One Direction's movie to examine fans reactions to hearing their music

Poster for "This is Us"

Director Morgan Spurlock - who is helming the documentary 'This Is Us' about the British boy band - was keen to explore "why" certain people were so obsessed with the 'Little Things' hitmakers, and even interviewed medical experts for their opinions.

He told the New York Post newspaper: "We ask the question 'Why them?' We talked to this one doctor who tells us what happens inside a girl's body when she hears One Direction - like what happens in her brain and what goes on inside of her."

As well as exploring fans emotions, the 3D movie will also feature scenes of group hunk Harry Styles shirtless and Spurlock even filmed the five guys using the bathroom at the BRIT Awards earlier this year.

However, it is unlikely that Taylor Swift will appear in the film after Harry - who is joined in the band by Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - reportedly ordered all footage featuring his ex-girlfriend to be removed.

A source said recently: "During their relationship producers shot Taylor and Harry in Los Angeles and New York City but Harry has ordered that none of it makes the cut. He wants nothing more to do with Taylor, she was a fling and they're done."

One Direction set to buy a customized version of Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine

"Little Things" is one of One Direction's latest songs
"Little Things" is one of One Direction's latest songs

The 'Little Things' hitmakers - Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - are investing almost £70,000 on a vehicle styled like the van from the popular cartoon series and they hope to use it as a new tour bus.

An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The boys love cartoons and 'Scooby Doo' is a cult classic.
"They wanted to do something special ahead of their US tour and decided to get a bespoke tour bus created. The guys are desperate to have it shipped over to America so it can join them on tour.

"Scooby's obviously a US import and massive out there so they know the van will be a hit with both the fans - and their mums."

The van - which features a plasma screen TV behind the driver's head and entertainment consoles for each member - may be kept as a British exclusive if management don't feel transporting it to the US is viable.

The source added: "If management decides it's too expensive and impractical then they'll simply keep it as a fun vehicle for travelling from city to city over here [in the UK]."

As well as the band's 1D logo being added to the van, it will also featured entertainment consoles for each band member and a plasma screen on the wall behind the driver.

'Total Recall’ star Colin Farrell relaxes in Cancun

Colin Farrell in Cancun
Colin Farrell is looking HOT these days, as he showed during a weekend stroll in Cancun, Mexico with his ever-present sister Claudine, who also works as his personal assistant.

Total Recall, his hotly anticipated remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger film, opens nationwide on August 3, and he’ll be back home in Dublin on August 14 for the European premiere, along with co-stars Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale.  His Irish fans are surely going to like what they see.

“I actually like the gym,” Farrell, 36, told USA Today. “I find peace in it. Which is... weird. I never thought that would be me.”

The old Colin used to have no time for healthy pursuits, as evidenced by old interview.  'I see these quotes, ‘Working out for me is lifting a Carlsberg.’  It was true at the time. But now, things have changed.”

Making the film wasn’t at first appealing to Farrell, who had fond memories of the first Total Recall.

''I loved Arnie in the original Total Recall, which I was when I was 15 or 16. There were some funny one liners, there were some great action sequences and really fun performances from Arnie and Sharon Stone. So when I was approached about a new version I was dubious,” he said.

“I didn't feel the need to fill those size 16 shoes or 18 shoes or whatever size foot Arnie has. The film felt different enough that I could go and make it my own.”

Sinead O’Connor says petty crime could have been her career

Sinead O'Connor
Sinead O’Connor could have been wearing pinstripes if it wasn’t for her music career, she says.

In an interview broadcast last Sunday on the BBC, O’Connor said that she didn’t have talent to pursue any other vocation.  "There were a lot of good things about [early fame] – I was going to make a living being a singer, which was great, because I couldn't do anything else and I was headed down a sort of, pretty criminal path and if I hadn't got rescued by music, I probably could have ended up in trouble,” she said.

She’s certainly caused a lot of that during her career, now in its fourth decade – the biggest trouble coming after she shredded a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live in 1992.  She was asked what she remembered about that time, and all she could come up with was an incident that happened when she left the show’s studios when a “bunch of fellas” threw eggs at her and her childhood friend.

Sinead and the pal were star sprinters at school, she said, and they ran after the guys. “We made them apologize, then we got in a cab and went home,” she added.

