Noel Gallagher thinks all musicians are "f***ing idiots"

The High Flying Birds frontman doesn't have many friends who are also rock stars, and he insists he finds most people in the music business annoying.

When asked by AVclub.com if he would join a super-group of other musicians, he said: "Oh f***k that. I don't f***ing mix with anybody, British or any other musicians. I tend not to hang out with musicians. You know why? Because they're f***ing idiots."

Noel was previously the guitarist in Oasis, but he quit the band after a huge pre-gig bust-up with his brother Liam Gallagher - who was the group's singer - in August 2009.

The pair have not spoken since, and are unlikely to reconcile anytime soon - even just as family members - because Noel finds it very hard to be a forgiving person.

The 'Everybody's On The Run' singer said: "I'm sure [our mother Peggy] would be thrilled if we did [make up]. But really, I've got one true failing as a human being and that is, I find it very difficult to forgive people. I accept that, but that is the one flaw in my character that keeps me from being pretty much the ultimate human being. It's just something I have to live with. I don't do forgiveness."

The feuding siblings have had little contact since the guitarist quit Oasis in August 2009 and the 'AKA...What A Life' hit maker insists there is no chance of repairing their relationship after the Beady Eye front man tried to sue him when he claimed they pulled out of a gig because Liam was hungover.

He said: "Once someone sends you a f***ing lawyer's letter accusing you of - what was it? It was so laughable, I didn't respond to it, until I had to, by law. He was accusing me of 'destroying' his brand. If such a thing exists, then f***ing hell, what's the world coming to?

"So now, I don't speak to him. The last time I saw him was at a party after the Olympics, and as usual he hurled some insult at me and off he went. I'm better off not speaking to him."

Noel was asked to be a part of the London 2012 opening ceremony, but decided not to be involved, though he insists he doesn't mind the fact Liam and Beady Eye stepped in to perform the segment he had initially been offered.

He said: "I'm afraid I didn't make Team GB in the end. The whole thing was choreographed and they asked me to do 'Wonderwall' acoustically. I mulled it over and then they said, 'You can't do it live?' Why not? 'Well, it's a big gig.'

"Finally, I said, 'You know what, I'd rather watch it on the telly.' But they'd got so far down the line with choreographing 'Wonderwall' in that, I was like, 'Fine, get someone else to do it, just not the f***ing Kaiser Chiefs...' So they went to Liam's lot and I was absolutely fine with it. Not arsed."

'The Death of You and Me' singer's 11-year-old daughter, Anais, with ex-wife Meg Matthews came to see him play in London recently, but he was left distraught when he spotted her sending text messages.

He said: "I looked up as I was singing – and if this isn't a sign of the times, I don't know what is – there she was, middle of a packed arena, texting. My own flesh and blood! Disgraceful."

Noel is also father to Donovan, four, and 15-month-old Sonny with current spouse Sara MacDonald, and says his eldest boy gave him a much more positive reception when he saw him play.

He added to NME magazine: "He came to the Manchester gig and he was extremely p****ed off afterwards. He goes, 'did you hear me shouting at you dad?' Apparently he just kept shouting, 'Dad! Dad! Dad!' all the way through.

"I asked him what he was shouting for, and he says, 'I just wanted to tell you, do the loud ones! They’re better than the quiet ones!'"

The Beady Eye rocker hasn't spoken to his sibling since the guitarist walked out of their former group Oasis in August 2009 but he has now grown to think they should make up.

He said: "You think about it don't you – you think life's too f***ing short. All this b*****s.

"I suppose I can see the end coming, yeah. Because I spoke to his kid the other day on the phone. I thought it was [his 11-year-old daughter] Anais, but it was the little one [four-year-old Donovan]. And it was like, 'Oh, alright Uncle Liam' and you think to yourself, it's all b*****s [family fights] isn't it?"

Despite his thawing attitude, Liam stands by his conduct in the aftermath of Oasis' split and can't see either himself or his brother changing.
He added: " I still stand by everything that went on. And I think I've changed a little bit... I'm still me so Noel's going to have to get over it. I'm not gonna f***ing change and I'm sure he's not gonna change. And there you go."

Earlier this year, Liam took legal action against Noel after he claimed their former group Oasis cancelled shows because the singer was hungover, and the 'Roller' hitmaker admits he "enjoyed" filing a lawsuit against his brother.

Liam – who has since dropped the action – told NME magazine: "It wasn't nasty. I don't think it was nasty. Quite enjoyed it, to be quite honest."

The 'Bring the Light' singer insists he had to take action in order to "put Noel in his place" and wouldn't hesitate to bring legal proceedings against his brother again.

He said: "He lied, he was making up f***ing lies at his press conference so he needed to be put in his place. And I think he's been put in his place. And if he f***ing carries on again, he'll get another one."

The former Oasis star used to be neighbors with the Scottish actor and he has revealed he celebrated getting the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the 'Star Wars' prequels by coming to his house and fighting with toys.

Noel explained: "Ewan McGregor came round my house the night he got the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I just happened to have two of those lightsaber toys, so I said, 'Come on - in the back garden.'

"And we had a lightsaber fight. His first Jedi training session was with yours truly in my back garden at eight in the morning!"

Noel admits he used to host many drink and drug-fueled parties at his London house – which was named 'Supernova Heights' - but he gave it all up in 1998 after a "moment of clarity".

