to the number 5 spot on the annual Under-30 Rich List in Britain, with some $20m in earnings.

The top spot (of course!) went to the magic "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe who has earned a spell-binding $64.5 million since taking the wizard role in 2001.

Keira Knightley was number 2 with $42 million, followed by Radcliffe's "Harry Potter" stars Emma Watson ($33.8 million) and Rupert Grint ($31 million.)

Number 5 was our good friend RPatz who is surely on his way to Radcliffe-size riches.

His biggest role is clearly vampire Edward Cullen in "Twilight" but Rob's also branching out into other movie roles such as "Remember Me" and "Bel Ami."

What kind of concerned parent is Lindsay Lohan's dad?

The car crash that is Lindsay Lohan's life just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

Is it me or is there something seriously off about a "concerned" father taking his story to the media first?

Dad Michael, says he was so concerned about Lindsay, 23, endangering his other daughter Ali, 16, that he entered Lindsay's home in Los Angeles, California, with a sheriff's deputy.

And then he did what any true concerned parent would do.

He drove straight to TMZ's Hollywood newsroom, to talk about it - live on a webcast.

Lohan told TMZ's Harvey Levin that he raced to Los Angeles after being told that Ali was partying with Lindsay. Another "concerned" friend told him the sisters had been spotted doing 115 mph on a freeway.

"That was the straw that broke the camel's back," Lohan said.

"I am concerned about my daughter, Ali," he said. "She's around my daughter Lindsay. They're going out at night..."

"The same thing happened with Lindsay when she was 16 years old," he said adding that Lindsay lived in Los Angeles as a teenager "with no real guardian," he said.

Well duh, Michael but shouldn't you have been more concerned then?

Lindsay must have been watching her father humiliate her because she fired of a series of tweets.

"I have no choice but to make this public, due to my sister's safety, as well as my own," she stormed.

"'My ex-dad' just WALKED INTO MY APT like the devil's advocate with officers."

"When will it ever end," she tweeted. "It's been going on my whole life with him -- hasn't he caused enough pain?"

"As for the ridiculous TMZ bs 'concerned' father interview, I must correct Michael Lohan when I say that Aliana IS watched ... by a guardian AT ALL TIMES," Lindsay said.

She said the guardian "is very close to my family and is a POSITIVE influence in my life."

Lindsay Lohan's new album inspired by Madonna

Lindsay Lohan used to be famous for her music as well as her acting roles (before she became famous for her nightclub antics and knock down Twitter fights with her Dad).

This week we're hearing there's some good news to brighten the troubled star's otherwise difficult path.

She may have been unceremoniously dropped from her latest movie role but Lohan's music output could quickly repair her bottom line.

Lohan recently wrote on Twitter that the music and career of Material girl Madonna is inspiring her new studio album.

Lindsay also confirms she will hook up with rapper Snoop Dogg in another song. 'Snoop Dogg is on it...' she Tweeted, in a match up that I have to be honest and say I wasn't exactly praying for.

Lohan is in the middle of finishing a third studio album which is yet to be titled. In 2008 she released a single called 'Bossy' which was co-written by Ne-Yo and Stargate and earlier this year she had another new track called 'Stuck' out for her legion of fans.

Let's hope the new album is hit filled and Madonna-like. After all she's been through in 2010 already, she deserves a break.

Grey's Anatomy's Kevin McKidd loves his job

Grey's Anatomy's surgeon, Owen Hunt, is a newcomer to the show but the ladies love him.

"Dr. Hunt is a great addition to the show and although Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy are also nice to look at a bit of fresh blood is always good," an avid Grey's fan told Irish Central.

Hunt - played by Irish American actor Kevin McKidd, said he is delighted with his role and feels to date the storylines he has spun have been very important to real life situations.

Said McKidd; "I think it's really important that the industry... it kind of honours those stories."

McKidd feels that his job - being an actor and a darn good one at that- creates scenarios that could very well happen in the real world.

"I think those stories are so potent, and so kind of important to tell. Stories of addiction and mental health issues."

"Sometimes they get brushed under the carpet and I think it's a really important thing to keep in the awareness of the public."
