Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are selling their New York City townhouse for $25 million

The 'Sexy and the City' star and the 'Tower Heist' actor have never actually lived in their Manhattan property, which they bought for just under $19 million in March 2011, after deciding against moving in following their purchase due to a lack of privacy at the home.

Despite never moving into the Greenwich Village pad, which features six bedrooms, including a master suite that takes up the whole of the fourth floor, the couple stand to make a decent profit if their $25 million asking price is met, according to the New York Observer newspaper.

While Sarah and Matthew - who have son James Wilkie, nine, and three-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion - don't appreciate the property's supposed lack of privacy, the abode, which is just off Fifth Avenue, is said to have a top of the range security system.

What's more, the abode features a fifth-floor loft space with the potential to sleep the whole cast of 'Sex and the City', and cold winter months will be a thing of the past thanks to the home's seven fireplaces and hardwood floors.

Potential buyers who are fans of the outdoors will be pleased to hear the townhouse has a tiered garden off the first floor, and there is also a double parlour and 12-foot ceilings throughout the house.

Matthew Broderick's two-year-old twins are "learning to take care of themselves"

The 49-year-old actor – who has son James, nine, and twin girls Loretta and Tabitha with wife Sarah Jessica Parker – believes the couple's daughters are "more self-sufficient" because they cannot always both get attention at the same time, so they have learned to make do.

He said: “It’s kind of sad with twins; they learn to, like, lie on the pillow because you can’t always hold them both. They’re more self-sufficient. They learn to take care of themselves.

"They are really very attached to each other. They’re really cute."

Matthew – who has been married to the 'Sex in the City' star since 1997 – has found looking after twins to be a learning curve, which has seen him gain some "cool" new parenting techniques.

Speaking to People.com, he added: "I’m now used to being unable to give everything the attention it deserves all the time.

“You have to be cool like that sometimes - somebody will be screaming about something and you can’t immediately give it to them. But they get used to it, so it’s sort of nice in a way."

Matthew Broderick teases for a possible ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ sequel in 10 second clip - VIDEO

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
Matthew Broderick has sent ‘Ferris Bueller’ fans everywhere into a tizzy with a new 10 second teaser clip that has been circulating the Internet.

In it, Broderick puts a spin on a famous line from the 1986 John Hughes’ hit ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.’

“How can I handle work on a day like today?,” asks Broderick as he throws open curtains to what appears to be his bedroom in the clip that has garnered over a million YouTube hits. It also became a top trending topic on Twitter on Friday.

The line switches the word “work” for “school,” mimicking the Ferris’ question in the late 80s teen flick.