She still has the white lace dress she wore onstage that night. In fact it used to belong to British
songstress Sade, and Sinead bought it at an auction.

“She may not know this, but when I came to England in 1985 I went to a rock 'n' roll auction and I bought a dress for £800 that used to belong to Sade. It was one of Sade's favorites, one of her famous white dresses and I was wearing it on Saturday Night Live and now my daughter wears it and she's going to wear it as her wedding dress,” Sinead said.

“So I've said to my daughter, 'This is a dress for women to cause trouble in.’ Of course, Sade is a lady and behaves herself at all times."

Demi Lovato admits she’s not ready to date One Direction’s Niall Horan

Niall Horan
One Direction just wrapped up a hugely successful first tour of the U.S., leaving tween girls panting and screaming from coast to coast. The band’s Irish cutie, Niall Horan, is heading home for some R and R, but he’ll be doing so without his dreamgirl, Demi Lovato, who says she’s single and not ready to mingle.

Lovato, the new host of the U.S. X Factor with Britney Spears, was rumored to be in a budding romance with Horan, 18, but she says no way.

“He's really sweet and he's one of my really good friends now. But no, I'm single at the moment and plan to be for quite a long time,” Lovato said.

“I need to focus on my career myself and my well being before I think about getting in a relationship with anyone.”

Those words are music to the ears of Horan’s gazillion fans, but he’s probably bummed out seeing that he seemed to have a crush on former Disney star Lovato, 19.

“I'd like to see her all right and she's a similar age. She seems to be a nice girl. It'd be good,” he said a while back.

Horan has been awestruck with the stunning success of One Direction here in the U.S.

“It’s been absolutely nuts,” he said. “It’s been crazy. We’re still trying to get our heads around it.”

Whereas the likes of Tom Jones used to have underwear tossed at him onstage by his female fans, One Direction followers are crazier. Much crazier.

“They’ve kind of toned it down a little bit. It was worse. Now it’s kind of iPhones and things, which are kind of dangerous,” Horan revealed.

“Total Recall” star Colin Farrell talks about his favorite things

Colin Farrell on the cover of this month's Maxim
The publicity machine is gearing up for next month’s remake of Total Recall starring Colin Farrell.

The new edition of Maxim magazine features Farrell on the cover with his two co-stars, Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale, and the threesome speak about such issues as world peace and curing cancer . . . not!

Maxim isn’t Time, so the questions tended toward the simple. What’s Farrell’s special skill that no one knows about? “If you spit chewing gum into the air I can catch it,” he says. Sweet.

His favorite curse word? Bollocks. And the body part he’s most proud of?

“The big toe on my left foot, because it survived an awful, traumatic event nine years ago.”

And what exactly happened?  “I can’t remember, because I was blacked out, but it ended up with a lot of blood,” he replied.

Well, let’s hope the movie is better than the interview! Total Recall opens on August 3.

Rory McIlory and Caroline Wozniacki’s careers hurting as their relationship goes from strength to strength

Caroline Wozniacki and Gerry McIlroy at Portrush (David Cannon/Getty Images)
Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki may be lucky in love – but their careers seem to be taking a poison hit from cupid’s arrow.

Wozniacki, the blond Danish pro tennis player who McIlroy fell hard for last year, used to be the top ranked pro in the world. Now she’s only won one low-level tournament in the year she’s been dating McIlroy and she’s had several early exits, including being ousted from Wimbledon in the first round last week.

Her departure from the English tourney allowed her to travel to Antrim to watch McIlroy compete in the Irish Open.  She was the dutiful galpal, walking the course in the rain and cheering on her man . . . but all he could muster was a tie for 10th place, seven shots behind the winner, Jamie Donaldson.

McIlroy won the U.S. Open title last year in thrilling fashion, but last month he couldn’t even make the cut when attempting to defend it in San Francisco.

Love hurts, it seems, but Wozniacki says her poor form has nothing to do with McIlroy.

“No,” was her curt response when asked that question point blank by a reporter delving for information after her Wimbledon ouster.

But a newspaper in Denmark, The Copenhagen Post, disagrees, saying that the Woz has turned into a dud.

