Rosie O'Donnell has become a mother for the fifth time

The 50-year-old TV star - who has children Parker, 17, Chelsea, 15, Blake, 13, and 10-year-old Vivienne with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter - announced on Wednesday that she and wife Michelle Rounds have adopted a baby girl named Dakota.

Posting a picture of the baby on her Instagram page, she wrote:"We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter Dakota."

The little girl weighed in at 5lb 5oz and Rosie's representative said "moms and baby are healthy and happy".
Rosie - who married Michelle in a secret ceremony last June - revealed last year that her then-fiancée had sought help from fertility specialists in a bid to get pregnant.

She said last January: "She's trying to get pregnant."

Soon after the couple married, Michelle was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a rare cancer-like disease.
Two months later, Rosie suffered a heart attack.

The pair were planning a bigger wedding for later this year when they are both back to full health.

The talk show host blogged recently: "When we are both well enough, [we] will have the wedding of our dreams surrounded by those we cherish.

"[We are] thankful for the love and support so many have given us during these trying times."

The DJ recently revealed he will return to the TV talent show despite initial doubts and those close to Howard revealed he is lobbying for Rosie to get a role too.

A source told the Huffington Post: "Rosie and Howard have had a tough past but now they are great friends. He thinks she is a great talent and will bring a new energy to that show.

"NBC wants to keep Howard happy, and the chemistry between the judges is what makes the show a huge success. Just think what Rosie did when she joined 'The View' -- suddenly the show became must-see TV again. At the moment, a list of names exists, but if it were solely up to Howard, Rosie would get the job."

NBC recently praised Howard’s "towering presence and opinions" when announcing his return for the new series.

Paul Telegdy, president of NBC's alternative and late-night programming said: "Howard Stern's towering presence and opinions on last season's show as a new judge made a dramatic impact and added a sharper edge to the fascinating developments on stage.

Howard's fellow judge Howie Mandel is also set to return although Sharon Osbourne quit the panel earlier this year after claiming NBC fired her son Jack Osbourne via email from reality show 'Stars Earn Stripes' following his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS).

The TV talk show host suffered a heart attack in August and thinks her spouse Michelle Rounds' quick thinking in making her take an aspirin meant the ordeal didn't turn out as badly as it could have been.
She revealed: "She gave me an aspirin, thank God! The doctor [said it was] vital to me staying [alive] through the night, because I didn't go to the hospital right away and I should've.

"I'm thinking the kids, 'Where are the kids going to go? Let's just put some ice on me. I probably just pulled a muscle.' "

Despite Rosie, 50, believing her problems initially weren't serious, Michelle thought it best to check online whether it could be something else.

She said: "I thought, well, let me Google the symptoms and sure enough she had almost every one of them."
After finding out later that one of her arteries was 99 percent blocked, Rosie has learnt to put herself first and take better care of herself.

She added to 'Access Hollywood': "I think we have to learn to treat ourselves better and to put ourselves first and to save our lives in the end.

"It's been a rough year, I can tell you that. I feel a lot better. I think that I became educated after having a heart attack... I wasn't really prepared or ready and even while I was having a heart attack, I kept going, 'You think this could be a heart attack?' "

The 50-year-old TV presenter lost her own mother to breast cancer at the age of 39 and Rosie admitted she feared she too would leave her children without a mother when she suffered the health scare earlier this year.

She said: "I thought about what my mother must have felt because she knew she was dying and leaving five children under 12, My two youngest are nine and 12 and I was 10 when my mother died  and I hardly remember her. I remember thinking, 'This is too soon to be done.' "

However, Rosie admits the health scare was her own fault as she gorged on calorific foods and gained 20lbs when her wife Michelle Rounds was in hospital after being diagnosed with Desmoid tumours, rare growths which can damage tissues and organs.

She told People magazine: "I tossed out all my junk food, especially anything with sugar. For once it wasn't difficult to live without sweets. Those foods almost killed me. It took a heart attack for me to learn to take care of myself."

The talk show host revealed the surprising news on her blog Rosie.com today (27.08.12), explaining the couple brought their nuptials forward after Michelle was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a rare and often fatal disease, which only affects three in every one million people.