He added: "Having all those actors and fashion people round my house, hoofing up mountains of gear (cocaine) - I never took it seriously. I just thought, 'This is a f***ing ball.'

"I thoroughly enjoyed those days, but then, one day in 1998, I said, 'Everybody out.' And that was it. It was a moment of clarity.

"You can’t keep having the same f***ing conversation in your kitchen about the Pyramids and David Icke."

The 44-year-old rocker insists he wouldn't be able to capture the sentiments of Oasis' debut album now he is older because he no longer relates to the subjects covered on the record.

He said: "I couldn't write a song, an album like 'Definitely Maybe' now because the songs are about being 24 and cigarettes and alcohol and all that, you know.

"And you just don't feel supersonic at 10 past 7 in the morning changing nappies. You know, you just don't, it's as simple as that."

The rocker admits it can be difficult maintaining an audience as success grows because fans can no longer identify with the experiences musicians write about.

He explained: "When you start off, I was 24, your audience is 24, you're all in the same circumstances, you've not yet become a rock star, so that's when the magic happens, when you're writing songs about their life and your life mirrors theirs and visa versa.

"Then, as you go on, you become richer and more famous and all that, and they kind of stay the same, and you kind of lose that magical connection that you had, so you have to write about different things.

"You know, eventually your time passes, and then youth culture changes and something else comes along, you know, that's just the way it works."

The 44-year-old rocker loves the hot beverage and was pleased when his favourite company sent him some specially-made boxes to take on tour with him.


Speaking on the Christian O'Connell Breakfast show on Absolute Radio – which he co-hosted - Noel said: “Oh, do you know what, the way to a man’s heart is a box of Yorkshire Tea. Do you know, for our tour they’ve made me my own boxes with ‘Noel’s tea’ written on them.

“ I’ve got my own Yorkshire Tea, it’s got ‘Noel’s tea’ written on the front, and my backing band, who I’ve kind of just recently met over the last kind of six months, walked in and they were like … I was going ‘Yeah, baby, yeah, this is how I roll.' "

As well as tea, former Oasis star Noel can't get enough of Cadbury's Star Bar chocolate snacks.

The 'If I Had A Gun' singer was thrilled when he got sent a box of the bars – which consists of caramel and peanuts covered in chocolate – and he stories them in the fridge so they are even crunchier when he eats them.

He explained: “I did mention a couple of times I like Star Bars and a box of them turned up at the office like with a hundred in.

“I like chocolate coming out of the fridge, it’s an amazing workout for your jaw, let me tell you. I like crunchy chocolate.”

The 'AKA… What A Life' singer thinks the 'Bad Romance' star is good at getting attention, but he doesn’t think her music will stand the test of time.

He said: "I don't give a f***ing monkey's about Lady Gaga. It's all about the meat suit and the controversy. Is it about music? Really? She's got the publicity side sorted, but where's the f***ing music.

"Her album gets played a lot around my house by my daughter and it's Madonna-lite. Madonna was hardcore. She took it to the edge musically as well as everything else.

"Twenty years from now, will we listen to Lady Gaga? No. She might think she is making a stand for the freaks and the weirdos. But they're not going to have any decent f***ing music to play are they?"

The former Oasis star – who has an 11-year-old daughter Anais with his ex-wife Meg Matthews and two sons, three-year-old Donovan and 10-month-old Sonny, with his current spouse Sara MacDonald - is disappointed that most current rock bands have nothing interesting to say and laments the lack of a "focal point" for rock 'n' roll.

He added in an interview with Q magazine: "Who will retell the rock 'n' roll story for a new generation? The problem with bands these days is half of them get the music right but you read an interview and think, 'I can't buy into them as people.'

"It's become this prevailing thing where, 'It's all about the music.' It's not. It's more than that. The way you look or what you say or what you stand for is crucial. People are so wary of being the spokesman for a generation. It's a bulls**t tag, but still … I wish someone would provide a focal point."

The 'AKA… What A Life!' singer isn't a fan of the micro-blogging site personally but he thought the concept was a good idea until he saw so many famous faces take to it and "bastardise" it for their own gain.

In a web interview with Yahoo!, he said: "I'm not a tweeter … Stuff like, 'Oh I'm going for a shower,' great. 'I slept in again, bugger.'

Life's too short for that kind of thing but I think those things like Facebook and twitter and stuff were started with the best of intentions to connect ordinary people around the world, like daughters travelling in Europe can tweet their mums. But as with everything celebrities get involved and bastardise it, trying to sell you their s**t. There's too much of that. Anything that's of any use famous people get hold of it and take it for themselves and it gets a bad rap. I'm like sitting here and thinking I hate twitter and I don't know why."

The former Oasis guitarist also believes the internet has destroyed the "magic and mystery" of musicians.

Noel – who admits he only got his first computer "at Christmas" – thinks it was better when fans knew less about their idols because it made their new albums more exciting.

The rock star – who is releasing his record 'Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' on October 17 - said: "I don't think people need to know what colour socks I'm wearing today, I don't think people need to know what shower gel I'm using. There's too much information in the world and there's no magic or mystery anymore.

That's why I didn't announce I was in the studio making this album until 18 months down the line. Because it would be like, 'Yeah man I'm in the studio and today I recorded a song in my socks! And it was great man and it might turn out to be a disco song.' What's the point?' I was obsessed with the Smiths and there was none of that going on. You just waited and wondered what they were up to and then the album would come out in four weeks and it was like, 'Wow!' "