“It’s the story all good tabloid sports journalists dream of – and it’s been sitting under their noses for the best part of four months. And now, game, set and match, it’s finally official -- Caroline Wozniacki’s relationship with Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy is seriously damaging the health of her tennis career,” opines the paper, offering one damning stat after another.

At least Woz has one ace in her corner.  The legendary Chris Evert, winner of multiple grand slams, says Rory can’t be faulted for his girl’s on court lack of form.

“When she racked up all those ranking points last year, Serena and Venus Williams were out of the game and Victoria Azarenka had not come on strong. There was an opening and Caroline was the most consistent player,” she said. “I don’t think Caroline’s tennis is slipping because she is in love.”

Evert has three busted marriages behind her, including a brief one to golf pro Greg Norman, so she knows of what she speaks. (Or maybe not . . .)

McIlroy, for his part, seemed to enjoy having his lady by his side last week.  He tweeted about seeing a movie with her in Belfast, and several photos showed him grinning from ear to ear while he walked the Royal Portrush course.
Rory McIlroy and Bill Murray
McIlroy also hung out with the one and only Bill Murray, a Saturday Night Live original and star of Groundhog Day among other films.  Murray was in Portrush to play in the pro-am tournament alongside Graeme McDowell.

Living like Pierce Brosnan - you can rent his Malibu home for $250,000

The Brosnan mansion in Malibu

Looking for a last minute summer vacation plan?  How about heading to the Malibu coast, where Pierce Brosnan will only be too happy to rent you his new beachfront property – for the eye-popping pricetag of $250,000.  Per month!

It’s a long way from Brosnan’s birthplace of Meath to the ‘Bu, and he’s certainly done well for himself. The eco-friendly manse boasts “13,000 square feet of newly built luxury on 120 feet of beachfront with sublime ocean and mountain views,” according to the real estate listing.

“This magical seaside estate designed by Ralph and Ross Anderson features contemporary Thai/Balinese architecture, soaring ceilings, walls of glass, lush tropical gardens, three master suites, a dozen bathrooms, well-appointed his and hers dressing rooms, and gourmet kitchen.”

Why isn’t Pierce availing of his gorgeous new compound? He’s busy making a film with Emma
Thompson in Paris called Love Punch. It’s about a couple who divorces but reunites to recover retirement money stolen from them.

Clearly, how to deal with retirement won’t ever be a problem for Pierce.

Louis Walsh filled in for Simon Cowell on “The X Factor”

Louis Walsh, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and LA Reid in Kansas City Last week (Brian Prahl / Splash News)
Louis Walsh, probably best described as the Irish Simon Cowell, is getting a taste of what it’s like to be Cowell these days as he filled in for the sick mogul on the U.S. X Factor, alongside other judges Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and LA Reid.

Cowell took sick with a bug and recruited his buddy Walsh, who’s a judge on the U.K. X Factor.  He dispatched his private jet to London and flew Walsh straight into Kansas City where auditions were taking place.

“(Simon) greased the wheels with the U.S. bosses, telling them that Louis was the man who knew more about The X Factor than any other judge,” a source said.

Mayoman Walsh seems to have gotten along great with Spears, Cowell’s Hail Mary hire in the hopes of shoring up the show’s second season ratings.

"I loved Britney. She is such a star. She's really bright, really brilliant, she has it totally sussed,” Walsh said.

Charlize Theron almost knocked Michael Fassbender out at MTV Music Awards

Charlize Theron pretends to kick Michael Fassbender at the MTV Movie Awards (AP)

Charlize Theron looks like she landed a knee on Michael Fassbender right where it hurts at the MTV Awards on Sunday night, where the two were on hand to promote their film Prometheus which opens this Friday.

Irish thespian Fassbender, famous for his full frontal in Shame, is still getting ribbed about it. MTV host Russell Brand let him have it good from the stage.

"I think Fassbender should be roundly condemned for profiting from sex addiction," he said.  “I deliberately removed all erotic content from this monologue 'cause he's only there in the second row and if I get him too aroused, I may lose an eye. Fassbender's pink pipe of acting wonder! That's a good skill for an X-Man."

Fassbender laughed, but really, Brand hasn’t been funny in a long, long time. For more with Fassbender, read our interview in this week’s Craic section.

