Pete Doherty recently woke up with no memory of who he was

Pete Doherty
The troubled rocker - who is addicted to heroin - had such a "horrible" feeling when he had no grasp on his identity and fears bouts of amnesia are only going to get worse.

He said: "The other day I hadn't slept for a week and I was coming home [to Paris] on the Eurostar. I fell asleep for an hour, woke up and didn't know who I was.

"I was completely devastated and burst into tears ... I knew I shouldn't be crying. The train manager said, 'What's the matter?' I told him straight, 'Look, I don't know who I am, I don't know where I am.' He said, 'You're Peter.' And I was going, 'No, no I'm not.' Then bang, everything flooded back. I got my bag and ran off. It was a really horrible feeling and I can imagine it in a few years just lasting longer and longer."

Pete, 33, also admitted he gets a bigger "rush" from sleeping well than taking drugs and is often shocked when he realises how different he feels when he is refreshed from slumber and not high.

The Libertines musician - who was previously in a relationship with Kate Moss - realizes he needs to sleep more as it is better for his health and voice.

In an interview with The Guardian newspaper: "It's not actually that exciting to be f***ed up all the time. The rush you get from having a good night's sleep is so exotic, to feel powerful and clean, capable and potent, as opposed to washed up, impotent and mute.

"It's like if you sing and you've been up for four nights, your voice is puny and has no power. The difference when you've rested and had a banana in the morning, it's outrageous!

"You can scare yourself sometimes with what a bit of healthy living can do."

Libertines frontman Pete Doherty is being questioned over a missing train trolley

Pete Doherty

The Libertines frontman revealed he could not travel on France’s national railway SNCF, to see Noel Gallagher perform in Toulouse on Friday (12.10.12) as he is being investigated over the trolley which contains staff uniforms, cold meats and cutlery.

He wrote on his blog albionrooms.com: “people who have a car? they can lend me? I want to see Noel Gallaghers last european show with the high flying birds……..tonight in Toulouse…

“my mate is with me and is fully licensed-up etc….

“if you can lend me a car, I’m in Paris(nr Metro Villiers\Rome)

"the train is out of the question. I am currently in discussion with SNCF regarding my accountability for a missing trolley-load of staff uniforms (gaberdine wool mind you), cold meats, cutlery (sic)."

The 'Can't Stand Me Now' singer has a long-standing history of addiction and has been to rehab numerous times, checking into a clinic in Thailand in 2003, rehab in north London's Southgate area in 2006 and Clouds House rehab centre in Wiltshire in 2007.

In July Pete, checked himself into secluded jungle rehab The Cabin, in Chiang Mai in an attempt to finally kick his addictions to heroin and crack cocaine but the troubled rocker was thrown out for disrupting the other patients' treatment.

He has also been in jail numerous times and was most recently sentenced to six months in prison for possessing cocaine in May 2011.

Pete Doherty claims his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss still drunk dials him - five years after they spilt

Pete Doherty
The Libertines frontman says the "happily married" supermodel sometimes leaves him voicemail messages when she is intoxicated even though she supposedly "hates" his guts.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper at the Cannes Film Festival, Pete said: "She wants to get drunk and call me to talk s**t. That's fine but I wouldn't be able to do that to her. Anyway, she's married.

"I've listened to her [on voicemail]. A couple of times she's got drunk and called me and had been a bit silly. But she's a happily married woman, why does she want to speak to me?

"Maybe she's still in love with me ... No she's not. She hates my guts anyway."

Pete - who walked the red carpet in Cannes to promote his first film 'Confession of a Child of the Century' - shared a turbulent two-and-a-half year relationship with Kate after the pair met at her 31st birthday party.

The Babyshambles rocker is infamous for his drug taking and hellraising behaviour and was blamed for encouraging her wild partying which culminated in her being filmed allegedly taking cocaine in a recording studio with the musician.

Kate married The Kills' frontman Jamie Hince in Gloucester last July, and it seems heroin addict Pete regrets the end of their relationship and wishes they could have stayed together.

Sipping from a hipflash of whisky, he said: "She was just a girl that I met that I really, really liked. The reason that it didn't work was because of all the other things.

"It really annoyed me that people in my life couldn't accept it in their heads that I was with her. People in her life didn't want her to have anything to do with me.

"Every time we'd have an argument she'd say, 'All my friends are right about you.' I think, 'You know what, in a different world maybe we could...' It's sad."

Former Libertines' front man Pete Doherty has stopped injecting drugs

Pete Doherty
The former Libertines rocker - who has had a well documented battle with substance abuse - will not get high from needles any more out of respect for his mystery girlfriend as he doesn't want her to dabble with drugs.

He said of his addictions: "I've stopped injecting.

"The only way I see myself in a serious relationship is if I am toning it down a bit. When you're banging up all day you can't really have someone in your life, especially if she's an English rose. I wouldn't let her touch anything. I just wouldn't."

Pete - who famously dated supermodel Kate Moss from January 2005 and July 2007 - also says he's more calmer in his life since quitting London and moving to the French capital of Paris three years ago.

Speaking to The Independent newspaper, he said: "The media circus got a bit twisted when I was in London. It became a bit of a joke, really. In Paris, they're so serious I can take myself really seriously, too. I can get really morbid without people telling me to cheer up."

Pete Doherty believes he is being haunted by Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty
The 32-year-old singer was close pals with the 'Rehab' hit maker before her death from alcohol poisoning in July, and he has become so concerned her ghost is now floating around his London home he has gone to Paris to escape the specter.

A friend of the Babyshambles singer said: "He is utterly convinced that he has seen her ghost. A lot of people will think his visions are probably drug-induced by he claims he is clean."

However, Pete – who previously dated supermodel Kate Moss – is so worried about the alleged apparition he is refusing to come back from his French break.

During a recent London concert, Pete revealed he had written a song for Amy but he never got a chance to record it with her.

Introducing the song, the former Libertines front man said: "Amy Winehouse asked me a while ago if I had written any new songs. I played her something, and when I had finished, she looked at me and said, 'Is that it? Is that all you've got?' "

The song he played was a slow, acoustic led number, and although the lyrics were hard to make out they include the line "oh Amy, she won't be around tonight".