Rosie wrote: "my wife michelle was diagnosed with desmoid tumors in june a mysterious rare - too often fatal disease that affects 3 in a million people

"we were to wed 10 days ago but her illness forced us to postpone the wedding luckily - as i was in ICU that day...

"we married in private before her surgery just the 2 of us (sic)."

Although the ceremony in New York City wasn't attended by friends and family due to the circumstances, the happy couple are planning a huge celebration with their loved ones as soon as possible.

Rosie added: "when we r both well enough will have the wedding of r dreams surrounded by those we cherish thankful for the love and support so many have given us during these trying times, including all of u stranger-friends connected thru invisible strands of wi fi."

The talk show host and comedian experienced the health problem last week and is now recovering at home.

The 50-year-old star credited her survival to quick Internet research on her painful symptoms and a Bayer aspirin she had seen recommended in ads.

She wrote on Monday in her usual poetical verse form on her blog: "Thank god/saved by a tv commercial/literally."

Rosie said she had a stent inserted after doctors found that her coronary artery was 99 percent blocked. In a statement her representative Cindi Berger told website People.com: "She is now home and resting comfortably. She is very, very lucky."

Rosie added online: "They call this type of heart attack/the Widow Maker/i am lucky to be here."
Earlier this month she shared the news that her fiancée Michelle Rounds was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a very rare affliction.

She said her own health problems began this month after she helped "an enormous woman" struggling to get out of her car in a parking lot in Nyack, New York.

A few hours later, her chest ached, both arms felt sore as if they were bruised, she became nauseous, and had clammy skin.

She wrote: "maybe this is a heart attack. i googled womens heart attack symptoms/i had many of them/but really? - i thought - naaaa."

She said that hundreds of thousands of women die each year of heart attacks and that many never dial the emergency number.

Rosie continued: "By some miracle i was not one of them. Know the symptoms ladies/listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911/save urself."

The comedienne went public about her relationship with Michelle Rounds in September 2011, and announced they were engaged in December of that year.

The couple's wedding has been rescheduled for next summer, and Rosie has asked for donations to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation in lieu of gifts.

Rosie tweeted a link to a poem revealing that her partner has had surgery in connection with a desmoid tumour.
She accompanied it with the words: "b4 the tabloids run it."

The poem begins describing how the tumor took them by surprise.

She wrote: "Took mish 2 malibu / drove to napa / stopped in big sur / heaven on earth.

"It was a honeymoon / before the wedding / pure bliss / we laughed loved listened

"Then blink - it begins / on mothers day / morning pain / that won't let up."

The TV personality went on to describe the condition and explain that Michelle is recovering.

She wrote: "Only 900 cases a year in the US / an orphan disease - beyond rare / only 3 people per million get this / michelle is one of them.

"She is recovering from surgery in june / getting stronger every day / we have joined the fight against this disease / raising money and awareness."

Miaow. It's clash of the Irish Americans as Michael Lohan, father of the troubled starlet Lindsay, lashed out this week at Rosie O'Donnell.

Lohan was responding to O'Donnell's rejection of his daughter's fitness to play Elizabeth Taylor in a new biopic.

O'Donnell is in no position to bash Lindsay fumed Lohan senior, countering that Rosie's a washed-up failure at life and she only stayed famous because she adopted a bunch of kids.

Rosie tore up the 'Today' show on Tuesday morning, claiming Lindsay hasn't made a single good film since she was 16 and simply isn't capable of portraying Liz Taylor in her new movie.

On the very week that Oprah Winfrey dropped Rosie O’Donnell’s chat show from her network OWN there are reports that she may recruit the former First Lady of California and Kennedy woman, Maria Shriver.

According to RadarOnline.com Winfrey is hoping her good friend Shriver will come on board with OWN for autumn. Winfrey is also hoping that Shriver’s presence will boost the ratings on her failing network.

When “The Rosie Show” was conceived O’Donnell said it should be filmed in New York but Oprah insisted it stay in Chicago. As the ratings continued to be poor Winfrey decided to axe the show, as well as laying off 30 staffers.