Susan Boyle was left "terrified" after being chased up four flights of stairs by an over-zealous fan

The 51-year-old singer was on the way back to her fourth-floor suite after performing in her musical ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ in Liverpool, when she spotted a group of fans by the lift and decided to take the stairs to avoid them – only to then be chased by a crazed male fan.

A source said: “Some fans waited for her in the lift but Susan spotted them and took the stairs. Her room was on the fourth floor so it was a fair walk.

"This man realized she was taking the stairs so he followed her. He made a dash for her door, saying he wanted her autograph, but she managed to get into the room safe and sound.

“It was really scary for her. To follow someone up the stairs for four floors is a bit creepy. She was terrified and shaken.”

The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star was still reeling from an incident earlier in the month when her former gardener allegedly went to her home and demanded money, forcing her to call police.

Talking to the Daily Mirror, the insider continued: “The attention she was getting from fans was a bit much, especially given what happened at her home recently.

“The last thing she needed was someone trying to get into her room.

“She loves performing but sometimes the reaction of fans is really intense.

“Her nerves were already frayed and she shouldn’t have to worry about people hounding her at her hotel.

A spokesman declined to comment about the hotel scare.

Tristan MacManus has a new girlfriend, actress Tahyna Tozzi

Tristan and Tahyna (FOX News)
Tristan MacManus, Irish hottie and star on ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ is reportedly off the market despite his charmingly modest ways. MacManus is rumored to be dating actress Tahyna Tozzi for a few months now.

A source tells FOX411’s Pop Tarts that MacManus has been seeing Tozzi (24), a native of Australia, for a couple of months after meeting through a mutual friend.

“They’re both busy with their careers, but it just works," said the insider. "They couldn’t be happier.”

MacManus is, of course, busy with his demanding schedule for ABC’s hit show ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ In his second season on the show, MacManus is partnered with singer Gladys Knight. The two are safe for another week after tying for last place on Monday’s competition show.

Tozzi made an appearance in 2009’s ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine,’ and more recently, in the television series reboot of ‘Charlie’s Angels.’

One Direction's Irish member Niall Horan is terrified of pigeons

The 18-year-old singer - who is on a tour of North America with the boy band - admitted his fear, known as orthniphobia, stemmed from an incident when one of the feathered fiends flew through his bathroom window while he was using the toilet.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I get really nervous if pigeons are flying around before shows.

"I can't stand them after one once flew in through my bathroom window and went for me while I was having a wee. That was enough. I think pigeons target me."

Niall's bandmate, Harry Styles, explained the group - also featuring Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik - are rallying round in a bid to "protect" their pal.

He added: "Niall's really scared of pigeons. We have to protect him."

However, the group's flashing fans could help to take Niall's mind off the petrifying pigeons, as he recently admitted One Direction's America supporters are somewhat over-zealous.

He said: "We've had a few flashers - but we're not encouraging it, or deterring it!

"The craziest thing was supporting US boyband Big Time Rush - all the fans were wearing our T-shirts and holding One Direction banners, too."

Michael Fassbender was left "bemused" when a fan vomited on him

The 'Shame' actor reportedly "played it cool" when a star-struck woman got so excited at meeting him in a London bar, she threw up on his shoes.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Since Michael has been talking about how he lives in Hackney, east London, loads of girls have been hanging around the area in the hope of catching a glimpse of him.

"He was a bit bemused by his latest encounter and brushed off the vomit and played it cool.

"He used to be a barman so he's no stranger to mopping up some sick."

This is not Michael's only recent night out when an incident has occurred.

At the end of January, the 34-year-old actor was in high spirits as he celebrated at Mayfair restaurant 34 following the London premiere of his latest film 'A Dangerous Method'.

But he was asked to leave after staff grew tired of his antics, which included wildly dancing with his co-stars Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen around the room, taking over the venue's piano and lighting up a cigarette inside.

Speaking about Michael - who was carried out of the party on his friend's back - a source said: "Michael was politely asked to leave. He was in good spirits but it was becoming a bit of a handful for the other guests.

"He was grabbing his co-stars and waltzing around the room with them. He lit a cigarette indoors and that was the point it had gone too far.

"He's a great actor and women loved him in 'Shame'. It might have something to do with him having his wiener out for most of the movie."

