While the long-term friends have recently been romantically linked after growing close in the wake of the 'Twilight' actor's split from Kristen Stewart, Katy confessed this week she is still "madly in love" with her ex-lover John Mayer.

Her friends hope she chooses to make Rob - who recently spent a week at her house - her man because he would be a steadying influence on the pop superstar and is a great guy.
One pal told America's OK! magazine: "My vote is for Rob.

John is a bad boy and sadly Katy prefers that. She always falls for guys with an edge. With that edge comes drama and John is the king of drama."

However, Katy's inner circle believe she will give John another chance because she is so physically attracted to him.
The source added: "John is a physical guy and Katy says it has been the best sex of her life."

The 'Part of Me' singer - who was previously married to Russell Brand - revealed her romance with John, who has a reputation as a womanizer, is definitely over but admitted she still had deep feelings for him.

She revealed: "It's over ... I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds."

The 'Firework' singer and her boyfriend John Mayer were among a number of stars - including Kerry Washington, Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz, Eva Longoria and Ashley Judd - to welcome in the US leader's second term in office at the White House in Washington D.C. on Monday and she was hugely impressed with the lavish celebration.

She tweeted: "Just left the White House. All other parties from here on out will be judged unless they take place at the White House."

Kelly Clarkson - who had earlier performed at the event, singing My Country, 'Tis of Thee' - was impressed with the president's wife, Michelle's, party starting abilities.

She tweeted: "Just partied at the White House .... I kid you not, Michelle Obama stood up and got the party started .... seriously cool First Lady :) (sic)"

Producer-and-rapper will.i.am spoke of his pride at being invited to the ball, tweeting: "I took my mama to the white house & every step I took I wanted to cry ... I'm so proud of our past (sic)."

Party guests were entertained by DJ Cassidy, and Eric Benet and Janelle Monae, who both sang.

Before she performed, Jennifer Hudson tweeted: "Right now the President and First Lady will dance to Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together' to be performed by ... ME!!! Yes! Amazing night! (sic)"

The 'Beauty and a Beat' singer has amassed over four thousand more followers than the 'Edge of Glory' hit maker, bringing his total to 33,331,355 and counting compared to Gaga's 33,327,342 on the social networking site.

Gaga had held the title for almost three years since overtaking Britney Spears in 2010.

The 'Born This Way' star was also the first Twitter user to cross the 10 million followers threshold, and broke her own record by becoming the first user to cross 20 million followers and then 30 million.

Gaga previously tweeted about Justin's growing Twitter following, saying: "So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I'm only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!"

Both singers have prominent fan bases on the website, with Justin's fans nicknamed 'Beliebers', and Gaga's branded 'Little Monsters'.

Fellow pop stars Katy Perry and Rihanna, as well as American President Barack Obama, make up the top five most followed people on Twitter.

Actor Robert Pattinson and pop star Katy Perry were seen enjoying a meal together at the trendy Soho House in Los Angeles after news broke that the singer had split from John Mayer.

According to the Sun, the pair have been friends for a while.

The 26-year-old 'Twilight' actor has been a shoulder for Katy, 27, to cry on.

According to a source, "She’s really upset about it. She is making it seem like it wasn’t serious with John, but she is hurt.”

Meanwhile, Rob has been trying to move on from his betrayal and breakup with Kristen Stewart, 22, who cheated on him with her 'Snow White and the Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders.

Hot American pop babe Katy Perry fancies Irish heart-throb Niall Horan – and she’s not afraid to admit it.

The California Girls hit maker is single again after her marriage to British actor Russell Brand ended after just 14 months.

The 27-year-old American singer has told the Irish Sun newspaper that One Direction star Horan is a ‘complete sweetheart.'

In the interview, she also admitted that she has been mentoring the mega-selling boy band as they conquer the world.

She also confessed to a soft-spot, the 18-year-old from Mullingar who is said to be dating Disney girl Demi Lovato.

Katy revealed: “Niall is just such a sweetheart. I’m a big fan of One Direction.

“They’ve been so sweet to me every time I meet them, they’re like the biggest thing in the world right now.

“I’m thrilled for the success they’re enjoying and love hanging out with them — Niall is just lovely.”

Perry also spoke openly of her love for Ireland during the interview as she promotes her new concert movie.

She added: “I must have played Dublin five times by now and I get such a welcome there every time.

“I have always had the most amazing time in Ireland, I need to spend more time there, that’s my plan.”

British comic Russell Brand, also known as the ex-Mr. Katy Perry, got peeved at Irish comic Graham Norton last week for having the nerve to ask a question about his busted union with Perry.

Norton, born in Dublin and raised in Cork, hosts the top rated chat show The Graham Norton Show on the BBC, which also airs on BBC America here. Everyone who is anyone and happens to be in London stops by Norton’s studio to plug whatever it is they have going on, and Brand was on tap to chat about his new flick Rock of Ages.

When Norton, 49, spoke about Brand’s failed marriage to Perry, Brand exploded.

"My mum is here. She got upset when you dragged up my marriage.  I saw her cry. That's the reality because it's real people Graham, that's my real mum. I have come here to promote a film and you made my mum cry. I don't see you as that sort of person Graham,” Brand fumed.

Norton replied that Perry had been a guest on his show the week previous, and that it would have been “weird” if he hadn’t broached the subject.

Brand continued to disagree. "What I would have done, mate, in your position is come up to me before the show and gone, 'Eh listen, it's a bit odd that your ex-missus was on last week. I might mention it, is that okay?' "But in all of the chatting and the research backstage, no-one mentioned it."

Brand has never seemed the shy and reticent type, especially when he’s onstage, so his outburst seems strange. But he says he’s forgiven Norton.

"Someone was rude to me. I was angry. I can forgive the human being but not the action," he asked the Dalai Lama at an event in Manchester on Saturday.

The exchange between the two never made it to TV. "We just keep the best bits in the show and that wasn't one of the best bits," a Norton publicist said.

It sounds like it could have made for great TV. Then again, Norton doesn’t really need the extra publicity. His ratings are through the roof and he’s hosted every star imaginable.

Norton, who’s often spoken about how difficult it was to grow up gay and Protestant in Cork, had a show on Comedy Central in 2004 called The Graham Norton Effect which only aired for a few months.