The source said “Oprah knows she needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat, literally.

“She has been in discussions with Maria for a very long time about doing a news/special interest driven show for OWN. However, Oprah has ramped up the pressure in the past several weeks.”

However there are also reports that Shriver’s not entirely convinced yet. The insider said “Maria definitely wants to get back to work, but she has to make sure that it's the right project. With her son Patrick about to graduate from high school in the next few months, she will have only one other child, Christopher, living at home with her.

The source continued “Oprah called Maria recently, and said in her most serious voice, 'look Maria, I'm sinking, and I need you to do a reality show for OWN.'

“She carried on for 2-3 minutes about what the show would be called. Oprah is quite the actress, and Maria was just silent, and Oprah eventually burst out laughing, and said, 'ha, I had you, didn't I? I would never ask you to do a reality show, but if that shouldn't stop you from volunteering to do it.”

They added “Maria has been assured that any project she would do for OWN would be filmed in Los Angeles, or a location that was convenient to her. Oprah is cognizant of the fact that Maria needs to be close to Los Angeles for her son.”

The chat show hosts have apparently fallen out over Oprah's decision to drop Rosie's talk show from her OWN network because of poor ratings.

The problems are believed to have started when Oprah first called the comedienne to deliver the news.
A source said: "It was a very strained conversation, obviously. Oprah wanted to handle the announcement of the cancellation in a professional and dignified manner. Rosie thanked Oprah for the opportunity and ended the conversation very abruptly."

Rosie, 49 - who is engaged to headhunter Michelle Rounds - is said to have ignored her friend's subsequent pleas to call her so they could work on the press release together.

The insider told RadarOnline.com: "Rosie didn't like the initial language of the press release because she felt that it placed sole responsibility of the failure of the show on her. Oprah didn't need to get Rosie's input or approval for the press release, but she was trying to be gracious.

"[OWN] got a phone call from Rosie's camp, explaining what needed to be included into the press release. This is Oprah's network, and she has the final say. Oprah told her staff to have Rosie call her directly to address her concerns. Rosie never called Oprah. She was having her people do all the dirty work for her."

The 'Shake It Off' hitmaker – who welcomed the twins with husband Nick Cannon six months ago – has managed to lose significant weight, but admits she was worried she would never be the same again following the pregnancy.

Mariah – who embarked on the Jenny Craig diet plan to shed her excess pounds - said: "In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema, water and swelling. Most pregnant women have that just in their feet.

"One day I was doing my thank-yous and I noticed it started rising up the leg, so I had edema. I didn't think I would ever be the same person.

"The first week, I lost 40 lbs of just water. It was just water, initially. When I started with the programme, I lost at least 30 lbs of weight that needs to be lost."

The 42-year-old star struggled throughout her pregnancy and even had trouble when she was confined to her bed.

Speaking on 'The Rosie Show', she explained: "I had a really tough pregnancy. I was supposed to be on bed rest, but it was so bad then even bed hurt. I learned a lot being pregnant, watching my body change."

Mariah felt particularly "vulnerable" while carrying her children, and is delighted to have her old body back.

She added: "The whole point of this is not just like, 'Oh hey, look at me and my weight loss, I'm fantastic.' It’s really healthy. Like I said, I learned it when I became helpless and felt so vulnerable like never before in my life."

Rosie O’Donnell says her gaydar was “way off” when she first laid eyes on now girlfriend Michelle Rounds. The couple first met at a Starbucks this past summer.

Rosie opens up to People.com about her recent hormone therapy, which has made life much more “joyful” for her. She said how she’s menopausal and susceptible to hot flashes, but her therapist offered another explanation for the heat: "She said, ' [It's] because you're also in love.' "

Rosie’s new girlfriend Michelle Rounds is a corporate head hunter for an IT firm in New York City. The couple is described as “adorable and very, very happy” by a friend.

O’Donnell’s new show “The Rosie Show” is set to premiere October 10 on Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN. The show is described as a nightly talk show and O’Donnell helps to build off of Winfrey’s 25 year legacy.