Liam Neeson set to play President Lyndon Johnson in new movie .....Oprah, John Cusack also expected to star

Liam Neeson is expected to play President Lyndon Baines Johnson in a new movie based on the experience of a black butler in the White House.

Director Lee Daniels is casting his film 'The Butler,' the story of Eugene Allen, a servant who served through eight White House presidents including LBJ. according to FirstShowing.net.

Daniels, who is African American, directed Academy Awards winning movie 'Monsters Ball' and also last year's hit 'Precious.'

Allen survived to cast a vote for Barack Obama and saw him elected president.

Allen began working in the White House in 1952 under President Truman and remained there until Ronald Reagan.

In addition to Neeson as LBJ, John Cusack, Mila Kunis and Oprah Winfrey are also being pursued for major roles.

Winfrey will be sought for the role of Allen's wife.

Cusack is down to play Richard Nixon while David Oyelowo is seen as the most likely actor to play Allen.

The LBJ era is heavily featured as it was the time when the civil rights legislation came into law and its dramatic effect on blacks, including the working in the White House became clear.

Ironically, Neeson had been considered for the role of Abraham Lincoln in a new Steven Spielberg film but that role has since been taken by Daniel Day Lewis, a fellow Irish citizen.

Neeson had also wanted to work with Daniels on a previous film where he would have also played LBJ. He was wanted for the role in Daniels' now dead project 'Selma,' so this just makes sense. Hopefully we'll hear official word on casting for 'The Butler' sooner than later.

Colin Farrell and Henry rollin’ on an ice cream run

Colin and son Henry
Colin Farrell was pictured in LA last week with one of his leading males, son Henry, on an ice cream run in the Loz Feliz section of the city. Henry, 2, is the product of Colin’s relationship with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda Curus; he also has an 8-year-old, James, with former model Kim Bordenave.

It’ll be a busy year for Colin, career wise, with the August release of Total Recall, his remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic in which he co-stars with Kate Beckinsale.

The actress, who’s married to the film’s director Len Wiseman, said it was rather strange when it came to filming sex scenes with Farrell.

“I think it was worse for Colin. It’s awkward if you have to fondle the director’s wife. Especially with Len saying, 'All right, that’s it, you’re fired,’” she told the new issue of Women’s Health magazine.

Beckinsale says she and Farrell had no problems on set. “He’s lovely. He’s such a good actor, really professional and a brilliant dad. There’s nothing bad you can say about Colin – and he’s funny as well. I hate him!”

Pierce Brosnan spotted out and about in Malibu

Pierce Brosnan strolling through Malibu
It might be winter in most parts of the country, but not in sunny LA. Pierce Brosnan was out and about in his Malibu stomping grounds on Saturday taking advantage of the warm weather and strolling around a farmers market with his wife Keely.

His orange drink complements nicely with his bright orange man-bag, don’t you think!

The Brosnans, as we recently told you, recently sold their old Malibu pad and made a tidy profit to boot, but they’re still living in the swank area with their two sons.

U2's Bono was 'terrified' of Alicia Keys when he first met her

Bono and Alicia Keys
The U2 frontman admires the singer's "lioness energy" but was "shaking in his boots" when they first met when they recorded a charity cover of Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On' in 2001

He said: "I was terrified the moment I met her. I was shaking in my boots. I was very moved by her singing of course, but what was interesting was the hard questions afterwards, and I think it's those hard questions that she asks that lead her.

"She has a lioness energy."

The Irish rocker explained Alicia – who has a 13-month-old son Egypt with husband Swizz Beatz – has both the head and the heart to successfully front her Keep a Child Alive charity, which provides assistance to those affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India.
Speaking at the premiere of new documentary 'Keep a Child Alive with Alicia Keys', Bono added: "She won't let other mothers suffer.

"Everyone's got heart, but actually you have to have the head for this. You have to be tough and strategic, you have to be demanding, and the money has to be spent well. If the money isn't spent well, people get annoyed and so all these things take a certain intellectual rigor."

'Keep a Child Alive with Alicia Keys' documents a visit the singer made to South Africa during last year's soccer World Cup and airs on Showtime Thursday, which is World AIDS Day.
